Good morning!!!!

Good morning! Low of 49°, heading to 80°, slight chance of a passing "sprinkle". A better (40%) chance of showers on Sunday when a front comes through.

That front will lower the highs next wek into the mid and low 70's. Lows around 40°. It's about time for cooler weather!

Been running errands, which seem to be taking up more time than normal..... somehow I lost 2 days... and I'm still not done!

Successful trip picking up the pellets, unfortunately they didn't unload themselves into the garage overnight....
That's on the list this morning, then a trip to Costco this afternoon. Did fill the truck there yesterday, $2.68 a gallon.

PT has been strange.... they are manipulating the nerves around the knee. Painful at times, like a toothache. After last week's session, had the sharp pains for 3 days. Yesterday's session only gave me a few jolts last night. Hopefully stays that way!

Wifey forgot about 2 willows on the opposite side of the drive.... had to pick up 8 more mums to plant around those. Still have more transplanting to do, picked up more nursery soil. I think I know what we're going to do this weekend.....

Still have to reconfigure the drip irrigation too. Noticed a broken branch on one of the back trees, have to get that cut off.

Where has all the time gone? I need to get better traction, seems I'm slipping a bit.....

I think the hummingbirds have left for warmer tropical beaches.... just leaving the feeders out a little longer for any stragglers. Bird seed consumption is way down too.

Been dealing with Discount Tire for close to 35 years. Always the best deal and no hassles. They have done multiple "fixes" without cost.

Everyone have a great day and start to the weekend!

Hay Dude, I guess you are going to need to wait until the dew dries off before you can start baling?
You'll have to let the hay lay for a few days before it can be baled
The stems have to dry

since RV 30A are 120V, didn't realize RV 50A are 120/240V.
yes, hence my curiosity as to what the adapter does, I'm assuming just picking up one leg. If they offer a 50amp outlet in addition to the 30, I've been using it.
just not sure if I'm accomplishing anything whatsoever. 30 amp receptacles tend to be worn out more; I'm found two bad ones on this trip already.

I am not an electrician but I think this is all correct:

30A RV (120V) has a hot, neutral, and ground. Just l like a household 15A plug in your house except will carry more amps. (black white green)

50A RV has two hots, neutral, and ground. 240V. 120V from each of the two 120v hot legs. (black red white green)

It might affect you, and might not, but the transfer switch in my motorhome does some additional "things" based on whether it senses incoming 120V / 30amp or 240V / 50amp. Such as which appliances are "allowed" to be run all at the same time.

I know that on 30amp, in my RV, it will not allow or send any power to the 2nd air conditioner. Generator panel says "load shed" to tell me that. With a single a/c in an RV, that is not an issue. But watch for something like the a/c and microwave running at the same time on 30a vs 50a.

I also ran into a very strange oddity recently when buying a backup portable generator for the RV. The RV refused to accept power from it even though it was producing 30am "RV" power. I needed to add a neutral ground bonding plug. Something about a difference in ground or "floating neutral" between a house and an RV.

very helpful Plowhog, thank you
I do wonder if wire gauge is thicker on the dual hot legs in a 50a circuit vs the single leg or whether there is more capacity on surges.

the good news for me is the soft start I installed on my single Dometic a/c works wonderfully. Quieter starting, not sure it's any quieter running, just seems happier.
my big issue is having the electric hot water heater on, the battery charger for the house battery bank kicks on, my fridge compressor kicks on, my portable freezer adds its surges, and then add a microwave and you hear and see the difference.
my favorite toaster oven is the killer, that's a full 1500 watts on the counter top.
you just have to manage loads, either electronically like Plowhogs motorhome, which acts like the load shedder on many Generac home gens, or manually by my being careful how many things are turned on at once.

I have a long history with this, living aboard my boat in Florida with four a/cs running and a wife who had it all, dishwasher, microwave, big fridge.
I had a 50amp boat and a 100 amp wife.
I bet a few of you have been in the same boat...

it's a good idea to provide 50 amps to modern wives...
some may not do well with 30.

though in an rv if you can barbecue out that's the best.

