Good Evening Drew,

I’m guessing you will also find some very good BBQ in Texas also !

Hope all have a blessed evening ! 🙏
I'm pretty sure everything will be good including the vegan dinner Don and his wife and I will have. Somewhere. As long as he gets me back to the rv by 9pm (it turns into a pumpkin) I'm game for anything.

I'd like ribs, barbecue of the area, German food, fresh Gulf fish and likely a really good t-bone. I think the tbone will come for lunch at Big Texan in Amarillo. Hope I don't fall asleep driving after eating that...the plan will be to have a little and take the rest home.
Don has humorously suggested I carry an AED after eating
some giant steak....:)

I don't know about any war on football, and I do understand the benefits of team sports, having played them. Last year three kids died of head injuries and ten died of heat stroke and other issues from football. Some probably unknown serious health issues that showed up. But football creates more injuries than any other sport. Like boxing, it's the brain injuries that are at real issue. Having said that, bicycling is number two...not like we are going to stop that...

many kids have real issues with self esteem and act out accordingly. I can understand where team sports gives one a good sense of belonging and accomplishment. My concern is how to make this safer and maybe it's as safe as it can possibly be now. Parents and coaches have a lot to consider.

I know. I suffer from some pretty annoying lingering issues from concussions suffered playing football and college/amateur boxing. I am not diagnosed with anything yet, though.
As a football coach I have seen promising developments like the padded covers for helmets.

Boxing has improved safety with headgear, but it’s still boxing. I had over 25 matches and many, many practice bouts in my younger years. Always wore headgear and used 16 ounce gloves.

Missouri has a lot of pretty lakes
Yes, it does. Missouri is a fairly wet state, with lots of lakes and rivers. That's why there is water on their license plates. Many of our favorite kayaking and canoeing trips have been on Missouri waterways. It's a really scenic state, once you get out of St. Louis.

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 6.0C and it's presently 13.7C, overcast with a breeze.

Well, I did repair the flagpole yesterday arvo. It only took a half hour as I had all of the parts/tools ready to hand. It turned out that yesterday was "Flag Day" too! The anniversary of the 'official' Australian flag, first hoisted on 3 Sept. 1901.

I also took the pole saw on a little wander around my driveway to clear some low, but otherwise hard to reach, blackwood branches that were beginning to brush my ute when entering the property.

The pole saw did require a wee bit of maintenance, which was a good thing as It'll be needed on Friday to take care of the tree at the Rectory.

Today is 'into town' day for petrol and groceries. Seeing as the pole saw required a clean-up, I'll do the same to the chainsaw this arvo.

That's about it, take care all.

LOL.

Same boat, different oar.

I have had my fill of driving, especially trying to get into our Nations Capital over my career. It was not uncommon to average six (6) hours a day on the roads. And that was leaving at o'dark thirty and getting back in the nighttime too.

If someone else wants to drive, OK by me.

My last duty station before retiring from Army was Falls Church, Va. To say the commute ruled many peoples lives would be an understatement. My cubicle mate was an LTC, West Point grad computer engineer retiring 1 month before me. He lived in Manassas, Va, one of those Rt 66 commutes. There was no doubt he would next be employed by a deep pocket, beltway defense contractor. We decided to determine the full cost of commuting, not just vehicle and gas. Don’t remember the exact numbers, but we settled on a figure in excess of $20k/year, more depending how we factored in missing family time. This was no back of the napkin exercise as we devoted extended time and thought to the exercise. We also talked about this with others and discovered that while complaining about the commute was common, very few actually quantified other than time. Did Dan use to his advantage? You bet. He got a contractor position contraflow the normal commute AND used our study to bargain a higher starting salary. This was 1992, can’t even imagine such a commute these days.

Coffee is brewing. 45° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 79° with lots of sunshine. Washed and cleaned 16 of the 33 windows on the inside. Also did the drapes. I sure am glad my sister is here to help. Will be helping neighbor install new battery charger in his golf cart today.
Almost hiding in grass.

