Often have felt unsafe doing that with the mail box being on the other side of the road and not much distance from turns in the road. And at times had to cut a box open to remove it from being jammed into the box. May be time for driving the van up to check mail. At least there is a lot of metal to crunch up if it gets hit

I lost a long time friend last year. He was at his mailbox when hit by a passing car. I do not enter the road to retrieve my mail. I have looked at mailboxes that can be accessed from front or back.

Working on paperwork for old car and new one today. Wife found one last night.
Old car was BMW 328i Xdrive, new is 330i. Both bought used.
We talked to the local BMW independent, he recommended not trying to do an engine swap. Since is it 2015 car and would still have possible issues with oil pump drive or timing chain. So cost goes up a lot. And getting the showhorned engine in/out is lots of work with xdrive.

Need to purge the hoses can cover the bibs tonight. Looks like first long freeze is coming.

Buppies, 2300 tons, well thats a huge amount. Seems like a lot of work, but you keep it moving.

Wngsprd - sounds like a life well lived for your mom.

Rip - that is such sad news , prayers to your neighbors family. We have to worry about that here on the downhill with people speeding up. Don't understand how people can run.

Did that years ago with a pot of beans. Went to church and thought I'd turned the burner all the way down, only to find out I had put it to full. On top of that, church lasted an extra 2 hours because of meetings. A 2" thick carbon insulator formed in the bottom of the pot, that kept the pot from catching fire and burning down my house.

Edit: when we got home from church, we could smell it as we pulled near the home. There was a thick layer of smoke throughout the home from the ceiling about halfway to the floor. I put the exhaust fans in the windows as I crawled around below the layer of smoke.

Don't breathe ozone! Get you an ozone device, and leave the house with it on for some hours. holding your breath or using scuba, go back into house and turn it off, open windows, let home breathe, put fans in windows to exhaust. I had to use a really small ozone device, hooked up to with a fish aquarium air pump, to inject ozone in cracks around my vent hood and cabinets to get the burn smell level to a tolerable level. Ozone will literally melt latex and other types of plastics, so be careful.

have thought of using ozone, and am aware of dangers. Obvious smell as I just walked back in the house.

Rip, Condolence for the neighbor. My mailbox is on other side of a busy road, and I have had some close calls. Have had to scramble up the bank beside the box a couple times when cars came down the road fast. I wait till no one in sight either way, but when the mail person jambs an oversized package in, it takes awhile to get it out.

chatted with Ken for a few minutes this morning, took a nice walk through his lower field and checked out the
remaining dead ash trees. He has enough firewood for a century.

Ken we have owned numerous BMWs always had good luck 525 and 528s. Average mileage 225000 plus before trading. The last one we had X7 not put together as well in our opinion.

It’s takes us on average about two minutes to empty a truck of 18 tons each. Long runs 24 feet wide 12 feet per side VDOT road

But keep us posted. Some of us rely on reading your posts to remind us of Hawaii. I probably spent 3 or 4 months all told supporting the troops at Fort Shafter. Most of it outside. Far different from my Vermont & Virginia climate.
