I am a firm believer that IF you have a tree within 50' of the power lines that is over the height of the lines it should come down. A lot of people around me don't agree with that thinking, but they are the first ones to b*tch when the power goes out.
That would be a few thousand trees along my main road :)

Though the Ash did a good job of taking themselves down and creating lots of power outages.

expensive morning
looking at one quarter of the screen
rubber heel caught on power cable to laptop, yanked it off table onto floor.
very lightweight, knew it was not durable and sure enough, the screen is almost gone.
so that's on the list for today with my sister, getting another laptop. And this time one a little heavier duty. This one only lasted six months, I knew it was too flimsy. Want a 4k screen so have to see what they have, or get one day delivery from Amazon.

next post hopefully on new one

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 8:00 AM in Orcutt, CA. Cloudy skies with a few showers this afternoon. High 68F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

Welcome to California, Drew! Traffic was a big reason I moved out of the SF Bay Area when I retired. Putting "the" in front of the route number, as in "the 101" is more a SoCal thing; I never heard it until my first ride down the coast to LA many years ago.
I kept looking around asking where are the guard rails?
But guard rails would spoil the view!
It's a bit unusual to get rain in the summer, but it's not unheard of.
The big issue with worn tires is hydroplaning. Lots of freeways out here have spots where water accumulates, especially 101. And since it doesn't rain all summer, the oil accumulates, too, so that the first rain turns the roads into ice rinks. America's Tire is the same company as Discount Tire in California, and they partner with Tire Rack for installation. The America's Tire here in Orcutt replaced a valve stem in a trailer tire for me, sent me down the road with three more new valves for the other tires, and wouldn't take a nickle for the service. Guess where my next set of tires will come from?
actually have a question on using my 50 amp adapter on a 30 amp cord.
just how much juice can I pull? more than 30 amps? if breaker on pole is 50, then only breaker applying would be rv panel breakers.
with a new transfer switch put in, will be safe again to pull full load.
with wire nuts still on those wires, been very hesitant to recreate my toaster.
Right now, the GFCI blows when I turn the power on to that circuit, but I watched a YouTube video this morning and I don't think I have the neutral hooked up to it correctly. So that's job1 this morning. It's a 50 amp circuit, and there are 50 amp, 30 amp, and 120VAC outlets on the wall box. Likely the only time you're drawing anything close to 50 amps is when the compressor starts. The high is only supposed to be 79F on Monday, so I don't think staying cool in your RV will be a problem.
Are you half way through the trip now?

Before we started excavation on the driveway up north, Tom, there was one spot where the gradient reached 24° (degrees, not percent). They got it down to 17°, and it could have been flatter if the dozer operator had followed directions. Very little snow up there in winter, but mud is a huge problem if I don't get the gravel down before it starts raining. Another item to check off the list next time I'm up there.

All this talk of snow and ice, and Fall's not even here yet. Sheesh! 😳🤣

I'm right with you on that, Bill. Unfortunately, the Dixie Fire two years ago was started by a pine that fell onto lines not far from the start of the Camp Fire. Dixie was the largest fire in California history at over 900,000 acres, and the Camp Fire was the deadliest with 85 lives taken. Both were caused by faulty maintenance of the lines, and PG&E got away with just a slap on the wrist.

Yesterday would have been a smooth 425 miles if it weren't for two horrible drivers I met on the way down. The first cut in front of me moving something like 15 MPH slower than I was traveling, causing me to jump on the brakes hard enough I was worried the wood in back would start flying. If that wasn't enough, the on ramp was covered in good sized gravel so the front end of the van got a good peppering. I didn't meet the other idiot until I got to Atascadero on US101 where a huge box truck merged into the slow lane doing no more than 25 MPH. I had maybe 150 feet to slam on the brakes, and almost took out is left rear bumper (the next lane over was full of cars). Took almost five minutes for traffic to clear enough to get around him, all at 25MPH.

The forecast here was calling for rain this morning, but now that seems to have slipped to the afternoon. So I've got a chance to play electrician still this morning, then maybe get some wood unloaded this afternoon...

Hang in there gang, Friday's comin'!

68°F and .07 inches rain.

Morning rain messed with my mowing plans yesterday.

As noted, a trip to VA website revealed my disability claim was approved. However further digging indicated that they likely acted on incomplete info, disregarding my enlisted time including my time in RVN. Now I need to do a supplemental claim.

Lobster dinner was a delightful treat.

After dark, I get a phone call. My neighbor is at my gate. Wife got a TRO and he needs a place to stay. Could be interesting. I know I want to be minimally involved.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
