Good Morning
49 outside, high of 85 under sunny skies, another dry day. No mowing until we get some rain, maybe some showers in the next few days.

Yesterday was another day spent mostly in the recliner. Temperature stayed about 99.5, didn’t feel to bad, just lethargic. Cough subsided, nose dried up, so that was big improvement.

This morning temp is normal and I feel pretty good, I’m planning on venturing out, maybe finish up the little plane, pick up a few bags of dog food for Zoe, generally just merge back into normalcy

I have some 1&2-gallon jugs, but I also like to have the little containers for when you don’t want to lug extra stuff around, but you may need to top off to finish. Plus I like to keep a container in the chainsaw case (along with small containers of bar oil, which infill from gallon jugs, too).

good morning all
you first have to get peony ants, then come the flowers...
not sure of my eyes but I think there's a tiny black ant on that one flower

long, fun but tiring board meeting last night, send off for current head of board, nice pot luck dinner, my store bought desserts went over well.
Our one Greek board member made home made octopus salad, my was that good, and not chewy at all.

next couple of days going to be very warm. Haircut this afternoon, not much else planned, maybe mow this afternoon. Been a while since I've mowed
since it stopped raining. And finally the fiberglass repair kit came in so likely going to get a coat of that on. Now have three coats of underlayment. Have no idea how many top coats needed. slowly grasshopper....

coffee going down but slow to wake up

struck out going to American Legion building yesterday with my old flag. No outdoor containers, just a lot of places to park for 20 bucks.
I'll call them today and find out what their procedure is. Reminds me I need to work on new flag.
my order of 100 little four inch flags came in, I'm ready for July 4th.
Our American Legion (post 6) has been considering such a drop off for old flags. Doubt we will end up doing it however? On the web I found: (for at home disposal)
You can bury a flag in the ground in a well-constructed container to keep it protected. In the US Flag Code, it states the cloth should not come in contact with the ground or dirt. Fold it properly and place it in the box. Take a moment of silence or respectfully say a few words as you bury the box.

I have to admit that the above method is just too much trouble -as much as I would like to do it properly. The nearest drop-off is a LONG way for most people. The U.S. Department of Defense does say you can burn old flags: How to Properly Dispose of Worn-Out U.S. Flags.

This is what I do, although without the proper folding and ceremony.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly…)…

59.9F, May get into 80s, probably rain this afternoon. Too mucky to head to woodlot with dogs.

If weather is cooperative this morning, I may attempt reassembly of the long-stalled cultivator project. More importantly, I will work on hard-boiling the vast accumulation of eggs on our DR table. Possibly even get them pickled? That would be good.

Low expectations day.

i hope everyone has a happy healthy safe productive blessed day!

Morning all, 52 going up to 88 and sunny/hazy
Mowed part of the lawn and then disassembled, clean and sharpened chain and took down rakers on small saw. Then replaced blade on brushcutter and greased the head.

The deer that has been hanging out in my backyard is the same one that sleeps in my little side yard at night. It walked past me and the dog to go lie down, while its yearling was wandering around getting a last snack.

Robin is getting very defensive of it's fledglings and stares at us when we are on the back deck.

Talked to my Uncle and he wants to try stents instead of open heart surgery, can't blame him as he is 90 this year.

Going away party for wife's coworker tonight, so won't get much done.

Be well,

Good morning, 59 going to 86 today no rain around

Planning to work on fence and daughter is coming out to help. Staple gun is ready. That thing is heavy but the good thing is there is a way to hold with the other hand while triggering easing the load on the bad shoulder.

Scraped the edge of wife's flower bed yesterday. Was looking for shovel do it and it hit me go take the excavator and it was done

Talked to other daughter calling in usually daily around supper time. She is struggling with a cold like Popg and trying to be off work although some online sessions continue. Got the political office politics of the day download.

Did not get as much done yesterday as planned but oh well another day. Wife comes first

Did a run to town to drop off letters paying bills and took this picture on the way back of a small stone building next to an 1800's farm house. Could have been the ice house back in the day?

I think I'm making progress
first coat of topcoat went on
biscuit is not quite the right color
lots of sanding to do
I have a can of spray paint that is closer to the match
ironic that closest match is the beige tape I bought
but I have to fix this properly. If it doesn't look good enough, will take to a body shop.

picked last batch of radishes, they are getting weird and deformed towards the end. Plus they get harsher in flavor

Good Morning!!!! 59F @ 6:45AM. Plentiful sunshine. High around 85F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Sorry about the noisy neighbors, JKC. Some people have no consideration, not even for themselves.

