Good Morning,
Ct, 36 to start going to 48 ! Still have on and off showers, hoping for some clearing later !

We had two of the grands over last night over night ! We had some friends come over with their grands son and had a little pizza party !

No nap, grilled brats for dinner.
Mostly, now your talking , my kind of meal !
I always thought it was so stupid, never thought real farmers would do something like that with their tractors.
Dennis , couldn’t agree more ! Wouldn’t do that with my almost 40 yo Massey ! 😉

Hope all have a great Saturday! 🙏

Good morning! 36˚F clear skies, S wind heading to the mid 70s.

Grocery stores are starting to get crowded. No Costco run yesterday just a yard mowing and a trip to the grocery store.

Today I get to take the lava rock out of the fire pit to examine the burner, I hope it is stainless steel. Digging around one side I found nothing.

The hot water plumbing in this house is special. Since the hot water heater is 120' from the shower the taco circulating pump is a necessity. The hot waterline must be in a circulating loop because the cold water is always cold. It does not take $5 a day extra to keep the hot water instant at all facets, maybe $.50 a day more on the natural gas bill from when the taco circulating pump was not working.
The lag time when the hot water is turned on is about 1 second per 25' from the hot water heater.

Hospice had a good day yesterday. Walked around a lot, BM, drank, ate, curled up in wife's lap. His meow voice is even getting better. The vet meds seem to be working.

Drew my Kubota 5030 HST max out at 23mph on the black top road. The adventure farm Kubota tractor's speed limit pulling a trailer is 3.1 MPH.

Is that what you are referring to Drew. One is ten years old other is eight years old. One has 557 hp other has 577hp but can get up to 26 mpg on the road

My (newly adopted me) cat follows me around the property, better than most dogs. I'm thinking of getting a harness/leash for him, just to be more in control of him on walks in the dark.

Anyone have experience with something like this, for a cat?

I always remember the name Barney Oldfield but didn't know it came from tractors.
I found this video well worth the time. Watch when you have a little time.
Allis Chalmers fans will love it.
when tractors went from steel wheels to rubber
and when tractor racing was a really big deal

I bet the Europeans turn up their Fendts and go racing

am amazed those rear tires stayed on their rims at that speed, they must have some kind of bead lock?

always found tractors to get wobbly and unhappy at higher speeds. Last one, the big Massey, it's top gear was one I never tried.
clearly made to go a lot faster than I wanted to.

I also found the sound of a Kubota hydro whining at top speed to be kinda unpleasant.
all the fast stuff must use powershift gear trans where they can add a taller top gear I guess.

so....begs the question
how fast have you gone on your tractor?

I believe some are rated from factory at 30+mph.
Most of us have/had hydros so top gear in those is much lower usually.

if I was in Texas and had four miles to get back to the barn, and the road was flat,
need for speed sure comes in
but if you are towing anything, can't imagine going too fast with that.

ever see a combine going by at 30mph? I haven't....
My Kioti is rated for 12 mph maximum speed. I run it in the middle gear most of the time. I tried high gear, but with the chains on I might as well had steel wheels on it. The ride was brutal.

If I did anything like that to my cats, they would not only disown me but would also leave me a little brown present on my pillow. :poop: :poop:

The high temp for today is 38 and it is going down to 36 after the sun? comes up. Wind WNW 9 mph. Periods of rain mixed with snow. It wont stay, the ground isn't frozen.

I'm not sure what I will get up to today, but rest assured it wont be much.

Have a safe day all

Morning all, 46 going up to 50 and some sun.
Rain has stopped, so nice to have had some.

Got suit and stuff ready for wedding later.
It's at a place that was my mothers favorite, we did a few Christmases there.

Had breakfast and will eat again tomorrow night when we get home.

Hope the kid doesn't have too many friends over ....

Saw the now very pregnant fox this morning. We will have pups in the spring. I am sure part of the size increase is also winter weight, and a few of our tasty squirrels.

