Protect against life-threatening flooding having possible extensive
impacts across across the remainder of Los Angeles and Ventura
Counties, and possibly in eastern Santa Barbara County. The most
significant flooding is expected over the mountains, foothills,
valleys, and urban areas.

I do believe this applies to RNG...

Drew, the swelling is down and some mobility is back. It is a ligament type of injury that seems to improve and as long as I avoid bending the leg there is no pain. Wife had a knee replacement and she had a lot of pain before that from just supporting weight on the joint. An earlier Xray on the other knee the Dr said he sees calcium in the knee joint. Advised not to do any jumping or sudden loads to extend the life of the joint. So far so good.

It's over us now. Very civilized storm at present. I spent time over the last 2 days preparing for too much rain and the problems associated with that. It would suk if the power goes out. Fingers Crossed.
I'll be taking a ride to the Anza Borrego desert to see a wildflower bloom soon. Pretty close by back roads to me.
Mexico getting pounded.

Russia meanwhile continues to regularly bombard Ukraine. A Russian missile hit a central square
in the northern Ukrainian city of Chernihiv Saturday, killing seven people and injuring more than 100 others.

Every time I read this I think of London during WWII. Never knowing where and when a bomb will land.
The psychological impact of this is hard to imagine, particularly for children.

one of Ukraine's drones crashed through the glass ceiling of a major Russian train station, very much their home turf, and
showered glass down on a lot of folks. Sends quite a message, the other way.

it's quite a moral issue when shooting off a missile almost blindly and not caring if it hits an apartment building, when is that
collateral damage and when is that a war crime? Terrible things are done during wars. That sure hasn't changed.

I wonder if every gen thinks these are strange times.
we can only focus on the good and leave the rest behind
And be thankful most of us live in safe and beautiful settings in a free country.

Frits, are you icing that knee? should you be staying off it?
so many folks I know are getting new knees.
my brother and BIL both got new knees.
And they are doing fine. I guess that's why folks do this...
with arthritis everywhere else, kinda surprised that hasn't been a problem for me. yet.

time to get moving while it's cool out
The work continues for Daughter on documenting Russian war crimes attacking civilian targets and other war crimes. It is amazing what can be found via satellite surveillance to collect evidence and surveillance continue to discover new areas of war crimes. Pretty sad that attacks on the civilian population continue

Be careful scootr and safe
Kind of exciting. 1st ever Hurricane warning issued for CA. I was up at 3:30 this am watching the yard drains. We are good as long as the leaves and debris don't block them. Eucalyptus trees shed a lot of bark, leaves, and flowers or berries. Lot of times avoiding a flooded garage is just a matter of keeping the drains clear. Last year I installed a bigger drain box in front at the garage. This box is big enough to put a big electric 2" trash pump in it if it gets overwhelmed, as it has in the past. Raining in earnest now. The pump and hoses wait

when you click on windstream in Wunderground the hurricane is spinning like a top
in Mexico. I've never seen that online before.
Scootr, take care, it's headed North

We've been watching it. Weather underground is my go to weather information. And I use NWS National Weather Service to map rainfall etc.
Years ago I used to have to log rainfall events for the EPA reports on some bigger construction sites. I got pretty good at sourcing real time information.
Boy we need rain. Our water table is being replenished. Dry creeks will run swift and mud will flow. Especially if it comes too fast as suspected

55 and a pretty ground fog before sunrise. Marching up to 91.

LS, congrats on the GS scores. I hope he keeps it up.

BEF, Canaan Valley/Dolly Sods is high elevation and so nice, but surprised it got below freezing already. Glad you shared this. BTW, now is a good time to see leaves on the trees in NH...they have lots of them until November. :ROFLMAO:

Spent most of the day painting inside, again. But we did receive delivery of a new washing machine and I had to remove the dryer and some storage shelves in order to move it into place. Delivery truck was huge, and broke off some limbs on some trees by the driveway...so had to spend an hour with the pole saw cleaning up. The guy didn't confess (I didn't find it until walking up to get the mail)...jerk. Based on the mess, likely did a number on his truck, too. But, nice washer. I finished the painting on this project, removed all Frog tape, reinstalled light fixtures, showered, ate dinner and crashed.

