Good Morning,
Ct, 10 to start going to 22 ! At least the sun is shining !

Drew, glad you got the power back on. The whole house Generac generators are nice but not cheap ! I have a little 8 kw Honda unit which does a good job but it’s really too small ! Just my hot water heater alone is 4500 watts ! So I have to cycle that at the breaker panel !

Paul, that unit looks great ! I figured that with those cutouts it would be something like that on the hookup ! Will be interested to see the final when done ! Will you be using it for removing downed trees from the woods etc ? Nicely done !

As they say about snow..."Poor man fertilizer"

Thomas, indeed they do ! We need to get some benefit from it !

Maybe get into a little cellar cleanout or some other indoor activity today ! Work tomorrow, should be an adventure with a thick layer of ice on all the snow cover ! Hope I can break through the ice or pulling oil hose will be tough !

Good Morning
15° with a high on the low 20’s under a mostly clear sky for today.
Today starts off with breakfast with the professor, then back to the shop. Hopefully I’ll get the winch finished, but I’m waiting for some parts.
That means I can continue to clean up while I wait for FedEx and UPS to arrive.
I should take the carryall to the woodshed for a load of firewood to replenish my garage stockpile. I can’t get there when the ground isn’t frozen solid without making a mess until it dries up after the thaw.
I’ve been using a lot of firewood during this cold spell, it’s nice to park in the recliner in front of the fire.

Other than that, I’ll wait to see what the day brings my way.

Good morning, the low is -7 and going to a high of 5 above. Wind W 9 mph. They are saying 'periods of snow' but no accumulation. I find that hard to believe at 5° above zero.

Today is dump/town/pay the tow bill day. I'll turn the block heater for the Dodge on at 8. 4 hours should take some of the chill off it.

I would love to have a 'whole house automatic genny', but one isn't in the budget unless I win the lottery.

Time to get on with my day.

Picked up more branches, more Ash fell, all fine, just more cleanup I knew was coming.
Worked on prepping trim for garage.
I have the last trim pieces ready for pickup, will go get them this week sometime.

Cold enough that the dog was quick about her business this morning.

Maybe reload the front wood rack, it's getting low.

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 6:15AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High 68F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph.

The third realtor I reached out to last week finally called back, but the phone never rang. Seems to happen a lot here. She left a message with a pretty lame excuse, and I'd already found a different realtor from the same company, but differrent office. He's got great reviews, but didn't impress me as much of a go getter. So have three realtors to meet up at the old house next week.

Got a few more boxes unpacked, and sold the queen size bed that used to be in the guest room. Spare room in this house is too small for the bed; too much other stuff in there that also needs to go. Found a furniture store going out of business, and will get by there this week to look at the sofa beds they have on sale. That'll replace the livingroom sofa, and not tie up a room when a guest overnights. Got some other ads placed, got a nibble on a pallet jack and a love seat.

Just now found that the USPS is holding a package for pickup that they've had for almost two weeks. But when I tried to login to the USPS website, it refuses my password. And when I try to reset my password, the temporary password they assign triggers a "bad password format" error message. Emailed their tech support, and now I wait. Day's not getting off to a very good start...

Power must have flickered off briefly overnight, as the tell-tale sign is a touch lamp in the living room that comes on when that happens. No clocks needed resetting, though.

challenging morning, twice route 113 closed due to trees down, had to reroute and of course gps failed.
main road coming into NewHope from the South still closed
friend picked me up and we went to breakfast. Place was closed on Tuesday.
then brother called and said his wife just tested positive for covid, I was there Sunday night for dinner....
geez, so we immediately came home, didn't want to expose my friend to anything in case I got unlucky.

65°F and 0 rain. Read yesterday where the state of hawaii is in a drought.

Sears tech finally showed late afternoon, washer fixed. They will not be fixing dryer due to parts availability, nor replace it, but offer a cash out. I found and ordered the parts online.

The Longan picking HH was fun. Of course I got there quite late but got to socialize.

Today I have 2 VA disability exams at the hospital in Waimea, pulmonary function and thyroid. Could be interesting.

That’s what I thought. My B2910 is a better sized Cat 1 tractor. I did some searching on Amazon. Found Pintle hitch for less than $50. Not worth all my effort to make a version out of my pile of scrap metal

I had some Philips "smart" lights that would do the same. When the Camp Fire came, PG&E shut the power off, then a week or so later restored it. Unfortunately I was evacuated for another two weeks, and when I was finally allowed to return home, all of those Philips lights had been on all that time. Felt like the fire was taking one last swing at burning the house down. Don't have 'em any more.

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 9.7C and it's presently dipped to 6.6C [it's pretty much dawn]. Clear and calm.

We are at our normal snow on the ground for February. 16" So they say in the paper today. My drilled well cap is 16" up from grade and I cannot see it. So I think we have a bit more than the 16".

Evening all!
Currently 16 dropping to 8 and still windy.
We never lost power so feel good about that.
Driveways at all 3 locations are glazed with ice.
Not sure what we will do about that as it's not supposed to go above freezing till Sunday.
I'm out for what ever anyway as I injured my arthritic thumb so bad it is now black and blue all the way around!
Won't be in the shop much either I think. Kind of hard to hold or turn stuff. Might try some left handed work. Will see in a couple days if the pain doesn't stop.

Pellet stove is working perfect now.

Nothing else planned except for a trip to the fuel depot to get diesel for the tractor. 10 gallons gone already this snow season.

I did manage to get this hollow form finished yesterday. Just needed buffing and wax.

Guess that's it for now.
