Just a thought before you have a couple of 100# cylinders setup. They are approximately 20 gallons when filled and about 160 pounds or so filled. A 120 gallon tank is one of the fat 4 foot tall ones that you see around, they actually hold about 96 gallons of propane. So less truck visits and usually a bit less per gallon and also a much more stable tank when sitting on the ground or a couple of cement paver blocks.finally back home from errands
geez, forecast is now 5 to 7 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow
hopefully less
I'm going to put a full propane bottle on the heater this afternoon to make sure it doesn't run out tonight.
working with local propane company to bring two hundred pound tanks and hook them up for me.
...taking a break from the Milk House and got to thinking about my water heater install.
I have 12 foot high ceilings and floor space is limited. I could build a platform to elevate the water heater at least to six feet. This would free up floor space in the corner, which I could use as a closet.
Has anyone suspended their water heater? I am estimating 300 pounds, it is a 30 gallon.
A quick Look at 30 gallon water heaters they weigh 100 lbs. Do you have a way to get that much weight that high up on a shelf....taking a break from the Milk House and got to thinking about my water heater install.

I only have to keep a lot of heat in there for several more weeks, then weather will warm up.Drew will that last a week?
Another option may be your motorhomes propane tank. What size is that? A hose from the motorhome to the heater?I only have to keep a lot of heat in there for several more weeks, then weather will warm up.
sure it will get cold at nights but currently heading into cold week with cold weather dropping down hitting a big
rainstorm heading North. which is forecast at 5-7 inches tonight and tomorrow. Currently 48 out now, so first rain tonight,
snow tomorrow.
burner has 6, 12 and 18k settings.
I have been running on the six and it's kept it warm enough so far.
Since the heater is directional I can aim it at the plants so I'm arranging them in "theatre seating"
in front of the heater.
does anyone know what a 6k burner burns an hour?
of course I had to look that up
there are 91,500 btu in a gallon of propane
divide by 6000 is 15.25
that means one gallon of propane will last 15 hours
at 12k setting which I will likely have to go to in another day or two
one gallon of propane would last 7.6 hours.
7 gallons in each 30 pounder.
geez, propane dealer called back declined due to type of heater and they only did permanent installs, no flex pipe like
the folks in NC were very happy to use. Oh well. I'll have them back on the next one.
My next consideration is getting my young friend with a pickup truck to help me buy a 100 pound tank, get it filled and carried over
next to greenhouse where I will treat it like a giant barbecue tank. Need to figure out what keeps them upright. May have to get some of that flex pipe.
sounds like I need a pro. Popgadget? Will you keep me from blowing up and landing in NJ?...
Lou, if I see a stubby big one, will investigate, only one I saw online was 1200 bucks. I think only the generic 20/30/40/100 pound tanks are value priced. The 100 pounder is about 185 at Ace Hardware. always confusing mixing gallons with pounds, they should have stuck with gallons from the beginning.
I bet it's more sensible in Europe. Helo, do they sell propane by the liter only? Do you call your barbecue size grill a 20 pounder?
because a 100 pounder is only 23 gallons.
that's all the math I want to do. Sun is over the yard arm. Time to fuss in the kitchen.
Innovative idea in wood!Working on a different project today. Trying to make a crankshaft type cup. Here is the first one. Not good but ok!
I still have a hard time comprehending 92° in February..... just strange.....we just had snow!Good (Shrove Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 13.8C and it's presently 33.3C!!! (92F) with higher temps expected mid-arvo. It's clear and fairly calm. Cold front expected tomorrow.
Not much going on for today. Temperatures like this do happen here 3-4 times a year and February is the warmest month.
I might venture out later on and pick up some bacon & pikelets (small pancakes) for tea tonight... or not.
That's about it, take care all.

No farms no foodAnother area of protest particularly in Denmark is that the gov has established aggressive goals for carbon emissions and pesticides that will impact the ag business. Farmers are saying it will force them out of business and result in imports from countries not subject to similar laws

Now, what would be the ticket? --- travel to Australia in December, return to the US is April? Might be a plan......