I can see why the amp draw increased to the point of tripping breakers when my wiring started to melt down. So far ok but I am very cautious until that transfer box is swapped out.

Ah, love that group.
They played the National Mall about the Carter administration.
We had a blanket about 80 yards from the stage and I was able to wiggle through the crowd to the stage. Lots of girls and guys coated in suntan lotion.
Good times.

67°F and 1.41 inches rain. A wet one.

Spent too much time chasing down an electrical problem yesterday, but at least I found it.

Guys final won at H&F. Not by a big score, but enough

Meeting and treating Sophie’s brother to birthday lunch today. Normal Friday errands will be later than usual.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

yes, it just picks up the one leg. on mine, the left side if the ground is on top. They have a tag on it for you not to overload the watts listed, as the adapter, and my RV wiring is 10 Ga. good for 30 A.

Also why you can't use the old style 240V dryer receptacles, that don't have a neutral.

Good times.
I saw them on DC mall in 1984. Have seen them at least 3 times, listened from outside Merriweather Post Pavilion another time.
last night was 5th row, but on the side. Our friends in 8th row center had better seats.

My sister is seeing them tomorrow night in Wheeling WV.

67°F and mostly cloudy this morning, going up to 89° today. The slight chance for rain missed us this morning. Again. Forecast says chance for rain every day Sunday through Wednesday, and temps next week in the mid-70s. Not going to hate that. Really just want some rain, though.

I still have all the vinyl albums I bought in the '70s and early '80s, BEF. I started buying CDs in '84, and still do.

Good afternoon, gents.

My brother had enough albums to cover a large wall, to the ceiling.
I probably had 4-500 at one time.
Now my son has about a hundred or so and collects editions from some artists.
Funny how vinyl has come back around here. At least 4 record exchanges and a few more stores that sell vinyl in easy driving distance.

My wife & I are to attend a wedding October first in Lisbon, Portugal...I'm an usher.
We went to our local post office for passports two months ago. About $400, application, pictures, etc. Wife received hers two weeks later...I never got mine. Instead I get email & letter saying I never signed application.
So back to post office where they showed a copy & I DID sign it. So more $, another application & picture, resubmitted.
I called 2 weeks ago, US State Department, agent assured me I'd receive it on time & check back today which I just did. Agent said they're working on it & I need pay another $82 to expedite but no guarantee I'd get it in time!
I said why don't I pay $1,000 to be sure it's on time...agent disconnected call.
I call my Congressman & had to print/copy/email a consent form which I did.
What a h/// to go through!

yep $185 per person at post office, if passport issued after 1994 even more.
We have to pay this for the kid every 5 years.

For us $150 by mail expedited every 10 years.

So not cheap. We have had no issues time wise or exceptions. But with the mail and how the gov works, being right is just luck of the draw I would expect. Hope it shows up soon.

Don't forget to try the port.

Wait till you try and get a visa at a foreign embassy, that's even less fun. For China we paid an expediter after the hassle getting our India visa.

Fall
since RV 30A are 120V, didn't realize RV 50A are 120/240V.
my super C motorhome was wired for 50 amp. 2 legs of 50 amp 120. There were no 240 appliances. Some high end RVs have 240 volt appliance's. But they are rare. When a 30 amp RV hooks to a 50 amp box. It gets 50 amps of 120 from 1 leg of the 50 amp box. Front and rear AC’s were wired to different legs of the of the 50 amp circuits.
Most people do not realize that going from 30 amp RV to 50 amp RV is a total of 100 amps of 120.

Decided to stack some firewood and use the tractor to pick it up. Discovered the front tire was flat and also discovered it would not get out of 4 wheel drive mode.
Jacked up the front axel and took the tire off. Milwaukee impact came in handy. I was not able to lift the tire up in the van but fortunately the bucket was on the tractor so rolled it on the bucket, lifted it and rolled it into the van,
Going to the tire shop in the morning to see what it is wrong. Did not see any nails or punctures in the tire.
The handle for the 4 wheel drive moves normally up and down but will have get under it to see if a pin is missing in the linkage
