Been in the upper 40s last 3 mornings...great weather.

Since I got all the mowing and most of the trimming done monday, took Della hiking in the mountains for the first time in a month...since she had spaying surgery. Hiked from the eastern boundary to the western boundary over the mountain and back...great waterfall and cascades. Got home and Della started acting extremely strange...trip to the emergency vet...there until 11pm. Back to pick her up at 8am, seems tired but okay now. Maybe ate something toxic?

Brand new emergency vet hospital...nicer than the urgent care I've gone to for humans. While I was waiting this morning, they took the stretcher out and brought in a dog that looks just like Kekoa...I also met a nice Golden and a French Bulldog. They have a Zen room and a "Comfort" room. We love our pets. Seeing that boxer about made me cry.

Ron, real nice man lift. Good safety practice.

Buppies, take care of yourself...Holly needs you healthy as you can be.

didn't get much done on deck2. waited for shade before drilling holes for anchor bolts. Hammer drill wouldn't hammer, just drill. so it took a good while to get the holes done. 1st bolt I messed up threads hammering it in, but got it fixed. 2nd one I must not have cleaned the hole good enough, and bolt was a little high, so recessed the middle of post bottom to accommodate. 3rd hole I started to manually hammer the drill up and slamming it down as it drilled, and the hammer function started working. amazing the difference, and how fast it just chews thru concrete when working right...
Watched a youtube video on fixing it, looks to be a greasy mess with lots of parts. probably an o ring dryed up.
got 2 more posts lined up and started to notch them, but I ran out of energy. notching 6x6 I cut both sides with circular saw, then have to cut about 2.5" in middle with sawzall and long blade, which isn't the sharpest.
Took lots of breaks

My brother was mowing at the farm again. On my camera I could see dad take a chair out in the back yard and watched him mow.

Good that Della is better this morning. Emergency vets late at night no fun.
Been meaning to put a whole house surge suppressor on, but never did.

Gotta morning meeting, then need to pick up a couple things at costco, so won't get much done on deck the rest of this week

just came in after 9 hours working in this heat.
face is red and puffy, a/c will help soon
but we got it done
one post still has to be set; bent the steel stakes trying to pound into a solid rock.
Will work on that tomorrow. Was overheated and had to come in.
Feels great getting it done, finally will sit in the shade

wow am I tired, thermostat says 95 in the sun

To clean a shovel caked in asphalt from shoveling it all day, we would soak in diesel and light it up. Cleans right up.
Us, too. Tiger torches work good for starting fires.

Buppies, I was almost always aware of who is watching the not so kosher things I do with either asphalt or chip seal.

Many years ago I had a spill of RC30 that stuck to the tanker. Hit it in the sun with TTT and then about 15 minutes later with Trim S. Another 15 minutes passed and hit it with water, you wouldn't know I'd had the spill. We were not supposed to mix the two together. I didn't 'mix' them, I put the one on and then the other. When I got back to Markham (head office) my boss didn't believe I had had a spill until I told him to call the terminal manager.

All the annual chores are done. Septic tank sucker came today. Told him the tank hadn't been pumped last year and he told me I could have waited another year with no problems. Next pumping with be in 2028. That job cost me $300.oo cash.

Tomorrow is dump and town run with a stop at the parts store for a case of grease.

   / Good morning!!!! #207,487
Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low was a chilly -2.1C and it's presently 10.5C, clear & calm.

A steady day, yesterday. The parcel at the PO was indeed the spare chimney flue 'cowls' (or caps)... a bit bulky packaging, but light in weight. Grocery shopping was straight forward, however I found that I missed something on my list when I got home.

Well, after lunch and seeing as I was 'dressed', I went back to town to attend to that grocery item. But first, I really needed to get a new battery for my blood-glucose monitor. I haven't been 'monitoring' for a few years now as I've felt fine and my 'Doctor' blood tests have been within 'range', although a wee bit "high".

