Good morning!!!!

65 outside this AM, heading to mid 80's.

Storms came through yesterday and last night in about three waves. Lots of sticks to pick up today, a few branches to cut with the chain saw, and a pool to clean. No big deal. Lots of rain, in short bursts. Really pretty sky yesterday in spots as the storms were on the move.

Hope all fared well.

Not much on the task list today, general maintenance and what not.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Good Morning
68 with a high of 75 today under partly cloudy, but dry skies.

Yesterday was hot and steamy, quite oppressive to work outside. Trip to Martha’s Vineyard went OK , had to cross a bit of weather going and coming, but no real issue. It might have been hot on the surface, but it drops about 3-1/2 degrees for every thousand foot of altitude.

The windshield is heated or it would have been covered. It seems counter intuitive, but we get more ice in the summer than we do in the winter because the humidity is so much higher.

Did a Chick-Fila drive through on the way home, rounded up the grandson and we moved hay, grain and bales of wood shavings into the barn. A friend came by later with a model that he wanted to convert to electric, I made him some parts to mount the motor.
Grilled a burger for dinner outside as we watched the storm approach on radar. It brought just under an inch of rain, and peak winds under 30 knots, but left a lot of debris in the lane. I was surprised to see this going around the last bend.

It’s the top of a tree that broke off about 20 feet up.
So I guess I’m about to go put the grapple on the tractor and get out the chainsaws. I’ll bring both the Stihl and Makita to the party, not sure which will be the wallflower.
Hopefully I’ll get it cleaned up in time for breakfast with the professor.
After that we need a Costco run, and then I’ll see what else pops up.

Power still out, 14 hrs now. Generator ran out of gas at 1:30 am. I decided to wait a few hours before starting it, and kept sleeping thru the alarm so started it after 6 am. Fridge and freezer temps still ok. Upstairs was 53°/ 20°, basement was 47° / 10° ,
I keep several gallons water to flush with, and can get more from creek if needed.
Here’s power situation In Westminster MD.

Quite a few people had to be rescued from that mess.

Tens of thousands still without power. Good luck to you and hoping it comes back faster than expected.

Something big and making lots of noise (Gradall)came up the side road, which means that tree is cleared out now. Lots of traffic on main road.
Reports the closest town just got power back in parts of it. I figure we will still be awhile.

there were pics of a bunch of cars and trucks trapped inside downed lines in Westminster MD, couldn't get out of their cars,
scary situation. Local firemen I'm sure got involved.
got lucky here, looks fine outside
Popgadget, sorry for the mess. That line of trees makes a good wind break but
hard on trees.

Glad bad weather missing Big Island.
Paradise needs its sunshine.

Glad you and others are on the plus BEF...maybe tornado?

72 going to 87. The thunderstorm missed us to the north yesterday, but we got some real strong winds from it.

BEF, looks like a mess near you. Hope power is restored soon. Looking to the north yesterday, the clouds were huge and swirling. SNP had tornado alerts, but don't think any hit.

Pop, after a hot humid day like yesterday, I could use a little ice on my truck windshield for a change.

Buppies, hope that toe feels better today.

Took turns working outside and inside. Re-installed the 4x4 post and platform bird feeder that the bear removed for me a couple of weeks ago. This morning he, or a strong raccoon bent down one of the big 6' shepherd hooks as revenge. We've been bringing in 16 hummingbird and regular bird feeders every night for a while. Funny, they never touch some of the other feeders, such as a row of 6 big hummer feeders in the back, only 3 feet off the ground. We still leave them out.

Inside, started working on a set of 4 wooden chairs that have loosened up over the decades. Taking them partially apart, cleaning and regluing with a few screws here and there. Some new DeWalt clamps I bought are really helping.

Ended the day with a dump run, and a stop at the park to take a nice hot hike down to the river...but at least the wind from the storm helped keep it nice.

So as soon as I typed "DeWalt" above, an ad appeared next to this post with...you guessed it, a company selling DeWalt.

Took ranger for a spin. It started ok. Stalled once when I was sitting still, started back up. I put some sea foam in the tank. It has sat for a long time, need to use it more. Only has around 50 hrs on it, bought 7-8 years ago maybe.
Found snagglepuss up on shed roof.

good morning, 65 going to 83 today no more rain in the FC

Lots of reports on power out and trees down. We escaped all that with just a few branches down and some blinking lights no power outage

A PO run is on the agenda today and will see what else I feel like doing today

Morning all, 71 going to 79 and cloudy.
Got 1" of rain last night, lots of tornado watch updates, but overall just gusty winds and minor tree damage that I see so far , came in like a wall last night.

Drew-we had a watchdog at our last house, worked fine for a number of years until the battery started to go. Battery size is important, as even when new it would only pump for about a day.

Power blinked a few times but stayed on, heard some bangs, so more trees down somewhere, in the woods hopefully.

Be well,

Good morning! 80˚ before sunrise heading to 100+ again, no rain for July or August. We can only use the lawn irrigation one day a week and have to hand water the yard the other days before 7am or after 7pm. One person found out that the hand watering used more water but since very few people will stand out in the heat or dark the over all results are a savings of water.

Good Morning!!!! 74F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 94F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Our birthing season was earlier this year, Don. Killed three juveniles, two up near the house. Been nervous ever since, being very careful where I step or reach into. Nice melons!

New shop looks great, GS. And you did so much of it yourself! WOW!

Good help is hard to find, Mike. And so is tolerance for incompetence.

Glad the storm damage wasn't any worse for those of you in the path.

Yesterday got off to an early start to get to the Toyota dealer, early enough that I got the back and driver's side of the van washed before had to leave. The dealer visit was a non-event, as all they did was check the tire pressure and check a bunch of boxes that they looked at something. Changed the oil when I got home since that wasn't part of what they did. Funny (in a bad way) that maintenance intervals skyrocketed at the same time factories started including oil changes and such in their free maintenance programs.

On a lark, made a CAD drawing of the master bedroom at the new place and as I'd feared, my big bed will just barely fit. Three doors in that room leave precious little wall space, and demand more access. Current owner's thought nothing of the practicality. Which got me thinking again about the other less than desirable aspects of the house and the discoveries we've uncovered, so I wrote them all down and came away much less enthusiastic about the deal. Had a long talk with an old realtor friend, and we both concluded that a "meet in the middle" effort would be the last move. If that doesn't work, it's time to move on. New houses come on the market every day, and some have been tempting. For now, the realtor is back in civilization, and is working on the next counter offer. I encouraged him to beat up the other realtor with all the issues we've found, and make sure he understands he's now bound to disclose them to any future buyer should the house go back on the market. And that we'll be watching to make sure they do.

Sun is coming up fast, and I need to get out there and finish the wash and wax job on the van before it gets too hot...

Met my son at church building so he could work here with fast internet, power and working restroom.
I almost got to building and realized I forgot the key.
But when I got here, he was inside talking to the minister. I said I forgot my key, minister asked him how he got in.
Apparently someone had left a door unlocked, not the one we normally use.

Saw someone say we might not get power till tomorrow.
