Good morning!!!!

good morning all
sunshine and 54 today, now we're talking.

Buppies, wish we could take some of your load off your shoulders.

along with our greatest joys comes our greatest sorrows
have to keep balance in life
find something to laugh about every day

nothing planned for today, should spend it outside for awhile,
want to rake up the "water lines" when previous rain flooded the lawn and left edges of debris.

I've been experimenting with the Louisiana chicory coffee, it's really good if you get the amount of coffee dialed in right,
definitely uses less than regular coffee. No taste of wood chips in this stuff.
I do like variety, so this is a new add to the list. I expected it to be high in caffeine but doesn't seem to be

so knowing nothing about chicory, had to look it up:
Chicory root and coffee feature complementary flavors that highlight and intensify each other. "Raw chicory root starts a little bitter, but roasting it brings out a coffee-like nuttiness with slightly bittersweet notes. When combined, the flavors are complementary and distinctive,"
Chicory was once used in parts of Europe as a coffee substitute, given the similar flavor produced when the roots are properly roasted. Chicory root was cheaper and more readily available, but it had the disadvantage of not having caffeine.

good to know it doesn't add caffeine, just flavor.

in the U.S., chicory root has long been used as a coffee substitute in prisons.[63] By the 1840s, the port of New Orleans was the second-largest importer of coffee (after New York).[61] Louisianans began to add chicory root to their coffee when Union naval blockades during the American Civil War cut off the port of New Orleans, thereby creating a long-standing tradition.[61]

@daugen, I am glad to read that you are developing a taste for Chicory Coffee! I like black coffee and this is really the best. Less caffeine is a plus.

I'm enjoying the first cup of the day right now!

Currently 47f and clear.

Granddaughter Day today!

25 seeking 56. Clear and shiny stars out there.

Don, glad your wife had her great aunt for so long. Great way to pass on family history. RIP.

RNG, great way to be a responsible meeting manager...always tried to follow those steps, too. I've seen real estate agents really earn their commission, but have also seen it play out like yours, where their only role is putting a purchase offer in front of us once we did all the work. Nice that the commission monopoly has been upended.

Buppies, hope you can get some nap time somewhere in the day.

"Played" with firewood yesterday and took a breather...congestion from my cold even made that a little bit of a challenge. Kyle hope yours is better.

   / Good morning!!!! #182,367
pretty cool to see a reindeer
which ones will pull Santa?

Buppies, the nice part is maybe a little less caffeine, which is easier on my stomach since I drink a lot of coffee.
and it's a little less expensive, since chicory is cheaper, apparently, than coffee, so price point is good.
but i will always try new stuff, like going to restaurant and trying a new dish.

I told my friends who own a coffee company I wanted a pound of "good coffee" for Christmas, medium roast.
will be curious to see what they give me.

too cold out to get moving early, have to wait for sun to warm things up.
why go out and be cold?...
am very pleased with new work coat. Exceptionally warm with a nice durable outside.
As I was wrapping dirty hoses up around my arm yesterday, figured I was breaking it in.
and until I really mess it up, like I did the last one, I can still wear it down town and not look like a derelict.

   / Good morning!!!! #182,368
Good morning, the low is 37 and the high temp to 45°F. Wind WSW 15 mph. 30 % chance of showers.

We lit the wood furnace yesterday. I think most of the flies came upstairs after we shut it down. (60°F in basement before the wood stove was relit). I just got back up from kicking it into gear again.
Pull the hotish coals forward and make a bridge with them, put a piece of bark across the valley made from the two hills of coals and load kindling lengthwise and bigger pieces of wood at 90° to the kindling. One block of firestarter (made with wax and chipboard pressed into a small block 1" square and 3/8" thick stood on its' edge under the bark, one match and away we go.

The guy that drove the truck that killed 16 people and injured another 13 in Saskatchewan in the 2018 truck/bus accident, spent the past 5 years in jail. He is fighting extradition back to his native India. He has a wife (India the country) and a kid born here.
He ran a stop sign, said he was worried about the tarp flapping in the breeze on his flatbed train. Didn't see the sign, even though it is about 4' in diameter, with a flashing red light on top.
We don't have a death penalty up here anymore. But in my honest opinion he should have been hung for that act. 8 years in the can is hardly a penalty for 16 lives and 13 injured. The trauma he caused all those people PLUS the team they were going to play against and he gets a lousy 8 years? He blamed it all on the two days of training on B trains. He held a license to pull them (same license I hold), therefore he knew what would happen if the unforeseen happened, which it did. His gross weight (truck+trailers+load was 138,000 lbs.) Legal. Shippers up here can be held just as responsible as the truck driver if they overload us and we get caught, especially in an accident.

