When I see the Mississippi River, which I will for sure,
I will keep Buckeye's quote in mind

the kind of feeling you get when you look up at the arch in St Louis
and understand the emotion of the pathway to the West, to freedom and opportunity.

breakfast done, let's get this ship/land yacht moving.
very glad I'm not in a Conestoga wagon...

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 3:30AM. Foggy early, becoming sunny this afternoon. High 79F. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph.
I may just end up building a platform to drop the Hoe on and cover it up with tarps like I did last winter.
I tried that last winter and the wind tore up the tarp pretty badly. The BH is such an odd shape it was hard for me to adequately secure it. How do you do yours, Bill?
There is exactly one of these in the whole back area. Wonder how far the seeds traveled as it doesn't seem to have anything a bird/animal would eat. This was surrounded by autumn olive and tall grass. Glad I could isolate it out from that mess.

Thistles like that have taken over the lower reaches of the lot up north, Ken. They spread like wildfire, so good you caught this one before it went to seed.

Thanks for sharing your dental misadventure AFTER I had my tooth worked on yesterday, Drew. My pint sized Chinese dentist turned out to have a very gentle touch, and she used a numbing agent without epinephrine so no sweats and heart palpitations, and no pain, either. Just one old filling was replaced; I thought there would be more. My copay was $80, which seems high, so I'll need to get on the dental insurance site and verify it was billed correctly.

Hope your trip starts off on the right foot, Drew. Looking forward to your reports, and your visit!

Yesterday morning an RN renewed a prescription and gave me a referral to an allergist down here. He wanted to do a lot more, but this clinic assigned me to a DO and I want an internist, which I have booked at another practice but wasn't available until October.

Didn't get much more done other than to warranty an Otter Box cover for an iPhone. One of the little hinged covers finally broke off, as they always do. But this one took three years to do it, and the $9.95 for postage is very reasonable. Tempted to upgrade the phone, but I'll wait until the next generation has has some time to settle down.

More unloading of firewood is on today's agenda, got a little concrete project I need to figure out, too. That might be enough to keep me busy for today.

Good Morning
60° 98% RH with a high in the upper 80’s for today, another sunny day without rain. It’s starting to resemble the setting of “Grapes of Wrath” out there with clouds of dust drifting off the fields as the farmers try to work them. We need some rain.
We did get to Costco yesterday, tile crew got the wet bed and drain in the shower, I was impressed with how dry the wet bed mix actually was. The had to chip out some concrete for the drain fixture , I was able to pull out some pictures and show them where the radiant tubing was under the concrete. Fortunately they didn’t have to get that deep.
I ran a compactor over the trenches that I dug last week, I think that all I did was make a lot of dust.
I pressure washed the tractor and got the majority of the dust off of it.
Today will start with breakfast with the professor, then check up on the tile guys and help the painters get started, they are going to prime everything before it’s all trimmed.

Did get to spend a little time at the pond with my grandson and some fishing rods, the fish remained safe from us though.

Zoe likes to herd the alpacas, she thinks that they want to play with her.

I think my picture today is a Heron.
Looks a lot like a Blue Heron that fishes in our pond in CA.

Nice weather - 55F going to 90F. All the counter culture people at "Burning Man" should have a nice week of weather.

Burning Man is not too far from here. We call them the "Burners." It is an annual "pilgrimage" for thousands of people and RV's to go camp in the barren desert. Last year was a muddy soggy mess but this year it should be much better.

Next weekend will be interesting-- after it wraps up. Hundreds of vehicles on the highways, all completely covered in chalky type dirt that sticks like concrete. Many vehicles with just a small opening in the windshield cleaned off just enough so they can see out.

Today I am marking all of the locations where postholes will be dug for a permanent wooden fence in the back. It's a lot of heavy physical labor and I am doing the hard part-- getting my wallet ready to pay others to do the digging!

Everyone have a great day!!!

good morning, 70 going to 88 today sunny conditions

Picking up groceries today

Adjusted the yard hydrant but still leaks as evidenced by sweating of pipes in basement leading down the the hydrant 200 ft away. Picked up a repair kit at HD and will see if that works out

Good Morning,
Ct, 59 to start going to mid 80’s.

Looks a lot like a Blue Heron that fishes in our pond in CA.
Plowhog, totally agree, we have them in Vermont, although a lot of the locals that have ponds aren’t thrilled with their presence ! They spear the fish in the ponds and kill a lot of good fish !

Ron, nice picture of the Blue Heron !

Bill, I’m not particularly fond of dentists either but do occasionally go !

In work this morning, a little more work on the truck getting it cleaned up for the fall season !

Hope all have a Good Tuesday! 🙏