Replaced a power supply on one of our outside lights, seems they left a gap during build, no QC :-(

Gotta finish packing, have a great weekend everyone.

Got some used oil taken to the recycle tank, their inspector was there so could only dump 5 gallon limit. I have about 20 gallons yet to get rid of, and this 5 gal was just the new oil I collected since my last trip there.
I had to make 2 trips to Wallyworld to dump off my 8 gallons.

Good evening all. Lost wallet, got credit cards stopped more later
glad the wallet was found....sorry for the hoopla of cancelling cards to be safe.

A couple of big dogs jumped Cody while walking and push me off balance. Scraped the knee but otherwise OK
When people can't control their pets, especially if they are aggressive, makes me mad.

48 outside this AM, may touch 70 today. Did not hear the weather report so no clues as to what the day will bring. There was talk of rain for today. It looks super foggy out this AM so it must be warmer than usual.

Got the honey-do list done at daughters, matter of fact the other two daughters managed to get down there too. So it was a first for all of us at the middles new house. Seems we all were together when we got the bad news of their grand fathers passing. Not sure what the arrangements will be as it was sudden but expected. For some of us in the family anyway, expected.

Made it home last night and need to unpack the tools this AM. Not sure what the next couple of days will bring. I know I need to be to the MD house at the end of the week. That's about all.

Hope all have a good day, be safe.
sorry about the grand father passing. hope your situations get resolved soon.

Good morning! I think I did It, finally beat Ron. 40˚F heading to the 70s, partly cloudy, N wind turning to E wind.
Poor little hospice is in his final days and eating less and less so I woke up to blend some tuna for him. As you might remember he was my mom's cat that we adopted after she died, he is 21years old now. His vet visit last week was probably his last. But he is a fighter and the antibiotic injection seemed to do some good, he had a sore in his mouth. He is getting lots of loving and does not appear to be in any pain, but we have some pain meds if he looks like he is uncomfortable.

Cypress trees are in larger pots and I bet the roots are happy.

Could be a Costco run today and maybe a lawn mowing. No rain in the 10 day forecast.
Feels like a nap will be on the agenda also if I can't get back to sleep.
I read your next post where Hospice is doing better. Glad to hear it.

Cypress trees need a lot of water. Don't plant them near any water or sewer lines. I planted one at the end of my a/c's water dripline and it grew fast.

No snow at home yet.
Son hasn’t complained about any pain, and is only taking ibuprofen.
He hasn’t heard if his work will approve short term disability. He can’t use it at all for 6-8 weeks.
sounds like snow headed to the eastern areas today.
Hope son heals well, and a year from now looks back at all this in the rearview mirror.

I witnessed a wreck on the way to work yesterday. A mom with 3 kids in her sequoia pulled out in front of a small grand am type car. Fortunately, she just glanced the side of the grand am. If she had pulled out 1 second sooner, it would have been a full on T bone crash. It took the ambulance 15 minutes to get to the wreck. The passenger in the grand am was leaning back in his seat when it happened, he ended up with facial injuries and teeth busted out. I pray he ends up OK. The mom pulling out was distrought. Where she pulled out, the side road has a limited view of the main highway, and the sun was bright in her face. Also, the grand am did not have headlights on, and the front end paint was all corroded and looked similar to the road's asphalt.

Work was very busy all week. I found out my great boss, will be accepting a full lecturing position, and will not be my boss anymore. I'm sad about this. I've been approached by the program's head boss about assuming the position. My boss actually recommended against taking it. (there are some problem child employees). It probably wouldn't come with a significant raise if any. I guess I can use a money demand for an excuse not to take the position. I prefer to do what I'm doing. The other worry is who would be my boss. If one of the problem employees becomes my boss, it could be a reason to leave. A great boss, helps have a great life. A bad boss, can make your life miserable.

So much going on. Hope you guys can keep control of the blood sugar. Prayers for our team and their families, our nation, Ukraine and ******.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 8:15AM. Cloudy with a few showers. High 58F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Picked up another 3.6" of rain yesterday. Easing up a little for today, but the 10-day is still damp until Wednesday.

