D's trip so far sounds very ambitious

Tokyo, Sapporo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hanoi, Halong Bay, Vientiane, Hoi AN

Japan could be interesting, I enjoyed my time there back in the 70's.
I have absolutely no desire to see or go to Viet Nam again.

For Microwave popcorn, I just buy bags of kernals.
Put a tablesppon or so in a paper lunch bag with a little salt. fold over top of bag.
2 minutes (YMMV) and popcorn is ready
Can add other stuff as needed.

Tokyo - Robot restaurant- love the Shinjuku area at night.
Akihabara for Electronics.
Asakusa for old Tokyo temples and feel.
Kyoto - the rice temple and the giant bamboo forrest, great older buildings, very touristy. Bullet train from Tokyo big station, the Tokyo station also has a big Ramen hall- If only US stations had so much good food.

Sushiro Sushi - fun watching sushi go by on a lower conveyor belt, special orders on an upper belt that goes really fast!

Fukuoka Budha - it's a bit of a train ride, past Yokohama, but is old country side Japan.

The game rooms , usually second or third floor, marked out by big signs with the Game developers names. Games you will not see outside of Japan.

need to work on fonts and few other things but got my favorites moved over
it feels ok, very lightweight, have to be careful with it
same screen size as last one, just a smaller and much thinner case.

wasted half an hour on phone trying to get through to a human being in Verizon customer service.
and finally failed after going through the entire ordeal twice, all the security emails back and forth, and then they disconnected me. I guess I'll write them a letter instead. What horrible customer service, first time they dumped me into a can't get out of loop for some emergency medical dialer.
I want them to turn off their answering machine so mine will work.

now that I know this laptop works ok, and the screen is visibly clearer btw, I can back up the old laptop and then start deleting.

i saw a video the other day;
fry up 3-4 slices of bacon, pour your popcorn into the frying pan with the bacon grease and enjoy.

LOL. My mom and dad used to let bacon grease harden, then put it on fresh rye and add a sprinkle of salt.

Both lived into their 80's. I consider that a success with their youth hardships and diets in later years.

My parents always had a can or jar of Lard or grease collected from fried pork. Used it to cook almost everything we ate. My mother lived into her mid 90’s. Dad until mid 80’s. He liked to smoke and drink.
