72F and cloudy @ 13:30 with a slight chance of a rain shower. That should be the high for the day ... (y)

Took dump cart up yesterday and grabbed some screened compost to use for potting strawberry runners.

When I got back down to the garden I had an audience:

IMG_2950 copy.jpg

IMG_2950 copy2.jpg

Once I sat down and started to work they actually ended up wandering over even closer to where I was. Somewhat tame and pretty curious ... ;)

At some point I noticed the right tire (original) on the dump cart was flat ... :(

So I emptied out a bunch more of the screened compost into pots and set the back right corner up on a 6 or 7 gallon bucket and pulled the tire and wheel.

Woman ran it down to the local tire store and had them put a new tube and tire on it.

Was kinda surprised at how much they bent up the rim in doing so ... 🤬

After that more work on weeding and watering the strawberry plants.

Probably got another 30+ runners pinned and potted. Should be over 100 started now. Probably have at least another 30 I could start ... but Woman is getting impatient ... ;)

Watered all the pots as well.

Strawberries all seem to be doing very well for the most part, along with the beans:

IMG_2951 copy.jpg

Did not get any feeders filled yesterday so that's on the menu for today.

Probably go up and grab another load of screened compost and pot some more runners after that.

Next good chance (>50%) for rain looks to be this coming Tuesday/Wednesday, although there is decent chance (25%) on Sunday afternoon.

Yesterday's intensification of Hurricane Lee was pretty impressive ... hope it stays away from any populated areas ... looks to be pretty nasty. Seems like TS Margot could be a repeat performance.

Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ... (y)

It shoule be spliced into the line at the point that the frame and the bodywork are closest, with the valve handle facing the sharpest edge of any available sheet metal (or where a self-tapping screw is protruding).

you want the installation to look factory, just like the an Automotive speeding engineer would design it, right? 🤣🤣

Correct - engineered for most difficulty to use

I’m going to place in engine compartment.

I haven't heard anyone ask the question of where all the new electricity demand is coming from. Sun belt states like Texas have seen significant population growth, and that will put more demand on the grid. But that also creates more income for the utilities, income that should have been used to create more capacity. Has that not happened, perhaps because of "green" thiinking? As I recall, the green movement has only had a significant say for the past few years, and as Frits pointed out, construction plans should have been in the making for much longer than that. But the bottom line is this: If you want reliable, 100% always on electricity, you've got to make it yourself. And you won't be saving any money in the process.
Interesting twist to the request to save on power in Texas is that they requested wind power generators in South Texas to curtail output because the transmission lines into central Texas were overheating and paid the wind power producers for the lack of sales. They also have a history of paying Bitcoin farms to shut down to save capacity

Ron, we are almost identical
I went on PECO's site and they told me
I consume $5.29 a day on average.

I average 1029kw per month. Average daily use 32.5
complicated bill composed of generation and transmission portions.

I'd be a lot happier paying their bill, which admittedly is about a third of the NC farm,
if they buried the residential lines. I lose power here at least once a month, sometimes once a week.
Always due to trees falling on lines.

I hear some rumbles, might get a little rain but otherwise today was a dud for precip. And hot.
I mowed the lawn this afternoon, felt good to get back inside.

up and out early tomorrow to take car to dealer for oil change and new brake pads.
Fronts need them at 51k, pretty reasonable. Will tell them if rears are more than 50 percent worn, replace them also.
on delivery had a braking shimmy so they put new front rotors on several years ago.
They wanted to replace the plugs since that is part of 60k service. It runs fine, and only has 51k miles.
I don't think so. Next year, another year, will be just fine.
I think they will give me a loaner car so I don't have to wait for it.
I always ask for a P1800 and get a good laugh.
then off to get my monthly haircut on way home.

had stuffed peppers for dinner. Pleasantly stuffed now myself.

Our Mitsubishi mini split installed last year has operated perfectly. Oversized for cooling to give more capacity for heat has worked out really well.

PT lady is single, late 20's, ex Army, very pretty and like the rest of the ladies there, wears skin
tight pants. And oh the curves. Marvelous curves. Eye watering so well toned curves.
Curves I can't look at. She could be my granddaughter.
Good Evening Guys,
m7040, I installed a Fujitsu Mini Split unit in my Ct home 3 years ago. We are very pleased with the performance of the unit ! The head on the first floor is 18K BTU, and we have another head on the second floor in our master bedroom that is 9K BTU. I believe the main unit could support one more head, but this works for just the two of us. We bought it mainly for the AC in the summer but the heat was a bonus in the cooler months !

