Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 8.7C and it's presently warmed up to 16.3C, overcast with wind. There was 6.0mm in the gauge @ 0900.

<snert> There was a morning report of some snow at the high elevations in Tassie. :D

So far I've dhobied a load of towels. I'll need to do a tip run for recyclables (OK... wine bottles) and my wheelie bin. Other things will be done today.

That's about it, take care all.

My wife woke me up with something this morning.

While we agree'd to not say anything for the first 3 months, all of her friends knew by lunch. Including my mother.

So why not, one more jewsian to the mix.

Coffee is brewing. 24° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 33° with chance of snow and ice. Other than topping off bird feeders. Yesterday was a conserve energy day. Just do not understand I did not sleep good last night. Going to get back at whole filter project today. Need to make sure I have all the fittings I need to complete job. May have to do some snow plowing before day is over.

18 going to 38...should get above freezing about noon. Dang L4N, it gets cold up your way.

A nice Christmas present for you and your wife...congrats fatjay!

Glad you checked in, LS. Prayers continue for you and Dona.

Prayers for you and your wife, Fuddy.

...and for you and Holly, Buppies.

Did some firewood work, and then changed the batteries on the smoke alarms...only one day late from the solstice. I always put date stickers on the batteries, and found one with a June solstice date...of 2023! It still had 9.1 volts, so guess as backup batteries, they don't get a lot of drain.

Two of the smoke detectors are on cathedral ceilings. Just high enough that when I use the step ladder, I have to step on that "Danger. Do not step on or above this step" step. So, usually my wife holds the ladder and is ready to catch me 😁. But she was off shopping, so I got smart and tried the shorter extension ladder...fortunately there is a wooden beam near each device, so placing the ladder wasn't hard, and worked fast and safely...the hard part was maneuvering it through the house, while not destroying the Christmas tree in the process.

Good morning! 57˚F heading to the 70s, about 10 ˚ warmer than yesterday. S winds, partly cloudy.

Yesterday was my last scheduled day at the Adventure farm this year and it was a good one. Happy people were waiting for me at the two stops instead of me waiting. I like it busy. I did a lot of extra stops to accommodate their needs since we were not overly crowded.

There are no festivals during January so I'm off for a while till February when the baby animals arrive and the tulips they planted last week come into bloom. Next November will also be the first time they start selling the five year old Christmas trees. they now have about 7-10 thousand planted. The strawberries fields are looking good for the Spring also.

Prayers for the sick wives.

Congratulations Fatjay!

some light snow predicted for tomorrow morning, Christmas Eve.
it's been so cold out the several inches of snow we got are still covering the ground
so it will be a pretty white Christmas.
possibly not the best for last minute local shopping but I love driving in the snow so hope I find
a reason to go out in it tomorrow.

need to find something special to leave out for the birds.
heated bird bath doing a good job, frozen edge all around but water still water
I wonder if birds get water from eating snow

congratulations FatJay. Mighty good news for Christmas.

Good morning TBN!!
20 degrees with a sunny 45 expected. Is it spring yet??
Good day yesterday albeit cold for most of the day.
Finally broke down and cut some firewood. We don't burn much. Kinda lost the appetite after 15 years of stoking 3 wood burners heating exclusively with wood. But with the heat limping decided we better.
I did get my steps in. 11,400 steps. More then the dog I think. Couldn't keep a close enough eye on him so he stayed at the house. It seems that somebody is dumping deer remains on our land and it is irresistible to Takoda. Not sure why anyone would think that is okay.
Probably do the same today. Or at least cut up the bucket length logs I loaded. Lots of wood left from Helene so we could heat with wood for a long time.
Still waiting on FEMA and the HVAC guy for parts...Sigh

Time for another cup and get the day started.

Have a great and safe day!!!

First off, thinking of those not doing well, Fuddy, LS, Buppies. Here is hoping some positive news and actions can come your way.

It's cold out this AM, 16 heading towards upper 30's. I don't have any plans for today. That worked out well for yesterday too. I managed to get a lot done. Got the chain saw out and took care of some branches by the driveway then ventured into the back woods and got an RTV load full of nice dry poplar. Then headed to the log splitter with it all. Log splitter though, lost air in a tire. So jacked it up, took the wheel off and over to the compressor we went. Got the wheel back on, pulled it out of the shed and it started right up. Managed to split the RTV load, so I headed back to the driveway and grabbed all that wood too. Managed to split it too. Should be set for a few weeks at least. Then came in and started dinner for the family. threw a couple of pork loins on the grill, turned the flood lights on so I could see and enjoyed a frosty one under the stars.

For a no plan day, it worked out rather well. Today, more of the same.

Tomorrow we are off on a road trip to one of my wife's sisters. Mentally, I am preparing myself. LOL.

Hope all have a great day, be safe.

Coworker fell off roof, broken ribs, concussion, is in hospital for observations.
Darn lucky. Be safe.
