Good morning!!!!

65° and light rain here this morning, and that was the high for the day. Weather app said it was just supposed to rain a bit this morning, but it ended up sticking around all day. Shot my chance at getting any mowing done today.

Bought a new "truck." Been looking for a long while at all the small and mid-size trucks, but none of them really tickled my fancy. One eventually started to grow on me, the Hyundai Santa Cruz. The dealer in Shiloh IL had a bunch of '24s that they had been using as service loaner vehicles, and once they reached 3000 miles would sell them at a substantial discount. Went yesterday to take a test drive, and ended up driving one home. Now, I have a car payment again.

Need to get some mowing done Monday, more rain forecast most of the coming week.

Hope everyone is well.

Good evening, gents.

good morning all
up early on a cool morning, only 46 out now, but going to be a nice Monday/holiday with temps in 70's

Paul, congrats on new truck. It gets good reviews, hope it works well. Now to figure out what all the new buttons do...

no plans for today other than possibly continuing to wax the car. Need to do that in the morning so sun isn't shining on car

lawn guys may show up this morning to put down some mulch for me. Which means I might head downtown this morning to pick up another
four bags, that should do it.

roses did not enjoy that big downpour for two days we had. Finally perking back up, time to start deadheading.
should be able to make a nice cut arrangement. I'd like to take that to aging MIL in nursing home.

Coffee has been poured. 40° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 72° with a few clouds. Garden looks very good after cleanup. Got Deuce & Half ready for today's parade. Cannot ask for better weather for parade. Sassy enjoys watching all the people waving as we drive by. Will finish day off with a BBQ at neighbors.

Gratitude to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and their families. Thank you for our freedom.

56 and a sprinkle going to 70.

PJ, congrats on the new truck. Looks sporty.

Nice Sassy pic.

Took Della for a hike and swim...first time in the water since surgery 2 weeks ago. Lots of dogs to meet along the way. Since this is a tractor forum and not a hiking forum, decided I better change the oil in my tractor. So much easier than my truck. With sunset so much later, we stayed outside too late and had dinner at 9pm.

wonderful pic Ron.
the deuce and a half you are referring to I bet weighs a little more than an Electra 225, deuce and a quarter...

perfect timing this morning and proved out a little negative reinforcement.
I looked out kitchen window/firing port... to see the first squirrel rounding the garden shed and headed for the feeders.
He looked up, saw the kitchen window opening, turned right around and so far has not come back.

funny how rest of the birds scatter when squirrel shows up.
they know the proverbial lead is going to fly... :giggle:
I am very careful to make sure nothing else is in the way.
As soon as squirrels run away, whole flock of birds return.
I think they know I'm not going to hurt them but smart to get out of the action

cold out, just hustled out to put some fresh nut mixture down on ground, cardinals adore that, blue jays, brings
all the big birds in
and an all black bird with pretty thin orange stripes on shoulders

Good morning TBN!!!
62 this morning and may add another 5 or so for the day. Rain expected on and off for the next couple of days.

Took the day off yesterday. Nothing but a little walking with the dog.
Much needed as the last week or so caught up to me. Couple of friends coming out this morning to give me some advice. Needed or not LOL. Will look at what is done and the next best steps to take.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!!

Thank you veterans and families for what you have done and continue to do to protect this great nation!!!

Was a chilly 41F @ 05:45, generally clear but with some haze. Calling for a high temp of 69F which is still about 4 degrees below normal. But welcome.

Coffee tasting very good.

And a toasty little puddy tat warming my legs and wanting petted.

Filled up feeders first thing yesterday: hopper, both tube and both suet feeders. Also scattered some seeds for the ground feeders. Need to get the feeder for the hummers put up.

Apparently startled groundhog while I was doing that and it let out a loud, piercing shriek. Got my attention.

Worked on completing coating first two round poles with tar and got that done.

Then went over to the barn with the Kubota and got the other two round poles and brought them over to the house.

Got those about half done, and The Woman helped. She was feeling a bit under the weather Friday/Saturday, thinks it might be allergies.

Decided I like thinning the roof coating down a little with some mineral spirits. It flows and fills the cracks better, brushing out a lot easier. Also dries a lot faster.

Worked some on mowing the front yard. Got it maybe 65% done. Big spot at the bottom still has standing water. That might go away by sometime tomorrow … just before the next round of rain is due in.

Remembered to check the seeds I planted in pots out back, looks like maybe 50% have sprouted and have come up.

Final item for the day was getting the last 10 cauliflower plants in the ground and covered with insect netting.

By the time I finished up it was feeling pretty chilly out there with the breeze.

Still have the 3 kohlrabi left to do but no holes left under the insect netting.

On agenda for today:

Repot a couple more tomato seedlings.

Since no rain in the immediate forecast and winds should be light, probably do some more Glyphosate spraying.

Set up new saw horses and get some of the 4 x 4 x 12’s laid out and start getting those coated. Hopefully Woman can assist with that.

Hook up core aerator to the Cub and punch some more holes in the front lawn.

Cub is just under 2 hours from needing the oil changed and the air filter cleaned so may do that as well … along with cleaning the underside of the deck. 748 and change on the hour meter.

Blades still cutting fine but need to think about getting the second set sharpened in the coming days.

Kubota just rolled 2600 hours and the van finally hit 460,000 miles.

Hope everyone has a decent Memorial Day …

Good morning! Thankful to all who served.. Presentation and 700 chairs are set up in the memorial plaza in the neighborhood, hope there will be a band and a fly over. 35% chance of rain this morning but it looks like it is staYing North of us.

79˚F cloudy skies upper 80s today.

Yesterday was a day in the neighborhood taking advantage of the amenities here. Started off with a trail hike, then the model rail roads, then water volleyball, then ping pong, then billiards and a back yard swim.

Good Morning,
Ct, 48 to start going to 68. Bright blue skies for a change and hopefully we are out of the rain shower pattern.

Hope to get the pump and filter running today, got the cover off yesterday.

Ron nice shot of Sassy, must be a fan favorite in the parade 😉

Paul, beautiful rainbow shot 🙏

Nice see if he wants to come to idaho! I use my drone to put wire antennas up. I have a 380ft Delta Loop for Transmit and a 780ft Beverage antenna for Receive.
Steve, that Dodge sucks fuel like no tomorrow 😉 That would be quite the bill there 😄 Enjoyed a few minutes of listening to cw transmissions yesterday but too much work to spend any real time with it. Today will be about the same🥲

Gratitude to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and their families. Thank you for our freedom.
Billy, so very true 🙏

Hope all have a blessed and safe day 🙏

Good morning, the low is 52 and going up to 72°F. Wind NNE 7 mph. Sunny!

I'll go out about noon and cut all the grass. I want to wait until the guy across the road is 'up' (he works nights) before I cut the sides of the driveway.

Drew, your "all black bird with pretty thin orange stripes on shoulders" sounds like a Red Winged Black Bird. They are REALLY territorial. They don't have any problem dive bombing people if you get too close to their nest.

Happy Memorial Day all. It is sad that so many had to give their lives so that we can live free.

Have a safe day all
