As of this weekend, we have officially cut the proverbial cord on phone service. I say "proverbial" because for the last several years our home phone has been through Verizon, and was really just another cellular device that ran through a stationary receiver in the house. We almost never use it, so there was no point spending the extra money every month for it. Wife even sold the equipment on Facebook Marketplace yesterday; the receiver and the four piece cordless phone system..

We moved to AT&T wireless home phone a number of years ago after suffering terrible service from landland (hit or miss if you could make a call, bad static, service wouldn't come out anymore to attempt to fix it). We also grew tired of paying for the home phone that we were not really using. Got rid of the AT&T line, but got a Google Voice (free) and bought a box that hooks to network to get dial tone, hooked that to our cordless phone system. so if cell phones are not working, but internet is, we still have a way to call if needed. You can also use your Google voice on your cell phone. One of our daughters is a teacher and only gives out her Google Voice, never her cell phone.

off to put mower back on big Massey and go mow the rented land. If I get time I might put in a cover crop, something colorful or interesting through the winter that
won't create pollen or allergy problems. My lease with the land is up next June. About 1 1/2 acres. Landlord is in nursing home, affairs run by nasty daughter who accused me of trying to cheat her father....sigh, really, clearly exhibiting that mental instability runs in the family. So I am on their poop list because I told her
their family place, where she doesn't live, but used to, and which has been abandoned for over a year,
is the community eyesore and needs to be cleaned up. Well she took offense to that and wrote me off
as a **** Yankee. I probably did more nice things for her father in the last five hears than he has had done all his life, and she bites the hand that literally fed him.
what a bunch of ingrates. So....no more rental land.

Sorry about your encounter with the neighbor's daughter. Your exploits with him have been a source of both amusement and sadness. Don't let her get you down, Drew. You did good by him ... much more so than I think most of us would have done.
