Good morning, the low is 60 and going to a high of 64°F. Wind S 9 mph. Periods of rain. Raining now.

There is not enough room inside the shelter for two ladders, (we are both over 6' tall but not tall enough to unbolt the roof of the Kioti), so the light install goes on the 'back burner' for a few days.

David are you running your tractor at PTO Rpm?

I guess I will check on my stock and jump back down the youtube rabbit hole.

Thinking re my previous discussion re upbrings… I recall reading about how young Chinese children were removed from their homes, placed in camps for proper education. Appalling seemed a common response. Of course, we wouldn’t do that. We developed a better method. Put that young child in daycare or preschool as soon as possible. Give the working parents some sort of financial/tax benefit for doing so. Of course the parents get to influence and raise the kids the remaining few hours they aren’t sleeping. Oh wait, that has been taken over by the little screens.

made it to Keystone SD and what a morning.

first, both 29 coming North and 90 going west had regular signs that would light up near an exit saying rt 40 closed, get off here.
I figure that's for bad winter storms.
I drove and drove and drove without seeing much.

Well I did see plenty of cows. And I saw more hay than I ever have before.

second and third pic were scenic overlook on route 90 before crossing the Missouri River. Big river even this far up.
Wall Drug was a waste of time, walked out in five minutes. Didn't want their home made donuts; the whole area looks really fake.
Badlands were just below route 90 and didn't have time to take the long scenic route through it.

you are driving along in a perfectly flat area, seeming endless highway, and then out of the haze is this giant rock from one side to the other. A butte or something looked about 300 feet tall and top was very flat. Quite a geologically interesting area.

also got to see a lot of sorghum and wheat grown, plus all that hay, I guess raised for the cattle which were out roaming around these utterly enormous properties. The one surprise was seeing a field planted in sunflowers.

nice little campground on side of a hill but the sites are nice and l was able to level. Funny doesn't look like it in pic because of hillside

one of the problems with long motorhomes in hilly areas is your hitch or some part of the rear bottoms out on dips. Look how close the rear hitch is on this $1-2M Prevost tucked over in the corner.

Yes, parents need to be proper parents. We are letting other people and gadgets raise our kids. The lack of family structure is probably the number 2 reason kids are turning out the way they are. Can't believe TBN doesn't have a soapbox emoji, but i'm off....

Yard all mowed. wasn't too bad, but they calling for some rain to come in tomorrow and wanted to beat it. Saw something orange on other side of creek, so took mower over to investigate. Was mylar balloon. There's talk of some power lines coming in near me. They kind of sprung it on people at the last minute, then claims they can't change.... Wanted to make sure the orange wasn't a survey marker.
Power lines is for Data Center. Data center going in spot of the old aluminum plant, because they had all the utilities they needed there. Now it looks like they don't ,since the war on coal shut down close power plants, now need to import power from PA.

Drew, thanks for the pictures. We were discussing going on out to Mt Rushmore when we go to WI, but then it is almost another 2K miles added to the trip, so nixed that idea. I wanted to hit ND and NE which I have never been in. 2 of 6 states left to visit. But will do that another trip. I have driven the same route you are on, but in the other direction. Was just across the river from NE, but never in it.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 7.2C and it's presently 8.9C [heading to 16C], clear & calm. There was 3.5mm in the gauge @ 0700 and 2.0mm yesterday.

Yesterday's tree maintenance at the Rectory went well. I even managed to drop the tree pretty much where I wanted to with no damage to the fence or the roof. There's still a lot of limbs & such to remove to the tip. Fortunately, due to all of the storm damage last weekend, 'green waste' is free of charge until the 12th.

I was able to catch Penelope (caught her napping) and the annual Vet check is done & dusted.

I'm off to Ross for a unanticipated meeting. Leaving in about 20 minutes.

David, many of the incidents are committed by kids that have some kind of mental issue. These kids don't always respond to the normal parenting approaches Many parents don't recognize that the kid needs help or they ignore it because MY kid can not be mentally ill
We unfortunately experienced all of this and the first thing to do when signs are there is to get help.
We spent 6 figures on treatment and hospitals which most parents would not be able to do since the insurence coverage is lacking for mental issues
The executive benefit package was what saved us from being homeless

Been good day...arm more sore from covid shot than last time,good load of critter food,about 3/4 pickup load of apples and drop off at bear rehab center,fit/fasten the new blower to wood furnace and no blood dripping nor few choice words.

David, it wasn't ONLY Chinese children that were kidnapped from their homes and re-educated in 'Merican ways. Talk to the native Indians both in the U.S. and Canada. Kids 'stolen' from their homes and taught ''christian' ways, forbidden to speak their native language, had to dress in white mans clothes and a lot of other things that are just coming to light now.

Kinda cool tonight. Supposed to be in the upper 40's. Felt good except for the intermittent rain.

Went to my nephews football game. Was a sad showing for them. They started to come back but dang...

It was military appreciation night. And they were showing of vets on their screen.

My brother in law sent in a pic of me, my dad and my daughter.

It was supposed to say me as a Marine, and my dad as Army.

Someone screwed up, they chopped my dad out of pic and put his name on me as Army.

Joked around with him that he looks good at 78 even though I was demoted to Army.

They even through in a spot for my late brother

Except for the ass kicking, was a good night
