Good morning!!!!

Good Morning
31° and mostly cloudy, high of 49 forecast, and the clouds will persist, but not yield any rain.

Yesterday was reasonably productive, got the timer installed and setup for the hot water recirculation, seems to work well.

Made a HD run with the KubVan to pick up some T-111 to make new doors for a storage shed. Also some PT 2x4’s and Azek trim. Continued to clean up the shop, making progress on many fronts.

Airport Authority meeting was in eventful, we made the decision to raise the rents 3.4% to follow the CPI for our region. it’s always a hard decision, but grants and rent are our only sources of income, and we continually maintain and improve the airports, and those costs aren’t static.

Today, I’ll likely build the shed doors, install an outlet or two that the wife has decided she needed, and see what else pops up.

I have Don's old electric splitter. It works OK. I am bad about not splitting wood while it is green because I usually only take down oaks that have died. The big rounds are tough to split. You can cut a notch with a chain saw to help. Not sure how yardmax 6.5 is getting the extra power, because these are mostly the same splitter. It would need a bigger diameter ram, or higher hydraulic pressure for the extra power. Still, I would choose it for just the small price difference.

Buppies, sad day for worker and his family. Condolences.

Off to the hospital.

Morning all, 37 up to 50 and cloudy, dry.
Well, old car pickup did not happen yesterday, it only takes two companies going back and forth to mess up a schedule.
Will retry for tomorrow.

Taking wife to a place she wanted to try this weekend for her birthday.

Today we hopefully pick up her new car. Need to cut the check later.

Thomas - Brother has had EKG, stents, all kinds of medicine, he tries to exercise everyday, but he is always tired and they don't know why.

Sorry about the fall Buppies, hope you didn't get too hurt. Prayers to your employees family, so young.

I had a large area of bamboo when I bought the house. Why I got the brush cutter. Took many hours to get it cut down, then spray and cutting for the next two years. When I got the tractor, used the backhoe to rip out the last roots. Nasty stuff. Neighbor has a whole area of bamboo on the road, separated from me by the roadway.

Mostly, can't fix old splitter with new hose or pump as needed?

Good luck on driving test L4N!

Be well,

Good evening all. 57ºF for the start, overcast, moderate breeze. Got windy, brisk gusts, Sky cleared off, and high temp was 73ºF. Made coffee to start day, Men's meeting, then bike ride, wind made it harder, Then lunch, then nap, then some wood splitting, my Earthquake splitter start pouring out hydraulic oil, so sure it is dead :(. Ryobi has an electric 5 ton for $300 and yardmax 6.5 ton for $310, thoughts? I split up to a cord of wood a year. Also need to replace Trolling motor batteries.
*snipped for space*

Mostly, sorry about your luck with the splitter. My uncle has one of the electric 5 tons and he enjoys it. I don't know if I'd like to split a cord of wood with it, but for that price I can see why it's attractive.

Did you have the trolling motor batteries on a trickle charger? That always seems to work for my father, I'm fairly confident he still has the original battery and it's been 5+ years now.

Best of luck!

Morning all;

It is going to be a fairly relaxed day today. Got to call the tractor dealership and see when my new rear tires will be in.
And then putter with all the settings in my wife's new car, there are a lot of them to set and or reset.

The entry and exit is much more comfortable then her little Jeep Compass was and the ride is even pretty decent considering the 21" 275/40r21 tires have 41 PSI in them. Nice power and driveability so far.
On the drive from the dealership to home it averaged 2.6 miles per Kwh. Which supposedly converts to 87.63 MPGe. In our case I'm at close to $0.20 per kwh

Looks nice inside. Thanks for sharing the pictures! I find that marketing materials can be hard to interpret some times.

That m/kWh number seems on the low side, given other EVs today. I would be interested in if/how it changes as you and your wife drive it more.

All the best,

Peter

David, I keep thinking of the jungle you are trying to mow. Wonder if you might be better hiring a company to bush mow it for you, beat it back to a level
where your equipment is sized for it. Honestly looks like you are trying to do too much though I guess if you go super slowly it will digest all that brush.

locally I have two friends who have inherited properties where the prior owner planted bamboo. Now illegal due to invasive species, the bamboo grows so closely together even the deer can't fit through there. Sure does make a sight block though, even in winter.
Drew, I sorta agree. Neighbor rear of has numerous clumps of overgrown bamboo and other things. She is in process of clearing much of it. Excavator type machine with hydraulic mulching head. Told me it was $1500 for 8 hour day. Didn’t ask, but believe the guy is a family friend. He doesn’t work there every day.
As for mine, a the cumulative results of various factors. That area of tall guinea grass near the road is only area I’ve never completely mowed before. It was part of the area I rented to potato farmer. He left it much rougher than I realized and this last year or so the guinea grass has taken over. When it started I didn’t have operational rotary mower and my tractor being down almost a year surely didn’t help.
That area I got stuck last week used to get mowed until I let the farmer plant some sort of Mexican sunflower. Over the years since I managed to eliminate most of it, contributing to demise of my Rhino mower. This year, it took advantage. Likely never get it eliminated as it is down in an area I’ll never get, even with big equipment, as it reseeds.
I need more patience. It has been so rainy and wet that I am not giving enough time to dry out and then when things are going well i get carried away. I’ll win, but over time. 😁
