Buckeye, keep getting better.
Paul, hope you are feeling better
might have to order an rv, not finding what I want locally. Apparently MB isn't adding safety tech they are advertising until the next batch of models,
and there are lots in the pipeline going out to dealers in the old configuration. So no adaptive cruise, no auto braking. At least you get regular cruise control.
Thought I was going to get one on Ford Transit diesel chassis, but Ford's chassis will not permit automatic four corner leveling systems. Mercedes has them as factory option. Have had that before, just push a button and after a whole bunch of jerking around it stops and the rig is level. Marvelous gadget well worth the 2800 bucks.
Plus the dealers have consistently told me the MB chassis rides better. Maybe. I know the Ford handles better, per magazine reviews. One thing that was strange on the Ford was seeing 195 size tires on the front, much smaller tire than what is on MB. Possibly a lighter overall weight and better mpg too.
But I am not manually leveling an rv ever again so the Ford is out. This is what is called a B+ RV. Basically a dolled up max length Sprinter van with a slide.
And they seem to hold up, have been making them a while. I wonder if Banks makes an hop up kit for MB, like a push to pass button.
Perhaps I should be looking to AMG...
So far the company I like best is US based Renegade, who also make lux motorhomes with the engine out front, like have your
own Freightliner and rv too, and its parent owns E-1 firetrucks, other truck companies also. Seems to be a good engineering background
for rv's, an approach that is not super lightweight and cost cutting. But they also are a little less expensive than Canadians, with nicer trim on the interior.
Otherwise most of these similar rv's use the same components inside. Leisure Travel and Pleasure Way were the other brands.
Am trying to buy a nice small Buick this time instead of a much larger Chevrolet. Actually Renegade might consider itself above a Buick...who cares if
their price is competitive, which after 15 to 20 percent discounts, are. It's too bad Mitsubishi and Hyundai didn't get into this market, they make similar trucks.
time to get a move on.