Do you have access to the back of the panel you're trying to repair, Drew? If so, clean it up very well with a strong detergent, let it dry, and build up a few layers of fiberglass cloth applied from the back. Then you can grind out all the pieces of broken 'glass on the surface, and use body filler or fiberglass to restore the contour. Fill any pinholes with surfacing putty, then a good coat of high build primer. Maybe too late for that, though. A good automotive paint store will be able to mix paint to match any color and pump it into an aerosol can for you to spray. They can even do a two part acrylic if you like. But I also like the idea of aluminum tread plate patches over both corners...

RNG, glad you are taking your time finding a van....I know you only want to buy once. I've found that I prefer most options....until they break. Most will last.
I'm reading about odd problems with the software and how it interacts with the braking and steering systems. Reports of the anti-sway feature pushing the van over the centerline when trying to pass a semi truck. That's a pretty serious bug.

Yesterday was all about vehicles. Dug the pressure washer out of the storage trailer and puttered around, getting it ready to try out the foam cannon on the Camry. Took a bit of encouragement to get it going after a long time of no use, but it eventually caught. Used a 40° tip and wet it down well, then made up a batch of "Sticky Snowball" soap from Chemical Guys and gave the cannon a try. Didn't use enough soap to get the fluffy blanket shown in the videos I've watched, so put more in the next batch. Better, but not great. Looked at the video again, and he's using way more than the recommended amount (2 oz/liter vs 1-2 oz/5 gallons). I'll try that next time.

Once I let the car dry off for a bit, I got out the new car cover and put it on. First time backwards, but it was easy enough to swap ends and get a much better fit. It's some kind of plasticized fabric with a thick fluffy liner, so I'm hoping it holds up better in the sun than the thin nylon ones I use on the motorcycles. But anything's better than nothing.

That all took way longer than I thought it would, and after a late lunch, decided to dig in to the list of white painted vans, of which there are hundreds, instead of tens for the colorful ones. Turns out it's pretty rare to find a dolled up white one, and most are strippers intended for trade use. Unfortunately the search tools I have access to don't discriminate to that level, so I'm having to download the Monroney sticker for each one to see if the must haves are there. I got through 170 of them yesterday, and sorted by distance, I'm into western Colorado. The only one with the right options was built on the shorter wheelbase, so it was a nogo as well. But I still a long way to go, so there is still hope. And maybe the local dealer will come back with some good news on a quote.

I'll walk the trimmer this morning, then head into town for groceries this afternoon. Got a little extra shopping to do as an old college buddy is supposed to drop by for a few days next week, and I know he likes to eat well.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Dennis- Great job on beefing up the structure..

Rich- Decent looking top link setup.

RonJH, Ken, Fritz, Dennis, and anyone else that I missed- Thanks for sharing your various pictures

Drew- Your repair is coming along nicely.

Dennis- Great job on beefing up the structure..

I ended up taking some liquid decongestant early this AM due to today's smoke. I did not smell any this morning, partly due to the flowering lilacs' and Autumn/RussianOlives' perfume. It was another hazy/veiled sunshine morning with 50ºF as this morning's low temperature and today's predicted high will be ~90ºF. I can not believe the duration of this Rex Blocking pattern. There was enough particulate matter in the air to mess with my camera's auto-focusing this morning. I have a couple of AI bird ID apps and it appears that this property is surrounded by Red-eyed Vireos based on song; I have never seen one.

Due the proximity to an active bird nest. I am holding off on switching the tractor's box scraper blade for the tiller until the House Wrens young fledge which may occur soon.

I too am hoping for some decent precipitation Friday-Monday.

Friday may prove to be "interesting" weather-wise with a fair chance for a decent T-storm or 2.

Good morning! Low of 49°, going up to 73°. A slight chance of a sprinkle and maybe a t-storm this afternoon. Mostly cloudy so far this morning.

Kyle, enjoy the fishing trip with your son. Hope he catches "the big one"!

Drew, looks like the repair is proceeding nicely. Armored corners or a BIG bumper might prevent further body work....

Paul, glad to hear you're feeling better. Hopefully you are "over the hump" and will be back to normal quickly.

Dennis, that was a lot of cutting. Definitely a good amout of seat time. Good that the mower was fixed fairly easily.

Ken, I can understand why the deer hang around... beautiful yard area. Who wouldn't want to browse there!

