if you have the room, model trains are very neat.
growing up, further South on River Road, below where Ken lives,
there was a guy with a miniature railroad that ran along the far side of the road, next to the canal.
My memory was it was about three feet tall, not sure about riding on it. But far larger than what you buy in the store.
there is a xmas tree farm near there now.
would love to know history of that little train.

and then it was no more.
hope no one stole it like they stole my NC turtles...
people will steal anything not bolted down
an itchy pox and genital herpes on all porch pirates

The owners of Menards are model train fans. During Christmas time they a couple rows of shelves with plenty of train stuff on the shelves.

eight years ago today just before lunch
Bob the bear at my friend's NY cabin out looking for a snack
looks well fed
Bob is no more.
like Thomas knows, sometimes they move on.
or sometimes they have a very bad day in front of a semi
I hit one with my pickup in NC, thankfully a little smaller than this

years earlier I saw a smaller Bob run across the cabin path/road. I waited awhile and then passed.
critter has much bigger teeth than I do.

Happy Memorial Day, am indeed thankful for those that gave all to bring us freedom.
60°
Sassy looks great.
Rode in the back of a deuce in a half, while doing a job in TX back in late 80s.

Good worship yesterday, and last night was our first monthly hot dog roast after evening service, out under the tent we set up behind our building.

Will update later as I figure out what to work on today.

Florida governor Desantis just signed a new law requiring probable cause before state or local enforcement boats can
stop your boat for a routine safety check. Apparently, no more safety checks.
Part of this is due to the reality of South Florida where in many places you have three or four cooperating/competing/overlapping
marine police force boats out there in the same waters. It seems every Sheriff in Florida is allotted his own patrol boat...
And then the county marine police, and for sure the State Police. Apparently a few folks have been stopped three times
in one day and called the Governor.

all good until you keep in mind, to the best of my understanding, that US Coast Guard can stop for any reason.
if you go offshore, I can appreciate the need for that.

I've boated for over twenty years and have never been stopped. Definitely got eyeballed up close taking boat up the Potomac.
Lot of black suburbans up on the shore with folks and spotting telescopes.
My boat was kind of old fashioned and I had a very large US flag hanging out the back.

not sure if this will become monkey see monkey do in other boating states.

Morning all, 64 going to 73 and sunny.
Got the pool opened, dread the heavy cover each year.
Had a few leaks, may need some new caps, but cleaning under way.
Today need to get the cover the rest of the way folded and into it's bag and into the garage. Always fun.

Went into town, really crowded last night. Interesting as a huge motorcycle parade happened earlier, so lots of bikes and some interesting cars and trucks.

Our dog still likes to use the crate sometimes, we leave it in the corner with a dog bed. It's also her safe base when chasing her around for play.

Hope the truck serves you well PJ

Memorial day, remembering my coworkers in the AF that didn't make it, and those that did I hope are doing well.

Be well,

Not something you see every day.

That cover is over 100 pounds and with water, who knows how much, so I let it dry before the final stow.

that little fire truck is what RNG needs for his driveway!

threw a bunch of things into the crock pot, mostly veggies and a little chicken, will let that cook all day.
now headed back out on a pretty day
all the flower beds are now edged and mulched
all dressed up and nowhere to go...

picked about ten yellow longer stem roses and made a nice vase arrangement with them.

almost noon
time for memorial bells
would be cool if all churches would ring their bells at same time, regardless of faith.

When I was building my house, a church up the road a mile always “played” a song of ringing bells at 6 pm. They used PA speakers up in their “bell” tower. Always enjoyed that, don’t know when they stopped.

Had a good lunch, did plenty for another meal. Baked beans, burger, brauts, roasted veggies 🥕 potatoes peppers 🫑
The new trex is hot for sock feet, had to put on shoes. Now relax.
Did tear off most of the old “bridge” of the old deck.

The grass is cut and mower refueled. North field wasn't long enough to cut, so it goes begging until the next time.
Lots of toads and many of them babies.

Ordered some spider spray for Dock Spiders which I know I have. That was a dock spider I plucked out of the kitchen sink the other morning. It was a small one. They can get to be about 2" long.

Got another 5 tomato seedlings repotted first thing.

Ran down to the corner and picked up gas for the Cub and got it refueled when I got back.

A little too breezy for any spraying so I hooked up the core aerator and cored almost all of the front except for the very bottom where’s there is stills standing water.

After that I rolled the last two round posts so The Woman could work on another section of those.

Set up the new saw horses and I started coating the 4 x 4’s. One side done on 5 so far.

Woman out picking up some grocery items needed for dinner (pork chops and scalloped potatoes - one of my favorites)

Pleasant sitting here in the sun.

Good (Tuesday) arvo. Overnight Low of 7.7C and it's presently 11.6C, overcast & calm with off/on showers. There was 4.4mm in the gauge @ 0900.

This morning has been a wee bit busy as I needed to be at the Church Hall by 1100 for an electrical inspection (State) on the security light that was installed in April. After that I made a quick stop at the chemist for some adhesive bandages, then over to the PO for a Nespresso coffee delivery.

Obviously I'm home now. Just need to bring in some wood for the heater.

That's about it, take care all.