I had figured that the new rim for the Kioti would cost me about a grand, pleasant surprise at under 500$. I will get that in spring and get the tire service in North Bay to come down and do the swap. I will take the chains off to make it easier to do.

Todays' job is to work on the lights. Might even get to putting rear facing lights on too.

Have a safe day all

Morning all, 26 going to 53 , sun trying to get up over the trees.
Choir recital went well last night.
Replaced one of the casters on son's amp, all good to go now.

Our condolences Don, 106 is a pretty good run though

Rust in the water could be iron sediment in the water. My last house had iron in the water and always looked rusty when the town did a pump out/purge for a while.

One of my former bosses comments on a set of meetings was that I was not producing notes. I told her there had to be content for that to happen and those meetings got shut down.

I run meetings that sometimes have 20-30 people in them, some have english as a second or third language like in South America or EMEA, so discipline is required and I have "muted" people when needed. I used to do town halls with a few hundred people in the meeting, cameras and lighting, keeping it light and to the point to keep people from falling asleep is a lot of work.

Be well,

Son top row , center left, behind the kid with the obnoxious hair.

Good morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

18.1F going close to 60, sunny day.

Harry is scheduled for a play day at the doggie daycare today, some administrative running around and a bit of grocery shopping are in order, then some generauttering around the house for the rest of the day.

Went to PAC for our last show of the season — Christmas on Ice! Well, actually on a plastic sheet, but it was still an impressive show.

time to figure out breakfast and get more coffee!

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Kyle, same trade same feelings, same amount of time in the trade ! What am I even doing in these rediculous meetings ! 😒

Good Morning Guys,
Ct, 28 to start going to 52 ! Sunny skies, should be a good day to spend outside !

Buppies, praying you get some much needed sleep ! 🙏

Hope all have a blessed day ! 🙏

Good morning, yikes I’m only 90+ pages behind, been a couple of weeks since I posted here.

25° now highs in the upper 40’s and sunny today.
Not a lot going on besides getting somewhat ready for winter and Christmas. I’ve always enjoyed the holidays but this year just seems different. Mrs says I’m just old and cranky, she’s probably right.

Put the snow plow on the BX yesterday and after exercising the controls noticed oil on floor, sure enough leaking through one of the up/down cylinder hoses. Ordered 2 replacements and will pickup this morning. Can’t really complain, bought tractor and plow in Feb of ‘06 so just about 18 years.

Need to take the Mrs to dinner tonight for her birthday, she already ordered her “present” a new iPhone. We don’t really exchange presents anymore, just being together seems enough!

Not sure i’ll be able to get caught up on posts, maybe over the weekend.

Enjoy your day everyone
Prayers for all in need

Good morning! 56˚F heading to the mid 60s, cloudy with a chance of rain. Thanks for the condolences guys. We were sure to make all her 100s birthdays except the covid year. The month before they shut dow the cruise ships and her assisted living home, we had just finished a cruise and stopped at her assisted living for a visit on the way home and of course we made her 105th and 106th birthdays. But at 106 the body just wears out.

Lost a day of PT yesterday but make-up day is today.

RNG when you sell The Hill will you be seeking a flat rate realtor or a For Sell by owner?

Good morning! Low of 30°, going up to 42°, sunny and breezy. Ended up with just 9"..... a few places just north of us got 17", and the peaks got over 24".

I'll plow the driveway this morning. The neighbor plowed the road yesterday afternoon, so I'll see if that needs "touch-up".
I always had the philosophy of 'if you're going to do something, do it right'..... something that they don't follow. They just get to 'maybe that's good enough', and quit. ---- quick rant, not going to take it further-----

Buppies, hope you can get a good rest. Prayers sent your way.

Don, condolences on your loss.

Drew, sounds like you'll have a beautiful day breaking in your new coat. I always dread getting the first stain on new clothes.......

Fritz, neat pic of your daughter with the reindeer. Sure was bright on the snowpack! 🦌🦌🦌🦌

Wng, hope you get over the congestion soon!

