Drew, does your RV have a black AC unit on top? I was checking out the northbound RVs where I could after passing Natural Bridge KOA.
Nice pic of you two.
buckeye, it does, but most of them do, and this is the most generic motorhome out there, but maybe!

PJ, sounds like a fine haul; I can't resist small plants, they talk to me, like a little puppy saying take me home....

42 in Natural Bridge VA, and will be 55 in Williamsport MD where I'm heading next. This last day on the road is for me to relax, hope Frits can come over and visit. Just too long a drive home and I'd like to get home with a smile on my face, not exhausted.
Time to put jeans and a warm shirt back on, I see it's 32 at home right now, but then temps are going up.

I expect to see all kinds of yellow greeting me when I get home, forsythia and daffodils. The state of the tulips will be determined, likely deer munched. Maybe I'll spray them with Deer-Off.

will probably jinx myself but no ants this morning. What was strange was to see about ten of them on the outside of the rv when I stopped in Walmart in Roanoke to meet Buppies. I brushed them all off, but how did they get outside? And from where? Plot thickens, still don't know where they came from. I'm very careful to vac up food and keep kitchen clean, so I haven't seen them there, which I expected.

trying to decide if I want to stop at rv dealer where I bought this rv in Shoemakersville PA, on way home. Can stay off PA turnpike and take 81/78 home which goes near the dealership. He sent me home last time with hot water heater switch left on electric, and as soon as I turned on unit at home, without water...it broke. Thankfully propane part works fine. He said he would put a new one in no charge.
I've got that "time to get home" feeling so will decide tonight. I also have a leaky water fill port but that job I'm holding for Popgadget, since I need his help putting in a new sink faucet.

very pleased with performance of new tv and sound bar, watching my movie last night. Great thanks to Ken for his help with it, though I still have a few more details to make "look pretty". The Samsung QLED (OLED?) tv is impressive, wish it were bigger, but I laid down on couch and watched the movie.

slow going this morning, no reason to leave early. Pretty sure wind has died down which will make drive much easier.

I turned on the electric mattress pad last night, ahhhhhh.

one small oops yesterday.
had ditty bag in wall shelf in bathroom, must have hit one too many bumps and shelf lost its stick, whole thing fell down about six inches, hitting the water handle on the way. Water turns on, ditty bag of course lands perfectly positioned with top open, and I came in to find water on the floor and a ditty bag full of water. What a mess. Well it got a much needed cleaning out, and put bag in front of heater all night so it's dry now. Thankfully my electric razor was up on the shelf.

going to eat last of my hard boiled eggs for breakfast, maybe an e-muffin
too, in solidarity with Thomas...

MMM,..... I thought for sure I posted this morning.... apparently not....
The low was 29°, hit a high of 62° this afternoon. Winds finally died off last evening. Light breezes this afternoon. More of the same temps / and light winds tomorrow too!

Then for Monday and Tuesday, the 60 mph winds return...welcome to spring in NM.

Finished all the drip zones today. Did some piddling around the shop for a good part of the day. Got most horizontal mining done, didn't find any unexpected things.

I was going to change the oil in the car, but the knee was complaining. Decided tomorrow will be a good day to do it. Might take the opportunity to wash it too!

Drew, nice that you got to meet Buppies. Continued safe travels.

RNG, sorry about the realtor troubles. It's still a crazy market out there, especially Cali market.

Kilroy, glad the pups are getting to know each other. Soon you won't be able to separate them.

RS, nice progress on the saw.

Wing, thanks for the pics. Beautiful area for sure!

Time to go put the feet up. Everyone have a good evening!
I think it will be a while until they are snugglebunnies… but things are improving!

