Good Evening Guys,
TxDon, nice job on the trails by all those volunteers !

Just curious, every day I read about your temps well above 100, wondering what temp you try to keep the inside of the house at.
I have been trying to keep the house at 74, but it does take all the moisture out of the air !
Is your high temps also come with a lot of humidity ?
Humidity is a problem further South in Texas. We are North Of I35 the humidity is only in the morning and has been mostly around 30% during the hottest part of the day 1-5 PM.
We keep the AC on 77 during the day and 73-74 at night.

Good morning! 73˚F 75% humidity, heading to 105-107˚, it's going to be a scorcher, the outside furnace will be working overtime today. We have 2 alert warnings today, excessive heat and an air quality alert - high ozone.

67 outside right now, heading to mid 80's. 93% humidity. Nice large fog bank over pastures this AM. Low and thin, but cannot see the animals. Yet.

Trip to city was a success, grabbed what I needed. Took in a sandwich at a corner cafe and watched the rat race move on by at around lunch. Don't miss it at all, don't need it. Fortunate to be where I am at.

My ZTR should show up this AM. The grasses will have to be cut a few times since they are so tall and out of control. Good thing the weekend is near.

Hope all have a great day today. Be safe.

Good morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

60F going to low 80s, sunny day all day.

Low-key day yesterday, lots of porch time. Today will be similar, other than pickup needs it’s regular service (oil change etc) and one of the TPS is not sending. May open up the beehives and do a quick inspection, possibly add another medium box if they need it.

it has been impossible to find 2” poly tubing for a reasonable price (or if it is reasonable, the shipping is not). Home Depot Carries 1-1/4“ tubing, which has about 1/3 the capacity but is still bigger than the 5/8” I used as an experiment last year, and with the IBC totes as settling tanks it should not clog. All I have to do is bury it as best as possible with the terrain and rocky rooty soil…

I have some small slabwood cutoffs that are tapered half-ovals that I will paint into gnomes for Mrs for Christmas. Yesterday I gave them a base coat of white paint, then I can start adding in details over the next couple weeks.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Drew I bought the insurance with mine it was cheap and offers full replacement if you lose it in the river or anywhere actually.
believe it or not I have an aversion to buying insurance on small stuff. Always felt the odds were against you, like Las Vegas...
I think I had to buy it within two days, not sure. Weird side effect of being in insurance most of my life.
Now if I were a LOT more adventurous that I am, yes, I'd buy the insurance.

let's see in a couple months if I have lost it or not. Your advice may be spot on...

65 going to 89. Still relatively low humidity, but the skunk smell % is quite high.

Don, real nice looking trail. Looks like it's well constructed.

Hornet removal guy arrived at the promised time, but without the key tool he needed - bee pole. He said all they had were in use at the time and none nearby. He said he wished they had told him the day before...I agreed. Supervisor coming by this morning to do the job...maybe within the hour.

Did some string trimming, dump run and hike...saw a lot of trees already in autumn yellow and red...due to last couple of weeks of dry...all the creeks in the park were dry. Then spent about 90 minutes pressure washing...the job took longer than I expected, but looks good...says my loving wife. :)

Good morning, 66 going to 87 no rain

Back stacking more wood yesterday in the wood shed. Starting to see the end of this. Shoulder was strained so need to baby it some and go easy on PT to recover.

Mowing a couple of areas today.

64F and cloudy here in Deer Isle. Yesterday we took the boat out of the water. The morning started foggy but cleared up by 11am. The fog blew back in about 10 min. out but cleared up shortly. The ramp in Stonington is decent but there isn't enough parking and the tourists are always trying to park there. I was backing the the boat into the back corner to take the mast down when a lady with jersey plates tried to beat me to the spot. My wife waved her off. Boat is in the front yard waiting for me to take gear off and give her a fresh water rinse. Daughter number 1 and husband flew out Saturday. Weather delays meant they got home at 4 am. I'm just glad the flight wasn't canceled. Daughter number 2 flies out this afternoon. Fingers crossed.

One thing I am looking forward to when we get back to Lancaster is tree ripe peaches from the local farm stand. The fruit and veggies at the grocery store here are just OK.

Hope you are doing well.

Chris

Good Morning Guys,
65 to start going to 79 with some intermittent showers or misting events.

Don, I still like the smell of diesel in the morning ! ;) But that New Holland looks pretty rugged ! At least you dont need to search for a charging station if your working your own property !:)

Called one of our local contractors yesterday, to get four large triaxle loads of 1 1/2" process for the DW. It wont cover the whole DW but will handle the middle and steep section that has taken a beating with all our torrential rains this year ! The material will cost $1500 for the four loads ! Im hoping this material will hold up better that what I haven used in the past ! Time will tell !

I hope everyone has a blessed and safe day !

/ Good morning!!!! #175,416
interesting tractor
surprisingly small battery, 110KW is what full size EV cars have.
95kw usable power = 127 mechanical HP
But only 65 HP at PTO, plenty for small farms.

