Franklin is a pretty good location, just far enough away from places like Asheville and Atlanta to not really be overly contaminated with stupidity yet not ridiculously far from all sorts of interesting places—- I tell people that “everything is equally inconvenient”.

Good Morning
47 when I woke up, it already 53 on the way to 70 under a cloudless sky.

Yesterday was about the same weather, started with breakfast with the professor, wife and daughter joined us. After that it was clean up outside, trim beds, open up the blind corner in the lane a bit so you can see what’s coming the other way before impact. All in preparation for my wife’s farm open house this weekend. Got the signs up down at the road.
Got the ceiling back together and painted in the dining room.

Sounds and feels like a squadron of Chinooks!

I love Chinooks. Did a lot of biology fieldwork at Yakima Training Center in the south central portion Washington.
Very deep canyons formed in basalt plains. Would be out measuring bushes and hear the blades then a Chinook would rise (seemingly) up out of the earth. Like a whale slowly surfacing.

Good morning all, the temperature was right around freezing this morning in North Bay, ON. Got up at midnight and started the truck. Today was a non-eventful day, I am at home for a couple of days off. There is a 1/2 gallon of Kaluaha waiting for me to get done cutting the grass.
Got into an accident on Sept 2. The other guy was charged with careless driving (he admitted to the cop that he fell asleep, that is an automatic careless driving charge). Did about $50,000.oo damage to the trailers, no damage to the tanks (was loaded), wrote his suv off and only got a bump on his head. He refused treatment. I cannot post the pictures as they have the company logo in them. Physically I am fine, but a little gun shy now.
I'll get drunk tonight and that will be the end of that.

another successful Costco run. crowd wasn't too bad. still no frosted mini wheat cereal. Also got costco brand batteries to see how they do, few bucks less and a few more in the pack.

Good morning!!!! 66° at 8:15 AM.Cloudy skies this morning will become partly cloudy this afternoon. High near 70F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Got an email from AT&T yesterday alerting me to power shut off’s over the weekend. The usual deal with low humidity and Highwinds. Glad I won’t be there for it.

Got the ceiling in the living room mostly washed and decided it needed more work than I was capable of. Had a drywall guy in for a quote yesterday afternoon and have two more coming today. Ceiling and wall need smoothing and patching and texture. Not gonna like the size of that bill.

Got a couple more security cams mounted. Not very impressed with night IR capabilities, so trying to figure out how to put floodlights on motion sensors. Have a replacement camera on the way as one showed up dead in the last order. They are supposed to be guaranteed for life and I wonder who’s life?

It turns out the new house is in the flight path of the local airport. I knew that, but didn’t realize it was a popular hub for military aircraft to practice touch & goes and such. Very noisy during the day, but so far has stayed quiet at night when it matters, yeah, I know, it’s the sound of freedom ha ha. Anyway, a pair of these crossbreed airplanes were hanging around yesterday afternoon. They sound like big helicopters but fly like an airplane.

Tungsten bulbs will work best for nighttime IR video.

easy drive down to washington nc. stopped at old home on the way, took the drone up at my neighbor's house, they were both at work, but coming for dinner tonight, and got some pics of his farm fields and my old house.
Oh my.
they moved the raised gardens to inside the fruit orchard and put a swimming pool in that area. Then they seem to be building some contraption in the orchard. can anyone guess at its purpose, based on poor rez? looks like some of the apple trees are gone

Glad you are Ok, physically and liability-wise.

lots of sugar in a half-gallon of Kahlua — I would be downing one or two MultiMega-B Vitamin capsules every other drink, especially if on a mission to kill the bottle… it will make a huge difference in the morning!!!!

59F mid 40's day break,hard to getting use little after 7pm it's dark.

Been good day....town errands Mrs. thought we didn't have enough kindling stack in basement,3 hours cutting she sure has enough now I have feeling she about ready to light her wood furnace.

No plans for the evening...share bowl ice cream watch some YT.

nice dinner with old next door neighbor, the fireman and his family.
His son is a good friend of mine and I'm Mr. Drew to him.
I let him push the sticks on the drone control; well.........the pitch to
Santa started immediately.
His Dad and I talked farming a while, and this weekend's big rain forecast.

my 92 year old lady friend here, for whom I drive Miss Daisy, cancelled out tomorrow, poor lady got covid. After all this time missing it.
I called her and she sounded terrible but improving I guess with paxlovid or whatever they give.

that gives me most of tomorrow free. Going to ride my e bike everywhere, there is one path here down to the Pamlico River.
Also going to call campground in OBX and ask for early entry, try to beat worst of storm on Friday.

57°F and cloudy this morning, got up to only 78° today. We had a little rain on and off this afternoon. First moisture we've had in awhile. Been a very dry month so far.

Not a whole lot of excitement in my little corner of the world. You guys sure seem busy, though ... as usual.