The rain falls from Hilary can cause severe flash floods in areas not normally seeing that. Can be very dangerous. Saw some of that when living in Mohave. All of the sudden a wall of water coming down from the hills washing out everything in the way. Be careful

Don in answer to your question see no hurricanes on the horizon and if one does will come out of Caribbean Sea area too much dust and strong head winds in Atlantic. The heat should start easing mid September resulting in cool east warm west scenarios. Another TS may hit west coast by end of August. The GFS model panel after major updates still stinks and that meteorologist seems to be following that model. Hope this answers your question

RS, I rarely wear gloves and think I've gotten poison ivy from doing just what you did. Most often I have problems with not enough coming out,
not too much, but of course, if you snag...

Sott(vt) glad you not in MRI when rod was found! Nice pic, is that water on camera lens?
Good Morning Guys,
50's to start going to 80.

Drew, its funny you mention that, I was trimming out back the day before yesterday. I knew there was some PI, and did get trimmer tangled up, but soon as I finished I took a good shower, so no PI on me yet ! The bitter sweet vines are the worst, they attach to everything and make trimming an adventure !!

Phil, beautiful job on those bowls and cup ! Excellent work !

mostly_gas, that camera is on the front porch, and yes there could be some moisture on the lens ! Need to clean it !

All have a blessed and safe day !

Good Morning
71 with a high in the low 80’s and blue sky.
Another great day.

Yesterday, grandson and I ran the tractor with a grapple to move brush and logs from his dads tree work. He took down some gnarly, mostly dead trees.

After that, I continued looking for things damaged by lightning. First hint was when the standby generator didn’t send me a text to tell me it was exercising. Took a look at it, controller screen was blank, and control fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse, it popped again like a flashbulb.
Did some cursory looking and testing, it appears that it’s just the control. I ordered a new one on line for a bit under $500 including shipping. Started a list of all the damaged stuff and the cost of repairs, sent an email to insurance agent to see what my coverage and deductible is, I’ve spent over $2,000 at this point, and that’s not considering my time, I haven’t used any outside contractors (unless you count the fire company).

Today I want to go over the RC club and try out the P51 I converted to electric power and socialize a bit. Wife is already off to Farmers Market, she was at a different one yesterday. So far she is very pleased with the Transit Connect.
I do need to put the 3pt mower on the tractor and mow inside the fenced pastures, it a bit too tight for the 16 foot Progressive, although it’s probably not any faster than the Lazer, even with a 30” wider cut, and I still run the Lazer around the perimeter of each pasture, but it’s more comfortable and has AC and a stereo.

Good morning. Nice day today, and for the next few days.

Neighbor finished painting the walls of the basement, and next step is to put down the rest of the black “DryBarrier“. My helper comes next week and we will put down the rest of the vinyl flooring, almost done, except for the tongue and groove on the ceiling in the main living room, dining room area. And of course some trim.

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!

Morning all, sunny 73 going up to 88.
Did start putting up furring strips to mount sheetrock.
The tapcons come with a drill bit, for some reason, this box had a one size too big bit!
Got out the old bit from the last box, and that worked better. Delays, delays.
Could not work while son's band practicing in garage either. So worked on deck cleanup.

Today basement work on hold to go over to Vineland NJ for sons band.

Made it to the Grange fair yesterday, lots of tractors, farm animals and very, very crowded.
Picked up Sausage and pepper sandwiches on the way out for $12 each.
Met up with some of my wife's coworkers there and said hi.

Phil - your carvings are getting quite sophisticated, really nice work.

Sootr - be careful out there. Waiting a bit and will call dad and uncle in San Diego to see how they are doing.

Sad day yesterday - Old friend texted me her sister passed away
About an hour later got a text from SIL that her sister passed away too. Great women, had a stroke about 8 years ago and then dementia, been in a home for two years. Was sad seeing her go downhill so fast.

Be well,

Good morning! Low of 58°, heading for a high of 88°. Sunny, but windy. No precip from the storm expected.
So close, but no cigar.......

Phil, you do amazing work! Beautiful!

Paul, sorry about the control board. Hope the insurance deductible isn't too high. Must have been quite the strike!

Did get started on the last little area of the drive. There was a bit more dirt that accumulated around the the landscape bed and shed. Dug out 3 bucketfuls, probably get another bucket filled.
Then get the 4x4's cut and in place. Pics to follow later.

Wifey is making dog food today, so I'll get to take multiple breaks from the outside heat, and assume the clean-up committee position. Max is already supervising the process

Hope everyone has a great day!

No. Made it out of one piece.
Phil you really are talented. If you did an online store, I'd sure buy one of those. I love wood...
Send me a pm on which one your interested in. Depending on the item we can talk.
Thanks for all the compliments. It's much appreciated!