I bet the lack of noise is wonderful in certain applications
now let's see them eliminate all the zerks on an FEL next...

maybe I'll take a ride down to the River and see if I can get some drone pics. Very wary of not losing the thing.
with my fused neck, pretty hard to "look up" and track it. So....a reminder, yes, first thing, set the return to home height, see if
that works better. I need to get away from all the cable lines. At least I bought the kit with spares, so have lots of extra blades, and three
charged batteries. Now I just need some talent.
Drew - Have you thought of "prop guards" for your drone?
I've about 1/8 acre of clear landing area in my property. Run all the time with prop guards on my mini. Have "tangled" it up many times looking closely at stuff, always came out fine.

Good Morning!!!! 71F @ 4:45AM. Mostly cloudy early, then sunshine for the afternoon. Expect mist and reduced visibility at times. High 74F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Do you monitor the old place?
I get alerts from the camera up at the gate several times a day, as well as once a day check in type emails from various devices on the network. I also keep an eye on the local Facebook group, and Watch Duty alerts help me stay abreast of any nearby wildfires. There's also a security system that would have the cell phone screaming bloody murder if any of the security sensors were triggered. Unless the criminals wiped out the satellite dish, they they'd have their run of the place. Shhhh!

I see a strong parallel between the new driving aids and the advent of the first calculators. Back then, people were worried that kids would no longer be able to do math in their heads. Judging from the behavior of most store clerks these days, I think those concerns were justified. If the same happens with driving, we'll all someday just be passengers, and human guided vehicles will be an anachronism on our roads.

The Mini drone here is impossible to see once it gets up more than a hundred or so feet, Drew. Had a few heart stopping moments at first when I got disoriented using the camera to see my way back to the launch site. At that point I ran some drills to get familiar with the return to home routine and that somewhat relieved my anxiety. I still worry about losing such an expensive instrument, especially since I've let the replacement insurance lapse. Biggest threat is losing the drone to the wind, but the controller does a pretty good job of warning you when the winds get too strong. The Ian of London YouTube videos cover fly aways pretty well.

Sounds like you might be leaning toward retirement, at least from commercial aviation, Paul. Would that be so bad? Too much regulation has ruined many a career.

Good luck with those hornets, Billy. Nobody needs that kind of torment.

Most of yesterday was spent chasing paperwork to get the van registered in Kalifornia. First stop was a SMOG inspection, since Kalifornia doesn't trust a 50 state vehicle to not pollute its golden air. Then it was off to a scale for a weight verification, but it wasn't a certified scale. There was one a few miles away, but it wasn't free like the first one was. I guess you get what you pay for. Finally I found the DMV and the line was out the door and wrapped around the building. I decided to go first thing the next day and maybe beat the rush. Headed down the road to Harbor Freight to get another electric fly swatter for the new place; paid more for the batteries than the swatter. Then I remembered I could "get in line" at the DMV using their website, so did in the HF parking lot. By the time I got back to DMV, they were calling my number so I walked right up to the window, no waiting. Got a run around about registering, as the Oregon dealer had yet to send DMV the title paperwork. So I had to settle for a paper VIN verification, which I'll mail along with the weight check to the dealer, who will then presumably mail back to the DMV with the title. Mean time I guess I keep driving with the dealer's advertising where the license plate should be.

Stopped in to Walmart for a few household items. Forgot my phone in the van and had to remember what was on the list. Managed to get them all, plus a few other things. One was a long curtain rod I'll use to temporarily suspend a moving blanket behind the front seats of the van. Hopefully that'll help damp the noise from the back and maybe keep more A/C in the front. Also got two new plastic shower curtains for the new place. It came with only one, and it was opaque plastic, which made showering in the dark somewhat challenging. First one installed fine, but somehow the ends of the other curtain rod were missing the rubber pads, so it wouldn't stay in place when I put it back up. More slip shod workmanship from the "contractor".

When I drove up to the Walmart, I noticed there was a separate Walmart Home Store right next to it. I'd never been in one, so I stashed my purchases in the van and walked over to see it. Turned out it was mostly a grocery store, even though the Walmart next door also sold some groceries. But this one had more produce, and much more of everything else food wise. But the Home Store also had a bunch of stuff for the home, too. Sounds like an inventory nightmare, but whatever floats Sam's boat...

The hot tub had a floating chlorine dispenser in it, but of course it was empty and the test strips (expired, as expected) showed no trace of chlorination. So I put in a few chunks from the tub I found in the garage, along with a tablespoon or so of powder. When I tested again yesterday the chlorine level pegged the test strip, to I left the cover off last night with the jets running. Can't wait to see what the electric bill looks like this month!

Late in the day I got a call from an old neighbor, asking if I could dig a grave for one of his dogs. Buster was an ancient Boston Terrier that had been fading slowly for a long time. He passed in his masters arms, the best way to go. I had to pass on the digging, made me sad to not be able to help my friend. Gonna miss him after the move, which he, nor any of the neighbors, don't know about. I want to keep it that way for quite a while if I can.

Found a new streaming service the other day that, among other things, features old TV shows. They do insert commercials, but they are short, much shorter than the national networks, and they show only one or two at a time. Binged a few Miami Vice episodes last night, bringing back memories from when I purchased my very first house, as the series had just started back then. The best part was not a bit of buffering to ruin the playback. Didn't hurt that the service is free, either.

Today I think I'll focus on changing the locks here. Near as I can tell, they're all KwikSet, the older style, and my old kit should work. It takes four keys to work all the locks now, and one of them doesn't even have a key. That one should be interesting.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

I bought the insurance with mine. It’s only good for 1 year so was a waste of money for me.