RNG, hope your persistence pays off and you find that "perfect" van. It's out there.....

Jay, hope you're able to get outside to enjoy the birds and the smoke doesn't hinder the observation. The national news had a story reporting the smoke was traveling as far south as the Delaware Valley.

I still didn't get that planter filled..... but I did get all the zones irrigated.
Then took the time to mix up some insecticide for the fruit trees. Did one tree at a time, mixing the proper amounts in a 5 gal bucket. Then that got poured around each tree. I'm glad it's only a once a year procedure.....

Went and picked up the tubing needed for the drip irrigation extensions to the planters done last week. Pulling a 100' garden hose gets old fast....

While at the garden center, noticed a couple "odd looking" evergreens over in the corner. They were "Altos Blue Sequoias". Came home and researched if they would grow here..... and found out there are a few growing in parks in Santa Fe.
The wifey was looking for a unique 'specimen tree', so I got sent back for one. It's about 5' tall, looking at prices online, could be as high as $250.... I paid $40. Even HD was $80 for a 2ft tree.

Not sure if it will survive, but it sure will be a conversation starter if it does..... I think it will require some TLC to get a strong hold.

The strawberry planter WILL get filled today. Hopefully will get the plants transplanted too. Might get to hooking up the drip on the planters.
image.jpg
The Purple Robe Locust is in full bloom. Most of the 'spring' flowers are done, now the 'summer' flowers are bloomed. Wifey's seeds have popped in the greenhouse.... next season's plantings......

Did some snake wrangling yesterday.... I was walking across the drive and there he was, warming in the sun.... a 5' Bull snake. One of the "good" snakes (If there is such a thing). He got relocated out in the field. I'm glad it wasn't a rattler..... I walked right up to him before I saw him.....

Gonna get myself in gear.... lots of stuff to struggle with.... I hope I don't get sidetracked again....

Everyone have a great day!

66°F and .45 inches rain.

Mowing done, major mind shift ahead. Friend Lenny called to say they are on island and we get together tomorrow to game plan the house painting. I want to be fully prepped so that’s what I’ll be working on. Pretty sure I have all the materials laid in.

H&F later today at friends. Time for the guys to be victorious 🤞

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

RNG- Your van research is fascinating as well as scary as it relates to those software glitches affecting performance. I hope you find the van you envision..

Tom and Ken- The NWS is getting so used to this smoke plume that they refer to it as haze or at least the Boston-Norton Office does. I was huffing and puffing this morning during the pre-dawn 🐕 tour of the lower perimeter which is very unusual nowadays.

Ted you and Dona and family have truly created an oasis paradise in the middle of the desert. Thanks for sharing. The last time I wrangled a snake, a big @r$e rat snake, the outcome proved to be a draw. I caught him and then he caught me. That did hurt. They do stink when agitated. I should have not been holding that G&T 🥃 during the encounter. Our friends who were visiting were "impressed."😲😱 Maybe the snake won in hindsight.

Dennis- Turkeys can run ~35mph.

Now that I am delaying getting the tiller going I will need to pot the basil starts; maybe repot the tomatoes as well.

A pair of Tree Swallows attempted to take over the active Wren house. It did not go well for the TS's. I wish I had the camera with me.

85ºF here ATM.

I hoe that everyone has a manageable day today.

84F and sunny @ 13:00 ... HI 82F - DP is 51F, 32% humidity ...

We are currently under an Air Quality Alert (for ozone)

Got some more seeds planted last night: the "Casper" pumpkins (which are white) and Strawberry Crown winter squash.

Also had to do some replanting ... didn't get the garage door closed before dusk and something got into a few of the pots I had planted seeds in. Suspect it was a 'coon. Need to straighten out trip wire for live trap.

Oddly enough in the couple pots I have checked so far, the seeds were not eaten.

Woman had set a plastic bag of sliced Honey Dew melon which was old out in the garage, probably to go in the compost. Whatever it was got into that and made a real mess ... 🤬

She is out right now picking some groceries for me to tide me over while She is gone, as well as more cat food so I don't have to run out for that.

Big task for today will be to get all those planted pots which are in the garage put into the dump cart and transferred around to the back and then get them set out on the shelves where they can bask in the sun.

Probably get the asparagus roots unbagged and put in some water to soak as well.

Maybe get one of the new blueberry bushes and some rhubarb planted.

Get the loader on the Kubota greased.

Have doctor's appointment later today, thankfully they were able to get me in on short notice.

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday ... (y)