Lately, though, a glass of my tank water, especially in the evening, has been tasting somewhat 'sweet'.

So, I decided that instead of getting a new battery I'd simply get a whole new monitor/system. Short story is that my morning 'fasting' test was 11.2.

It's a good thing that I have a Doctor's appointment this arvo @ 1515.

Prior to that, I'll probably get a run to the tip in.

That's about it, take care all.

Good Evening,
All the annual chores are done. Septic tank sucker came today.
The day kind of ended badly. Kathleen gave me a call while I was attending an evening class and told me we had a broken pipe in the basement. I raced home to find out that the septic tank had backed up 😳 So I called the septic guy and he will be here about 6 tomorrow morning. I had it pumped out less than 2 years ago but who knows what goes down that pipe ? 😉
Anyways I hope they can get it straightened out early tomorrow 🙏

Phil, beautiful work that you posted earlier , very nice ! 👍

77F and partly cloudy @ 21:30, heading down to around 67F for the overnight low.

High was 87F … and I spent the afternoon baking in it without a shirt.

Woman said my back is a little red … and it’s feeling a little warm right now. Should be good for my vitamin D levels.

Got all the Crimson Cushion tomatoes that were on the shelves out back planted, mulched, and caged.

The total was 13.

The ground was very moist and full of worms.

There are 6 Trip L Crop and 6 Sunny Boys still on the shelves. Plus whatever is still in the little greenhouse in the dining room.

Plus a bunch of summer squash and cucumbers. Might work on those tomorrow before the rain comes in.

Fired up the Weber and grilled some burgers for dinner.

Didn’t get to mowing the west side.

Hope everyone had a decent day.

46 heading to 76 and low humidity :) .

Kyle, glad things are looking better for your mom. Terrible about that Golden.

Phil, real nice gift for Buppies. When I was a teenager, always wanted a TR6. My big sister had a Spitfire for a while, before I had a license, but I got to drive it once.

Buppies, we have those flying elephants here, too. Glad Precious is about to come home to you and Holly.

Been down in eastern North Carolina last few days. My wife and her brother sold their family farm. Met the new owners...2 real nice related young couples, one with a 14 month girl and the other with her first baby due in August. They were having a blast riding the farm on their Can-am UTV. We spent all day Saturday cleaning out the stuff stored in the barn, and they helped. My oldest son helped, too. A real dirty job with decades of dust, etc. I could have filled up the Smithsonian with the snake skins.

Added in a nostalgia tour on the way down on back roads visiting small towns in Virginia and NC where our relatives once lived, and the 4 cemeteries where they are buried. Lots of memories for both of us.

Stayed in a nice 100+ year old house near the water in Washington...they have really restored that town since I last walked the riverfront a decade or more ago. A real gem now with a tourist vibe, restaurants, craft breweries, and lots of parks. Della and I walked several miles looking at the beautiful flower gardens in the historic district, and at the boats/yachts along the boardwalk. Della had her first encounter with cats, and even had a deer cross the road right in front of us shortly after sunrise yesterday. Bonus was buying gas at 2.55. Ate lots of seafood.

Came home to grass to mow 10 feet high. Maybe an exaggeration.
Sounds like a really nice trip. Hope the place wasn't too sentimental...did you find any cool old stuff to keep?

Good morning! 85˚ heading to the low 90s, no chance of rain.

A busy stressful morning at the tax office protesting my property tax valuation. They went up 17% from last year and I got it reduced 18%, so success!
2 maybe 3 questions. Didn't they give seniors some sort of extra discount? Aren't they only allowed to raise a max of 10% per annum (which is ridiculous too)? Glad you beat them down. Did you have to make any threats or offers?
I remember fighting town hall here in Lee County when I was (probably still am) a newby nobody. There were 2 old bittys on the peers team that were downright mean. They would just vote no to any discount, but not give any opinion as to why. Finally, the 2 guys were willing to "work" with me and gave me about half of the reduction that I was hoping for. Not that I would've ever done anything or the sort, but I was hoping it would rain roundup in the bittys yards. I remember seeing the newspaper some time later and a storm had knocked a big tree over and crushed one of their cars and hit their home. Glad I didn't wish for that on them. I would've felt guilty for a few minutes.