Good morning, the low is 55 and going to a high of 73°F. Wind SSE 11 mph. Mainly sunny! I can handle that.

It used to cost me $106.oo for a return trip to work in gas alone. Then there is the time factor of a total of 7 hours this is for a round trip, but I only went down in Spring and back in Fall in my 4 wheeler. The rest of the time I was in the big truck and getting paid to do it. You can use $30.oo/hour for a hourly rate. $210.oo X 106.oo = $316.oo/round trip. But you can be guaranteed I made that back in spades before the summer was over.

I might get after the light today, it depends on how Juniors' knees are. I can stand on the platform of the hoe to do the technical stuff.
I have 2 pairs of LED lights. One pair is designed to be mounted horizontally with a spot in the middle and flood on either end. The pair we will be searching for are cubes with 4 LEDs in a 6" square. They are spots only. They are the ones I want to use. I don't hook up implements in the dark and will be using them as backup lights to get into the shelter at night. There is no light in the shelter other than what is on the tractor.

Time will tell what I get done today.

Have a safe day all

good morning all
some of you guys are up early
58 in Lees Summit, chilly enough I put electric heater on for a few minutes in living room.

this is a lovely Jackson Co county campsite with a set of problems that never should have been. Whoever built this place did a terrible job of leveling the sites. You saw how far off mine was. So with all my height
blocks used, I still was in alarm stage on autoleveling.
Well it looks like I"m not the only one, check out this recent review:
Biggest issue is how unlevel the sites are, front to back and side to side. I didnt see one RV that didn't have to level extensively in some way, even the brand new paved sites had an incredible amount of fall in one direction or another.

Headed North on rt 29 following the Missouri River past Kansas City and Omaha, and will wind up in Onawa Iowa this afternoon, just east of the River. 4+ hour drive,I'd leave early but I go right through Kansas City, not sure what that's like in rush hour. Likely will find out.
going to stop for gas in Faucett MO, regular is about $3 everywhere here.
My last tank at 2.80 was a deal.

need to clean windshield when I go out, plus dump the tanks.
My nice clean rv is ready for another day of killing bugs.
onward

Good morning,
47° now highs in the upper 70’s by afternoon. Humidity is staying low, light winds.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for sitting outside and watching the world go by, which is what I did most of the day.

Heading out for groceries shortly and that’s about it, maybe putter around some.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

Drew, proper way to determine tire pressure on a motorhome is have each tire weight weighed. On dual rears. Each pair is weighed. After weighing my Motorhome found that rear tires needed to be set at 90 psi. Front tires had to be dropped to 80 psi. This stopped steering from wandering. Here is a chart for proper tire pressure on Michelin tires. Should be similar chart for your tires.

they wanted ten bucks more for a concrete pad.
Drew, never seen an RV do a "wheelie"-- wow! At $10/night I wonder how many times they have paid for that concrete pad? 😄

Let Rigby out at 3:30 and immediately smelled smoke. This is from the Bear fire in CA, which is close to 2,000 acres now. Weather conditions will be better for a few days so I hope they get it contained. Rough work fighting fires.

Rigby is now "master" of the Teeter-Totter. We place a dog treat at the far side, he walks up it, it pivots, and he's down the other side to get the treat. Then do it in reverse. Fast action means lots of treats so it's his favorite thing now. You can see in the picture he is starting to get his adult fur now.

Everyone have a great day !!!

Drew, never seen an RV do a "wheelie"-- wow!

not being level screws up two things, and both can be expensive.
I have a gas absorbtion fridge that is known not to like angles and the extra
torque on the slideout mechanism is a concern. I have a small slide with only a couch on it, so not much weight and my inspected and repaired
Swintek slide seems to work fine. Swinteks have mostly failed on larger slides but even mine started making unhappy noises. To the dealer it went and they loctited the failure point. Idiotic they would make a motor mount held on with a set screw. of course this is the same industry that seems to like wire nuts...

I think of Popgadget and his planes and why regular maintenance is so critical. Something tells me critical parts are not attached with set screws in an airplane.
