Sodomo's comment about the Rodeo in HI reminded me about the George Paul Memorial Bull Riding Event they have every year in Del Rio, Tx. If you enjoy this type of entertainment even a little bit you should consider attending one of these. Referred to locally as Super Bull this event draws bull riders from all over the country. Often they fly in to San Antonio and are escorted out to Del Rio by local law enforcement handing them off one county to another.

This year's 46th Annual George Paul Memorial Xtreme Bullriding will be Friday April 26 & Saturday April 27, 2024 at 8:00 PM each night.

Many people in Del Rio have kept their tickets in the family since the beginning of the event in 1976.

"Considered the strongest man ever to ride bulls in professional rodeo, George Paul once made qualified rides on 79 bulls in a row. In 1968 he won the world bull riding championship. Born March 5, 1947, in Del Rio, Texas, and the heir to a million-acre ranch, he did not have to ride to make a living. He just loved getting on bulls and from the outset was determined to be a world champion. In his first year of professional competition, Paul finished second in the National Finals Rodeo bull riding aggregate; finished 13th in the world all-around standings and 17th in the bareback riding standings; and won money in bull riding at 30 rodeos. A pilot who owned his own airplane, Paul was killed while flying between rodeos in Colorado and Wyoming on July 30, 1970, cutting short what surely would have been a brilliant career."

Good Afternoon Guys ,
TBS, really interesting story on George Paul !

L4N, glad that tree didn’t crush something!! Your luck is on the right side of the fence ! 😉

LS, sounds like you dodged the bullet Ted ! Sometimes I dodge the bullet and sometimes not ! The thing that keeps me thinking safe is the scorn from the wife if I get hurt ! 😂

Have a good afternoon!

Once every 600 years we get a total eclipse. Our next one is April 8th 2024 less than two months. We should be in darkness for 3 minutes. Relatives outside the darkness path are already inviting themselves over. Time to practice the moon pie recipe.

.35" of rain today. Bought nothing at estate sale (not 1/2 price and no fertilizer left).
Wife's pickle ball class has been rained out.

2 bit score, yes no surprises is a good thing.

success
and it went easily, put out enough heat on low I turned it off.
will run on electric heater until dinner, then put on the propane.
this time I sat in there (with door open) while it ran for 15 minutes, tried all three settings,
worked fine. will see how long a 30 pounder will last in there.

while I was at TSC a guy came in with a wheeled 40 pounder, just like I have for my gen.
I asked him what he used it for and he said his gas hot water heater, has to fill it twice a year.
that seemed like surprisingly little consumption

Don, very nice additions to the home shelf.

Buckeye, wife and I visited HI for our 25th anniversary in 1988. Great place to visit middle of February. Your pictures bring back some great memories.
My retirement celebration, wife said it wasn’t for our 37th anniversary. I was trying to get credit for both 😂
LS, I will need a breaker after this.
Check out of north shore in a few minutes, slow drive around island, check in at airport hotel later, and early morning flight out tomorrow. Won’t get to Baltimore until 1am Tuesday.
Did make diamond head yesterday afternoon

So glad we stayed on north shore and not in the Honolulu jungle.

57F and cloudy with a slight chance of a shower @ 15:00, which is the high predicted for the day. Sun peeking through occasionally.

Temps headed down overnight, with more normal temps on tap for the rest of the Ten Day.

Delivery guy arrived yesterday around 13:00 with the new refrigerator. Had a motorized appliance dolly that climbs/descends steps that made things pretty easy.

He had removed the factory packaging when he loaded at the store ... which I would have preferred he not do. Didn't really think about that when I set up the delivery, otherwise I would have said something. Totally understand it though ... would have potentially left him with all the packaging materials to haul around on his truck and then dispose of if the customer wouldn't do it.

The factory packaging on this unit was styro angles on the corners and factory shrink-wrap over the whole thing - no cardboard boxing.

Was another $50 for him to move it inside into the kitchen ... no biggie as the estimated cost was $30 less than the delivery from one of the other local Menards, and the actual cost ended up being another $15 less than that.

Delivery was (thankfully) largely uneventful.

Spent several hours after he left removing all the stickers, tape, and clear protective film - which was extensive - and installing the handles on the exterior. Looks like they have the packaging down to a science.

Happy to report that the exterior appears to be in pristine condition - no dents or scratches anywhere that I could see ... (y)

Woman and I took a break in the middle of that to haul the short stepladder out of the garage and around back to clean the exterior of the window over the kitchen sink which had gotten dirty on account of the suet feeder that hangs right outside of it. A very noticeable improvement ... but we left the suet feeder on the ground, forgetting to hang it back up. Will have to grab that today.

Once that was done, I got back to work on the dishwasher install. Installed a couple of pieces of 3/4 plywood to shim it on the left side, then got it tucked back in the cavity, plumb and leveled, and cabinet screws run through the side mounting clips to secure it.

After that I connected the water supply and drain lines, and plugged the power cord into the outlet.

Ran it through on a rinse only cycle to check for leaks, there were none ... (y)

Very impressed with how quiet it was - much quieter than the one it replaced. Could hardy tell it was running.

Still have to install the insulation/toe-kick at the bottom.

Woman checked it out this morning ... and then invited me to come load it up and run the 1st load ...

So I'll probably do that here in a little bit, then get back to cleaning up some of the mess in the kitchen.

Maybe see if I can tell what's going on with the cabinet over the old refrigerator ... to see what's keeping it from coming down. It's just about an inch too low to accommodate the new refrigerator ... :(

Then on to cleaning the inside of the new 'frig before it gets put into service.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday ... (y)
