61 and sunny
21% humidity
need to remember to not run the exhaust fan when I shower, keep some humidity in the house.
even the basement feels dry, the dehumidifier sitting quiet
guess it's time to break out the humidifier in the bedroom.

had a nice long Facetime session with sister, on the phone instead of pc, and it worked fine.
she said weather in Muir Beach has been beautiful

my SIL is making a nice dinner for me to welcome me home.
She asked what I wanted. I said either shrimp and scallops alfredo or
home made meatballs and sausage over angel hair.
and she makes a mean red sauce.
not like I can lose... :giggle:
have no idea what I'll get.
hmmm, I should bring some Tupperware and just lay it on the counter with my last three tomatoes.
Bet it comes home with something good in it.

life is good and comes in the form of a spicy meatball...

Made a run to the post office and a nice long way around going back.

GD called to fill us in on her college plans next year. She is now accepted at 7 colleges and is likely to get more acceptances. D's help with this process is paying off. Parents don't make much money so she should qualify for scholarships. Glad she decided to major in accounting. Acting was not going to be a certain thing to avoid having to waitress

Setting up a fire pit using steel tire rings. Stacking two should work. Using 4 of them for wife's hanging flowers. They were all found up in the tree line from wagons that had rotted away.

Good Afternoon,
my first stop is at my friend's mountain cabin near Arkville NY, where I've been going for 52 years now.
Drew, we are in East Wells, Vt , you are more than welcome there ! I would just need to plan on being there while your passing through ! On the route that you posted, we are maybe half hour from Whitehall , Ny. So not too far ! You could put your camper behind our house or barn ! If the weather cooperates we can get you out on Lake St Catherine on our pontoon boat ! I can give you more specific directions when you have your dates planned ! But we are only 3.5 miles off of Vt route 30 !

Well a bit late for morning or even afternoon,
So evening all.

Fairly quite day a bit cool and few scattered light showers and much cooler today only 44F at 6 PM and starting to get dark out.

Went down Friday and picked up my new front tires for the Branson, tire man coming up Monday to mount them, I had contemplated mounting them myself, but it will be much easier to watch him do them.

We shall see how they work out, not deep lugged like the R1's but more aggressive and more knobby treads and heavier sidewalls then an R14.

All stay safe and get well.
What’s the nomenclature?

61F and sunny @ 13:15, calling for a high of around 64F for the day.

Have been working on coating the new Raw Rutes cabbage shredder with flaxseed oil over the past couple of weeks, probably got a dozen coats put on it ... which ought to be good enough.

Then spent most of yesterday shredding cabbage and working on the sauerkraut ... assisted by my very able assistant (aka The Furry Pest™):

IMG_3475 copy.jpg

First batch after adding the Kosher salt and a thorough massaging:

IMG_3476 copy.jpg

Second batch just after shredding:

IMG_3477 copy.jpg

Added some whole peppercorns and then dug out some very old Caraway seeds - which are probably close to being as old as I am - and mixed those in. They still had some fragrance but probably won't be as strong as fresher ones would be.

Think I'll try some juniper berries the next time.

Got it all loaded into the 5 gallon crock. First batch was 7 lbs 15.7 ounces, second batch was 7 lbs 15.1 ounces ... for a grand total of 15 lbs 14.8 ounces.

Still have a more couple of heads to shred and add into the crock. Crock is at least 1/3 full at this point, maybe closer to half.

Would be a nice day to get out there and mulch some leaves but Cub is now @ 700 hours +/-, and due for an oil change and an air pre filter cleaning. Need to add some oil to the Menards order to do that.

Supposed to be 78F and sunny on Tuesday so will probably hold off on the lawn until then, get the oil changed tomorrow when it's supposed to be 71F. Will probably be the last actual mowing for the year ... unless temps stay above normal and it's unusually warm.

Woman on a tear doing housecleaning the last 2 days.

Cleveland Browns should be coming on so will probably watch that after I get that Menards order placed.

Hope everyone is having a decent Sunday ... (y)

And then headed North to a museum in Shelburne VT, and then over/down to Boston and back home.
I really enjoyed the American Precision Museum in Windsor, VT.
You might not be as interested in seeing Bridgeport Mill serial number one as me, but there is a lot to see.

Thank you Newberry,

Making the steel tires was my first job as a 15 year old blacksmith helper. The blacksmith would set the tempo with his hammer and I was to follow up each hit with a hit by the sledge hammer.
Had to not slow down and get as many hits as possible before loosing the heat. Then forge weld it into a ring
Not for the weak for sure and the satisfaction was when the tire fit on the wooden wheel glowing hot and smoking from wood burning and then douse it with water to shrink it tight making the wheel very strong

Drew. I'm 68 miles west of Boston. If you drive by my place you can go to Historic Deerfield village. Home - Historic Deerfield
There is a historic train yard in Buckland also but I've never been there. The bridge of flowers and the butterfly museum are both great places to visit. Parking at the bridge might be an issue though.
There is a dinosaur footprint down in Holyoke that might be on your way south depending on your itinerary.
We have the Otter River state forest and camp ground about 4 miles from me.
https://www.mass.gov/locations/otter-river-state-forest
I also have a nice flat spot you could park on for a rest. 110 power cord would be available also.
Let me know the date and time and I'll try to make sure I'm available.

Drew I think you would really enjoy Boston, the Commons, the Gardens, the Historic area. If possible, maybe you can park RV outside of city and take MTA. Likely some non walking tours available. Many, many years ago I thought it would be ideal to have a winter residence someplace warm and a Boston residence for non winter, in the city.

I’m pretty good at ignoring the ads, refuse to click on them. Seems I always have at least 2 in right margin and then floating ads every few posts. AAF I think the kids say. The Tapatalk app is even worse. Miss the old TBN app.
Maybe time to find an adblocker.

Stayed with friends a long time ago in Boston along Charles River water front and they took us all over the city. I think it is well worth a visit. Also visited Newton outside Boston. Very nice area.
Spent a lot of time in New England area with suppliers and completing projects. Schenectady
at the time was not on my return list but I am sure it has cleaned up since. Worcester is an old town with a lot of antique shops around in the area. Hartford was clean and nice area. Providence was interesting and remember how the city enforced some strict building codes to blend in with the old houses in the city

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 8.3C and it's presently 19.0C, lightly overcast and fairly calm.

Apparently it's another 'holiday' in Tasmania again. "Recreation Day"... I don't know why. Being retired, I continually get surprised by these occasions. Heck, I have trouble remembering what day it is, at times.

That's about it, take care all.

Looks like this will be the last time to church for the next couple of weeks since there aren’t any Episcopal churches down there that I have seen !
You could attend a Roman Catholic church, if you'd like.
A few decades ago, a 'deal/understanding' was reached between the Anglican/Episcopal and RC churches that we could receive communion in each others.
