good morning all
up too early but coffee will get me going
should be a quiet morning until friend arrives to give me a ride to the rv, where I will check out of winter storage
and bring it home. So I expect to be busy this afternoon unloading the rv for sale.
naturally dealer told me wasn't sure he could get my price for rv, motorhomes are down, blah blah.

35 going up to 50 today, mostly sunny, should be a nice day

never made it to Costco, worked outside instead.
Mostly, when I was doing power plant instrumentation, one of the hot tickets was vibration monitoring for turbines.
everything was done to prevent unplanned outages by using predictive (early AI?) analysis.
Kia says they are putting in new engines, not fixing them. (?)
worrisome so many new engines are bad these days. And for dumb stuff like leaving production debris inside engine.
in Kia's case they got bad rings from a supplier. If they went for lowest cost, shame on them. It will sure cost them more now.

not to mention almost all new truck gas engines in last few years have been plagued with valve gear issues, all the variable timing
gear not working so well. Hemi ticks, ecoboost cam phasers, GM's bad lifters, Toyota and Lexus replacing more than 100k top of the line
V6 engine (that replaced their very reliable V8)
simple reality is between emissions and infotainment, our cars are incredibly complicated now.

A mix of clouds and sun early followed by cloudy skies this afternoon. High near 40F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.

Tonight 02/28
Cloudy with snow showers developing after midnight. Low near 30F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40%.

The only accomplishment yesterday was cleaning the couple inches of slush off of and around the vehicles and then back to conserving energy.

No real plans for today just spend some more time puttering around.

Stopped a Lowes and got 4 keys made for garage and barn. Key for barn work. Key for garage will not work. Back to Lowes to get that fixed today. Got camera bird feeder problems solve with a short phone call. May work on getting it put up today.
Sandhill Cranes are back. I think this one has it's legs crossed hoping for snow to melt away.

Last evening clear walks steps etc. than remove 3"+ of sloppy snow,ground was little soft couple places some extra raking come April needed.

Plans for today...4 hours at part store,afternoon get ready also do walking around checking Kubota storm coming later to night 2-4 inches.

Good morning TBN!!
36 this morning w/high of 65 today.
Not much energy expended yesterday. Fixed both pair of cutting goggles up and they are clean and ready to go. Started the generator and let it run with a load on it for a while. Shuffled some stuff around and now I have a full bay to work in.
And of course walked Takoda.
Not sure about today. Might make a second attempt to get glasses. Tired of not seeing well enough.
Probably just putter after we get back.

Time for a second cup.

Came out of the bathroom and we went from sunny to quite a snow squall !

Glad the week is over. Pretty tough on the real jobs. Looks like next week will be continuing the work loads. Schedule booked out already. More city time.

Got my errands done. Took the better part of the afternoon. Scored on beer and lamb chops. Yum.

May get to more trees today. Why not. Weather may take another cold snap movement in a few days. Getting the trees out of the woods without greenery is a lot easier on everything, so might as well do it.

only had that happen once to me. Right at beginning of covid, rvs were sold out and dealer came back
to me and upped his offer on my MB based rv by four thousand. Almost put me back to original discounted cost new.
So I was happy to sell.
I have a very common motorhome, lots of them out there
I would like to get some equity out of it versus just padding the dealer's pockets.

38° with a clear sky and forecast high of 50.

Last two days were spent on the lathe project. I should have known that I was optimistic when I wondered if it would take a whole day……
Just getting cleaned up and moving it was a project in its self.
I ended up using the crown lift and some blocking.

Once it was pulled out of the wall and the splash shield removed, I set up a table behind it to work from.

Using a dial indicator on the carriage, I was able to get the scale to within .001” in all axis. That was tighter tolerance than required, but I had a hard time getting the reader to work properly, until I realized that I misunderstood the directions and had it upside down. Im sure that I could have gotten away with much looser tolerances if I had done it right in the first place.

At the end of the day, it was back in place, and everything works as it should.

Another example of how easy it is to make things hard. But it’s done, and I’m off to the next project.

Today I have to do a little woodshedding for tomorrow’s gig, I haven’t given it a thought all week, as I was busy with other “stuff”. Also want to keep feeding the 3D printer projects to run while I’m otherwise occupied. I’ve got drawings about a dozen projects ready to go.

Good morning, the low is 3 and going to a high of 12°F. Wind NNE 2 mph. Snow! About 8" or so.

I WILL be plowing tomorrow.

Just to spite me yesterday suppertime, my 4 year old tomcat was mooching as usual and I told him he wouldn't like my bar-b-que ribs. I gave him a little taster and be dammed if he didn't eat it and want more. The 12 year old tomcat tried a little taste, sneezed and left the kitchen.

I don't think I will be doing much of anything today. Tomorrow, IF I remember I will take a video of the biggest snow pile I have.

There has been a lot of development around me as well. Fortunately for me, I’m surrounded on 3 sides by hundreds of acres of preserved farmland, the fourth side is the road. But with in 5 minutes, I can be stuck in traffic looking at 4 story luxury apartment buildings being built.

The only real upside to the urbanization is that I can leave my oasis and be in a grocery store in 5 minutes or so with only one stop sign to impede my progress. Lots of choices of restaurants, a Wawa, a large new hardware store (that unfortunately doesn’t have number drills, but has a great selection of Yeti tumblers).