70º daytime temps. What a welcome change after so much cold rain. Weeds are epic. 3 ft tall in the fields. Been mowing where it is dry enough to run the tractor. And running the weedeater along the fence lines. Unfortunately all this new growth will dry out in Summer and become a real fire hazard for California this year.
Been cutting firebreaks and generally giving my self and the equipment a workout.
Fast approaching the tractors first oil change.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

BIG winds yesterday, power went out while we were doing OT, was back on when we got home, the only reason we knew was blinking appliance clocks. Lots of reports of power lines down including some small brushfires.
Took dogs up to the woodlot, walk was a bit quicker due to high winds and fears of falling stuff - lots of branches on the road.

today after mass we will go up to do some work now that winds are dying down, drag logs and maybe even drop that last big pine - I put a NIB chain on for that task.
we will leave the puppers home today so we can work undistracted.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy blessed day!

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 4:30AM. Cloudy this morning with showers during the afternoon. High around 60F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

At least it was just water, Drew, and everything else seems to be going smoothly for you. Congratulations on picking a plum of a used RV!

Realtor checked in yesterday morning with news that the seller already had four offers on the property, and suggested I offer 20K over asking price. No, not gonna happen for an abused and broken property like that. Those buyers are planning to bulldoze that four acre lot, probably subdividing it into at least four parcels, then recouping their investment by selling them off. I'm just looking for a safer place to live, so I'm not even going to bother.

The wind yesterday was more of a breeze than the weather forecasters suggested, so I got another round of spraying in. That's when I had an epiphany. I hate spraying weeds. Glyphosate is a health risk, and I hate wearing a respirator when I'm outside. Then I found a large limb laying across one of the trails, I had to go get the tractor to drag it off. Narrow, slippery trail with a steep drop off on one side. I hate taking my life in my hands for such a simple task, too. And there were three downed trees down there, too. So there went the whole afternoon for an hour job. And that's what really bugged me about that rural property. It would have just been more of the same. Maybe not as steep, but the same old farming routine of cleaning up after trees, mowing, and other back breaking labor. I just want a little patch of grass, or even gravel. And a place to work on the bikes. Close to if not in town, easy to get to the store, doctors, and away from wildfires and near tornadoes. Now just need to find an old car guy that's moving into a nursing home, leaving behind his nice house and four car garage...

And another thing. Almost all of the VWs I've seen for sale have well over 100K miles on them. Not surprising as they're all over 10 years old. I stumbled across a video made by a guy that works on 'em, a professional mechanic, warning that the newer models have problems with the emissions systems on the Diesel engines, and the fixes are expensive. Pretty much the same story Jim here had to tell. Those sellers were getting out of their vehicles before the bomb went off, and moving on to something that would give them less trouble. So I'd save myself a lot of trouble, too, by not going there, and instead get something like a low mileage, ten year old Camry that'll run forever if I do my part with the maintenance. No, it won't get 43 MPG on the highway, but it'll get 30, and that's almost double what I get in the pickup. Gas is a buck a gallon cheaper out here, and the Camry has a heck of a lot nicer ride, too. And a heck of a lot more of 'em for sale, too.

Inside day today, so maybe I'll finish up my taxes.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend.

Good Morning
Sunny and 38 when I woke up. Gusty 30kt winds overnight but subsiding.

Yesterday was a busy one. I had decided that I wasn’t happy with the Verizon hardware, I liked that the extenders used MoCa cable for the backhaul, I didn’t like that the whole they were a self organizing network, it wasn’t a true mesh system. The extenders had their own DHCP server, the SON managed that, and avoided conflicts, but I really needed for the router to handle all traffic for all of my peripherals to work properly.
So I ran a few new Ethernet cables and installed an ASUS Zen AI mesh system, removing all the Verizon Hardware.
Took a break for a nice lunch with my friends, son and grandson, but then back to work.
So far I’m pleased with how it works, the transition was seamless, as I kept the same SSID and passkey as the old system, so most peripherals joined with no intervention. All that’s left is the propane tank monitor and Generac standby generator that appear to be off line.

This morning I’ll head out and see what’s up with them after I finish my bowl of Special K.
After that, it’s back to Hilton Head to pick up the people I dropped off on Thursday. Hopefully get back in time to be productive around here.