Drew,
You really have a latent writing talent, I couldnt stop laughing reading this description ! Thank you for providing some late afternoon humor for another old guy !:)

PopG,
Beautiful job on those pork shoulders, I have not run my smoker in some time, Im guessing its time to bring it out this fall and try a pork shoulder !

Grilled some burgers for supper. Been rumbling from storm going up east of us. Didn’t get too hot today, only 91. I sat on porch till after noon, before computer work in afternoon. Did get a couple tiny tasks done.
So far happy with new mesh system in the house.

68°F and .5 inches rain.

Guys lost at H& F again.

23 bags 920 lbs of salt in pool. A pause until I can check the salinity. And stabilize the chemistry. PH a tad high.

The BX fuel filter may hAve been an expensive fix. Seems I apparently cracked the crystal on my Apple Watch. Then I lost control of the diesel getting a good soaking on that hand/ wrist. Watch not working. Had hoped to get another year before replacing, only 4 years old.
Wonder if there’s another study offering free?

Should get back to mowing after I get the mower deck on.

Guess I forgot to push the button this morning

Yep, break out the puffy coats and gloves!
The puffy clothing will not need to come out till it gets in the 70s.
108˚ today, 103 in the shady backyard now, we are under an excessive heat warning till 7pm, sure hope it gets under 100˚ by 7pm. Hottest day this week. 77 days of 100+

Good day with the probate lawyer wrapping things up and ready for the estate sale. She claims I'm moving at warp speed, I told her the impending knee surgery is my incentive, because I will be shut down for a month recovering.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 5.3C and it's presently 15.7C, clear with a light breeze. There was 3mm of rain in the gauge from a surprise downpour late yesterday morning.

I did, indeed, pick up a 30m length of water hose yesterday and will get it installed today. The 'Mad Agisting Horse Woman' is planning on shifting their horses to the 'Grandfather's' property (we're jokingly calling it "Paddock #7") for a month or so. She's having to feed with square bales as there're no rounds available and hopes that there will be more grass 'picking' over there. My grass is still in dormant Winter mode.

So, depending on when the horses shift, the clean-up of Paddock #5 will occur sometime this coming week.

That's about it, take care all.

I added a Deco X50-outdoor to my mesh system. Placed it on back porch. Gives me full signal out past back barn. Worked good for Drew inside his Motorhome when he visited.
I tested mine today, it works great on the porch, course my starlink worked there also, but I don't think it will carry to my camper. I had no signal outside the barn. Now, I do have ethernet in the barn using a power line extender, so could put a unit out there. Since I have ethernet cables, I did connect mine with cable.

Good evening all. 77ºF for the start, partly cloudy, light breeze. Light wind with some moderate gusts, partly cloudy sky, and high temp was 107ºF. Putter to start day, (no alarm :) ). Bike ride, then took Volagi to bike shop to get shift cable and housing replaced. Went to lunch and book store, then back to shop to pick up bike. Nap when I got home.
Randy(wag) They are proud of those boots! I could be persuaded to take better care of footwear at those prices.
Ron glad shopping and mowing accomplished. hope you learn something from power guy. Interesting pic.

Scott(vt) I am amazed when anyone is out on driving range in the sun and temp 100+. It happens every week. Cooling breaks, neck cooler are the order for the day.

good morning all
up way too early, actually beat Ron
.93 on weather station, more than expected
here comes the lawn again...

77 days of 100+ weather is remarkable Don.
what are you going to do when global warming arrives?...

I had real problems with dehydration in NC i sweat so much for 8 months out of the year.
Maybe living further North has its advantages.

could someone track down Bird?

My sister has this most amazing weather along the coast of the Pacific, summer highs in mid 70's.
David has wonderful weather on top of his Hawaiian mountaintop. Wet, but not too hot.
what is really helpful here is the consistent rain.

Don, I hope all those newly arriving Californians don't drink all your water
does Texas have good well water? or do you just hit oil...;)

   / Good morning!!!! #176,740
I have a bunch more of those poblanos coming in Mostly. They really are a hot weather veggie and
last week's high heat here did the trick.
wish I was closer, would give a bunch to you
something tells me your tummy is a lot stronger than mine, plus I have acid reflux, etc.
hot peppers are a big no no for me.

I'll have to see if Ken or Paul like mild hot peppers.

my landlady is coming over today, and she is getting my four baby eggplants.
The plants have collapsed, they really need to be picked. Mine never grow very large.
And I don't even eat them.
