42 going to 63.

LS, prayers for your BIL.

Mostly, diesel for tractor and zero turn. Tractor got a good workout yesterday, helping me cut a load of firewood and bring to the splitter. Hearing still pretty good...some crickets.

After cutting firewood, roasted 3 batches of coffee, so it was dark before I could bring the birdfeeders in, and "Little Bear" the raccoon was already out in the yard planning his attack...didn't see Running Bear. (named after bears because they are so big and fat from birdseed).

My cold is starting to break. Another day of relaxing and resting today.
Sounds good Ron. Some improvement must be welcome. Nice deer pix!

27F headed to a sunny 40F in Beautiful Northern Nevada.

I did not make it to CA yesterday. Going today instead. Need to see how many trees got blown down in recent wind storm. Travel will be easy.

Last week, doc warned about side effects from having anesthesia during surgery. He was right- 95% of the time all is good. 5% of the time it feels like someone stuck a knife in my shoulder. Fortunately that sensation only lasts for 20 mins or so, but hoooooo weeeeee ..... while it happens! It should lessen and go away with time-- the sooner the better.

Prayers for all facing medical challenges .... mine are minor compared to some.

Have a good day everyone!!

good morning all
next two days will be relatively warm, getting into low 50's.
then the cold returns next week. I see 23's in forecast, need to throw a cover on two
plants trying to bloom in garden near front door. Hard to see them get frozen, so I'll give them
a coat to wear overnight.

off to hospital to have lunch with friend with two new knees. I think he is doing ok, having problem with appetite,
no desire to eat.

when i get home will put the flowers back out in the sun for a few hours. I bought a couple more baking sheets to carry two flats at once.
there is no rear door on this house, so a bit of a walk to back yard, up and down steps carrying plants. Carefully, watch those feet...

Ted, blessings to your family as you all get through this.

hope you all have a good Friday.

Morning all, 37 going to 58 and cloudy.
Not much outside time lately.
quite boring here doing work, weekend should improve things.

Son has a valentine cabaret at the high school Saturday night after his band plays in North Philly.

Son has rides to both venues, so we will just drop him off and we will show up to see band play later, and probably have to pick him up from school. So we will try to do stuff in between all this.

Ron - glad to hear your feeling better.

Looks like your having fun BEF

Back to the day job,

Be well

Good Morning
37° with a high in the middle 50’s for today under partly cloudy skies. Another dry day.
Yesterday’s breakfast was good, my wife joined us and added her two cents to the discussion at hand. After breakfast I made some progress in the shop.
In the process of cleaning up, I came across an old aircraft intercom that I decided to turn into a head set tester. That involved a batch of soldering on small, recycled connectors. Pretty tedious, but almost done.
Oldest son was coming back from a business trip, his wife asked if I would pick him up at the international airport. I figured it would be a fun mission in the little plane. Besides it was a 15 minute flight vs over an hour drive, and I didn’t have to park in a remote lot. That worked out well, got home in time to get the trash out, eat dinner and go play music.
The music was fun mostly classic rock, Kinks, Stones, Petty, Pure Prairie League, Dead, etc.

Ken, I had to look up valentine's cabaret. Never heard of it. Sounds like date night to the max.

Popgadget, when you line up at the airport, do they always let the "heavies" go first? Or do they have a smaller runway for you?

42 going to 61 today wow nice warming trend

The stomach issues starting to ease up after meds and diet restrictions. Can't really complain much at my age and compared to many of you pretty small potato.

Made a couple of runs to town yesterday. Need to consolidate driving more to save diesel but wife so enjoys the driving trips so it is all good

Got some pictures from the Riga trip that I can show

I am sitting here with the smell of burning metal and plastic stuck in my nostrils
haven't had that since I was a fireman
almost lost the greenhouse
propane heater ran fine outside for a little bit, then fine inside, I put it on lower setting
and left, after checking ceiling with hand and temp gun. All was fine
came back outside a few minutes later, was filling up an empty seedling tray with starter soil, makes a mess so better
to do it over the lawn. Was almost done, and what's that nasty electrical burning plastic smell?
oh no
I race back to the greenhouse and it was just fine.
But I hard a loud tapping sound I knew wasn't right
opening the plastic zipper I saw the heater was on fire, or at least all the
plastic on back of unit was black and smoking, probably seconds from igniting.
lovely
quick turned off the gas at the bottle and a few seconds later it died down.
And then I got out of there but not before getting a lung full of that crappy air in there.
major carcinogens, why you wear airpacs as a fireman. Well, I didn't linger to get the plants out.
I'll go back out in a bit.

worse, I had just put three trays of seeds out there since it had gotten warm.
what a disappointment. I guess from now on I run it outdoors in middle of driveway for half an hour
before it goes inside.

spent 20 minutes online with Amazon customer service and had to strongly suggest they contact the cpsc and their own
safety committee. They didn't want it back, that's worrisome.
now going to get a small cabinet style heater, with heater closer to ground anyway.
I was using a 30 pounder and heat was up higher than I wanted anyway so best to use something that sits on the ground.
having this thing catch on fire on top of a 30 pounder sure got my attention.

now that I'm actually peering at the picture too, looks like their factory label of some sort tried to ignite.
I bet the rest of the thing is fine. Just scrape all that junk off it, wire brush it and try it again. But not sitting that close to a propane
bottle this time

We are at 64f and cloudy going up to 74f today. Dreary looking outside. I am going to a lunch meeting today with discussion on a development in a class action we did some support work on. Should be very interesting and I know the food will be good.

Hope everyone has a bright, sunny, safe and productive day!

Drew I have one of these and they work great been using it for years..
thanks, I almost got the double one but bought a Comfort Glow 3 heat level cabinet heater,
little metal one, sits near the ground where it should be anyway.
none of local hardware stores had one, I hate the walk to the box store, so Amazon will get it to me here tomorrow.
Their ability to do that is amazing. Though I know in some places you can get same day.
I usually try to use Amazon Day and try to max the rebate from 5 to 6 percent as much as I can.
can't today, need that heater asap

I have the electric one running, headed out to check the temp in there now, since the sun has come out .
I think I'm fine until the end of the day. 38 tonight, don't think 750 watts will do.
so back in come the plants.