Everyone have a great start to the weekend!

NHBX, 18 years good run on hose, better you replace it before it
lets loose. This is when you start looking around to see what else is aging.
Fan belt? radiator hoses? Most stuff that doesn't flex lasts pretty long

I had a hose on a 2 year old diesel tank pump start cracking from being in the sun.
kept a tarp over it after that. And got a US made hose.

Good Morning.
Today started out at 30°, it’s already up to 47. Nice sunny day.

Last few days have been a blur, selling the last plane belonging to my friends estate took on a life of its own with complications of various causes. Fortunately, I had motivated buyers that really wanted it, and we were able come up with solutions to all the issues. I took it to Wilmington,DE yesterday because it’s a favorable tax state for them to take delivery, after the escrowed funds were released, the departed for FL. At any rate, that is a load off my shoulders and his widow’s as well.
Here it is waiting to depart for Pompano Beach.
IMG_3344.jpg

I got home from Wilmington in time to get the smoker fired up and get some baby backs and pork belly loaded.

IMG_3347.jpg

The strips of pork belly were awesome. I’m gonna through a couple on the grill for lunch today.

This morning was off to grandson’s Christmas show at his nursery school.

The rest of today will be spent in coast mode, taking it easy, doing what ever I feel like.

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 7:45AM. Some sun this morning with increasing clouds this afternoon. High 64F. Winds light and variable.
Weather guessers are forecasting a series of storms starting Sunday afternoon that could bring a couple inches of rain. This would be the first real rain we've seen since summer, and we really need it.

It was an early start yesterday morning to be at the RAM dealer's for a 7:50 appointment. They're an hour south of here, and I'm using them because the local dealer won't work on the ProMaster vans. I had the little Yamaha enduro bike in the back, and for the first time I walked it up the loading ramp under its own power. Went right in with no issues, something of a relief. Not sure I have the courage to try that with a larger bike, though. Went to leave and couldn't find the key to the van. Looked all over the house in the usual places. Thought it might be in the courier bag but a quick search didn't turn anything up, but to be sure I put the bag in the van and the keyless ignition started right up. Looked more closely in better light and there it was. How women every find anything in their purses is one of the great wonders of the modern world. I can barely keep track of a wallet!

No worries on the trip down, and sections of new 4 lane pavement on CA70 are now open. Huge improvement. Once in Marysville and Yuba City, though, the bank signs were showing 37F. Gulp! My electrically heated jacket is down in Orcutt, and the bike's alternator isn't powerful enough for electrically heated grips, so it was gonna be a chilly ride home. Briefed the service writer on the issues, then he hands the paperwork over for a signature and it has a hundred dollar charge on it. What? No free maintenance for 36K miles? The Toyota came with it, but not the RAM. So I said thanks anyway, I can change my own oil and rotate my own tires for a Benjamin. Just fix the problems, OK?

Got into my leathers and zipped everything up nice and tight, then headed off to find a Mexican restaurant for some breakfast and to kill some time while the weather warmed up a bit. Found a little hole in the wall with a good sized line of cars waiting for takeout, and got a spot right in front where I could keep an eye on the bike. The pollo asado burrito was excellent, with just the right amount of heat and beans and rice to boot. And the brief ride to get there wasn't that bad, so instead of hanging out for an hour I decided to head home, promising myself I'd stop midway to thaw out if necessary. My fingers and toes got a little frosty; I was really missing those big air cooled cylinders over my feet from the BMWs I usually ride.

I was hoping for a phone call on the van later in the afternoon, and it finally came at about 5PM. They hadn't fixed anything, but did apply a software update. He mumbled something about being half way through replacing some kind of sensor or computer module buried deep in the dash somewhere, and maybe having to order another part. I thanked him for the update, then decided to check the weather forecast. That's when I saw the rainy week in the offing, so I called back and asked if I could pick the van up the next day to avoid getting wet. He said they'd have done all they can by then, so I'll ride the little bike back down there this afternoon and pick it up. And once they have the new parts, I'll see if I can wait on the repair instead of having to use the motorcycle shuttle. Or maybe bring the touring bike with the big fairing back with me when I get back up here after New Years.

TGIF gang!

60°F and .8 inches rain. A bit on nippy side for us. Another rainy day forecast.

Likely tend toward energy conservation today given the wx forecast. This wx brings out the laziness in me.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