Talking a bit of a break after a senior moment. Fell off the ladder. Probably more accurate to say I actually rode it down as it fell, landing on it. I was about 6 feet up using it in inverted V to support some scaffold. Was trying to step around the scaffold to get down when it tipped. No serious damage other what I suspect will be some bruises and likely be sore.my Apple watch worked and triggered. Good thing is I had just finished that task and was about to take a break. Years ago I most likely would have just jumped off rather than hanging on.
Ouch! Hope not too bad.

Great that y'all got to meet! Prayers for healing and comfort.

Crazy storms this past week or 2 up north east. Hope all of y'all are ok.

We need rain. I bought baby tomatoes and still haven't planted them, just too worn out to get behind a tiller...soil is clay and when dry it's like bricks. Needs amending. I might just forgo the garden this year and dump all the lawn clippings in it and let the chickens scratch it around.

We are down to 4 chickens, and one is so broody, I don't have good hopes for her. But we still have plenty of eggs for our normal use.

Son is teaming up with friends for a Rube Goldberg contraption assignment. He has a district track meet Tuesday, which I will attend.

We have had turmoil at our church. My wife and I are frustrated with our pastor. Not sure what his goals were when he forced out the associate pastor and his wife the song/worship leader. Now the secretary quit (due to this) and the day school administrator also quit because of this. I teach Sunday School today. This pastor is due to retire within the year, but he's now making great money and not sure if he will. I'm praying about it. Pastor will have to wear a lot of hats. I'm not volunteering for extra duties to relieve him of his misdeeds.

RNG, maybe just find a parcel somewhere and build you a barndominium and a shop? I worry about what you may think will be safer, but will have more people closer and we all know, people are people. I would be looking to see what the homeless situation is. There in is the starter of many a problem.

Sorry to hear about your Pastor issues. How does the Pastor make more money from his misdeeds?

Last year's council put all his side benefits into 1 package, so that whether he used the benefits or not, he still got paid. Also he got a raise to $120+K. Our church is smallish. Maybe an average of 120 patrons each Sunday. Many of which are middle or low income.

My vision of a small church pastor includes wearing many hats, and even cutting the grass if needed. (we pay about $1000/month for lawn service).

Kinda blustery yesterday, going into the mid 60's today. I didn't get much work done yesterday except a trip to Menard's for some more 8' 2x6's. Seems I mis-figured on my lumber order from the local lumber store - didn't order enough 8'ers. They're not open on weekends and I want to get back out there today and get the other garage door opening framed (off frame - to the left). I finished up the "cripples" on the door frame after this pic was taken.

Good morning! 36° now, high of 51° today. It’s sunny now.

Yesterday was very nice in the morning but went downhill in 5he afternoon. High winds 40+ MPH, heavy rain. Lots of power outages. We were out for a while again.

But in spite of the weather, I managed to complete a couple of projects. The Craftsman garden tractor that my wife prefers to mow with now charges. It had an intermittent no charge issue that became more frequent. Finally pulled the flywheel and found all the magnets off the flywheel and stuck to the stator. i had another flywheel with the same issue, between the 2 found 6 really good magnets of correct polarity to reinstall. I had cleaned the flywheel and magnets earlier in the week, then installed them with a good 2 part epoxy. Kept them clamped in place for 72 hours before reinstalling the flywheel. It charges now…..just under 15A when I first started the engine. After running for a while, it was down under 5A charge rate. That saved $310 for a new flywheel.

After the power came back on, installed the new shift linkage for the race bike. Had to drill the shifter for safety wire first so I could safety wire the shift rubber in place. Then install it. I had painted the parts earlier in the week too.

Not sure what I will do today.

Everyone stay safe out there

Morning all, wild storms last night with lots of lightning and tornado warnings.
Lost cable/internet but it's back on this morning.
We never lost power but people in town did.

Went back to greek place, what else do you do in high winds
Met the owner, mostly locals around since the tourists vacated once the warnings went out.

Still under the weather, yesterday was really bad. Today started off better so far.

Wife angry at me again, not sure what's going on with her thinking.....

Be well