There's a couple miles of very rough blacktop between the old house and a neighbor that would ask for tractor favors once in a while. Never got over 15 MPH because too afraid of losing control over the bumps.

Must have taken some of the switches down south last trip because now I'm missing a couple. But I did get the wiring for two overhead lights identified and hooked up. Somehow during all this the lights in the guest bathroom stopped working, so I'll focus on that today.

Another neighbor wants help coping and welding some joints on 8" pipe, which would be a new experience for me. YouTube U to the rescue:
Coping using a home made paper template at 45°.

Coping to a random angle using cut and fit to make a plastic template:

Probably go over and have a peek at what he's doing, then sneak into town to pick up a turkey roasting pan and run an errand or two. Gonna wait until after it stops raining, though.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend...

If a cat did that to me, it would never enter my home again. My cat is a barn cat, and she actually doesn't like to come inside. We brought her in for the ice week in 2021, and she just stayed under an end table. Of course, I live in south Texas too, so there's that.

I need to go prep her winter bed, which starts as a cushioned lawn chair, that I build a framed canopy over that encloses with blankets to lay on and cover her. I put a radiant warmer element (no light) aimed down to her. She loves it, it keeps her toasty. She comes and goes to control her body temp. This is inside my barn, which has a pet portal in the man door. She sleeps all winter long in this setup. The blankets need laundered.

65°F and 0 rain

Off to Hilo town this morning. Back to Toyota dealer to get Sophie’s running boards installed. Guess that will take a big chunk out of the morning. So far this new truck purchase has claimed some sort of attention everyday since last Sat. Be good to get back to normal.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day.

Kyle, we had a bad boss in the tanker division for about 3 years. He accused me of trying to stab him in the back...I told him that if I was going to stab him at all he would see it coming because I would put the virtual knife right between his eyes.
He eventually took a money saving shortcut that cost the company 120,000 Litres (31,700 US gallons) of Magnesium Chloride. I could have 'sunk his ship' after that screwup, but chose to let him sink his own ship. He was encouraged to move on after that.

39 looking for 57, and windy. Little bit of rain here yesterday, but snowed enough that Shenandoah closed the Skyland Drive.

We took my wife's Highlander in for its annual inspection...I've mentioned before that the Toyota dealer doesn't charge anything, and has a fancy coffee/latte machine. Plus, I get to walk around and drool at the new Tundras and Land Cruisers...but boy was the inventory sparse...the service guy said they were mostly sold before they arrived.

For a couple of years they've been using text messages to keep you informed of the status of your service, but this time they added a feature...a video made by the tech as he shows you what he is talking about if he recommends something...this one featured the rear brake and brake fluid reservoir...saying the pads are good now, but likely needs replacement before next annual inspection...so left with a $0 bill, and went straight to our favorite Chinese restaurant. Good day.

Sounds like interesting dealer
Sophie got her Pilot because no Sequoias or Highlanders available. Understand that currently a Sequioas are possibly a year out.

Good Afternoon GS,
Anyone have experience with something like this, for a cat?
Yes I have ! Many years ago we had a male cat named Spike, and I would be out working on the property and watch me work ! 😀 He was a great cat and very good company ! 🙏

Good Afternoon RNG,
Coping using a home made paper template at 45°
If your using small diameter pipe, could you just use an end mill in your Bridgeport Mill and do the same thing ? Obviously the same diameter as the pipe !
I see your neighbor wants to do that with 8” pipe so that rule out that method !
Interesting video with that layout method ! Thanks !

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low was a balmy 18.6C and it's presently dropped to 17.7C, overcast with a gentle breeze.

Lovely weather day, yesterday. The 'end is in sight' for wood stacking... 3 days worth remaining, doing a couple of hours at a time.

As per usual, I'm off to Church (leading the Morning Prayer service) in a while and then the rest of the day is His.

That's about it, take care all.
