Plowing all done for now. Took me from 2P.M. till 4:30 P.M. including fuelling up and swapping the V-plow to the bucket. It was only 4", but that was on top of the 2" we got the other day. Temperature a steady 29°F.

mostly_gas - temps are about 10 degrees colder than normal, with a duration of 7-10 days

lots of snow today, 7 inches of new snow this morning alone

truck is not home yet, so i got a ride into town to have breakfast with my Daughter, Son In Law, and 10 months old Gransdson. I have not been able to visit with them for 7 weeks. They live an hour away. They picked the restaurant, i haven't been there in over a year. It is a local private family restaurant, not a chain.

then the craziest thing happened / Christmas miracle / God Move - while we were sitting in the restaurant having breakfast and a chat, my Son walks in with his 2 buddies, and happens to see us in the far end, around the corner. Crazy, because He lives 7 hrs away in Vancouver, happened into the same restaurant (his first time there, ever), at the same time of day. I haven't seen him in 2 yrs, and this was totally random. We all caught up briefly. Then i took the opportunity to get some chicken feed at Peavey Mart, prior to Daughter, Son In Law, Grandson dropping me off at home.

LouNY - sorry to hear of you brother's battle ... praying for you all.

Pop - we need a name-the-puppy-contest. My entry would be GONNIT (as in Dog ...) :)

I'm still catching up on this thread. Prayers as I see the needs. Have a good day everyone. Christmas cheers from BC Canada.

A person was killed driving home from work this afternoon close to our house on Tower road. A big tree fell down killed instantly.

People living up the road from us have a lot of large trees along the road. During storms it is real hazard. Driving home during storms they are very much at risk

Don, did a study long time ago for Texas Utility where they were worried about cold weather causing a shortage of NG. Sounds like it is still an issue
26˚
The low pressure of the natural gas supply was not only on my street this morning it was all over central Texas. Everyone who bought a $10K natural gas generator after the last freeze (like my neighbor) when no electricity was the problem is pretty mad.

The study at the time was focussed on what would happen to power generation if priority was given to home heating and natural gas supplies would be cut off for power generation. It shows that it was a big concern many years ago and also that the capacity was not there for both power generation and home heating during severe cold spells. And it is likely still a problem that has not been addressed

Ok The back-up for natural gas is now electric heat. Any recommendations from the northern guys or should

Do you remember what year the study was and is there any internet reference to it. Key terms/names to search?

Good (Saturday - Christmas Eve) morning. Summer has finally arrived with an overnight Low of 12C and it's presently 26.7C, a slightly breezy partly cloudy day so far.

Yesterday was spent raking the grass and garden trimmings. It being 'St Tibb's eve' I put up/decorated my Christmas tree & internal decorations... buggered if I can find my stockings, though. They're obviously in a very safe place and I'll find them in a month or so. :D

Today is 'wrap presents' day. This evening will be the town's Christmas parade. It travels down the main street, turns around and comes back again. That's it, but it's a tradition.

Then at 2315 it's the Christmas service at Church.

That's about it, take care all and have a Merry Christmas!🎅🦘

Yes the time frame was 1973 to 1975 or so. I am don't think you will find it on the internet. it was an internal to TU study that they don't want out there. it was part of their planning studies for future generation capacity. it caused them to upgrade fuel oil firing to make up for short falls in Ng firing. Although most of their planning was based on using fuel oil firing already built into their dual fueled fired stations. And that created a further study to see what that would be?

9 degrees and going down

I don't think there's much better than opening presents next to the warm fire on a very cold Christmas morning, and you get to throw the wrapping paper you aren't saving
into the fire.

oh boy, local municipality just emergency emailed, many roads closed (trees I'm sure) and 400 homes out of power.
only a matter of time before the lights go out

christmas parade sounds like fun, but not in these temps.