Now all the old ladies in this town just love me. :)

Coffee is cooling in cup. 48° with clear skies. this morning. Heading to 88° with a few afternoon clouds and winds. Got all my lawn chairs out and cleaned them all up with pressure washer. While cleaning chairs a Pallet Fork Safety Cage arrived. That was supposed to have arrived last Thursday. Assembled cage and checked it out on tractor. Had to do some moving around of equipment to make room for cage. That was enough for yesterday. Need to get some weed killer down today. May not get that done because of winds. Always things to get done if that does not work out.
Mrs Duck has found her mate. Looks like he had to work for his position.

Mr. Duck has been in the military and wearing his wrist band.

Well, I got my nuts tightened up
I don't want an answer and can only guess they were loose.

Had good long chat with NuBoo today than he took nap.
I had a tree guy go to my mom's house to look at her huge tree. Same as you, he says power company will first have to trim it to clear the lines, then he wants $2500 to knock it down to ground. Another $500 to stump grind. Ouch. It is 1 trunk about 3.5 ft in diameter, but about 4 ft off the ground, it splits into 2 huge branches about 20" in diameter each. I'm worried about the fact that it is a "V" tree, and it could split.

A buddy told me to call the power company and tell them we are worried the whole tree could fall into the lines, and give them permission to remove the whole tree. I might try and see what they say.

Don, when a group of my friends worked at the motorcycle/lawnmower/locksmith shop, we used to joke at the lowest guy on the totem pole and tell him to "Go out to the gravel parking lot and pick up all the surface rocks and sort them into 4 piles by size, then mix them all back together and respread them. :)

Contemplating re-learning Fusion 360 again. Want to draw some not so easy models up and just need to immerse myself in it again.

Thunder and lightning going on outside right now. Had 1 10 minute shower already. dog is hiding.

Son got a whole lot of the fields mowed. He's been on the smaller tractor for a couple/few days now. Maybe got 1/3 of the place done. Need the bigger tractor to do the 10 foot deep stuff, partially exaggerating. Mainly not to get stuck in the wet areas. Will wait some more days for it to dry out more.

Busy at work. Wifey made me a smoothie with strawberries and chia seeds.

Thomas, when you have a talk with that big guy, what do you tell him?

Prayers for all, Buppies and Holly, Ted and wife, our team, our Great Country, Ukraine and ******.

Seniors get an over 65 exemption. $10,000 off the valuation. Homestead exemption is $100,000.

Taxes can go up only 10% but property market valuation has no limit.

(Applying for a Homestead exemption caps the maximum increase on taxes a residential property owner can receive since the latest reappraisal to 10%. Some people believe this to mean that market values for a residential homestead in Texas cannot be increased more than 10% in any one year. This notion is false, as the capped value is based on the date from the latest reappraisal and applies to your assessed (or taxable value), not the market value. The market value can be whatever the market currently supports. )

No threats, they value the property as of Jan1 2025, my argument was I bought the house 7 months prior and the house values have gone down not up as I had two realtors reports. They also made copies of our house's closing documents.

62 going to 83. Already getting light outside.

Scotty, hope that plumbing issue is easy to fix. No fun.

Don, nice job on that streambed.

Kyle, there were a few things in the barn that my wife brought home, but most of the "good stuff" we had already been cleaned out, except my FIL's tools. I told my BIL that I believed a man's hand tools should go to his son, or his oldest grandson (my son)...so I let them go through those....some I would have liked to have.

I don't think Della slept any at the emergency vet because she slept most all day yesterday. I decided that I better stay close in the recliner to "watch" her.
