Good morning!!!!

Good evening! 23 now, high was 25, low this morning was 22. We got a light snow last night. Just enough to turn things white.

Little worried about the forecast. We are planning to leave early Saturday to go see family in MD for Christmas. Weather forecast is concerning.

Replaced the float valve and flapper in the downstairs toilet today. It was time. Actually went fairly easy. Unusual for a plumbing project for me.

I have always felt not being able to speak another language besides American English was a failing for me. Especially when I became International Product Support Manager. But in construction equipment and steel mills, English is the language of the business. but oddly, I did learn a couple of languages. I had German in school, and could function in Germany after listening for a bit. I picked up some French, Spanish, and Italian as well. I became able to follow and hold a conversation in Greek. The Greeks use English technical terms. I picked up Greek be listening to what was said before/after the technical term. I taught myself to read Greek. But once I would leave a country, I couldn’t speak the language again until I listened to native speakers. Never could pick up any Finnish and only a few words in Turkish.

Everyone stay safe out there!
Finnish is hard to learn. It is not in the Nordic language family. Some say it relates to Hungarian. I can get by fine in Sweden, Norway but in Finland only if they speak the minority language Swedish

Good for you learning to speak Greek. That is not an easy language to learn. I find that often when trying the local language they switch to English because they sense you are struggling so it gets harder to practice
In some of the places I have been at out in rural areas they spoke only the local language and ordering food in restaurants was pointing to a line on the menu without knowing what I would get. But over time I would learn what tasted good.
But some dishes I could not eat. Remember this place that gave me what looked like a cherry on a small dish and thinking it was a sweet it almost burned out my mouth. Never again
But around the world people are caring and try their best to understand you and help is what I found
In technical and commercial meetings it helps to understand the language so when they talk among themselves you can pick up their plans to take advantage and then when you leave you say goodby in perfect local language much to their surprise
I dealt a lot with Japanese suppliers for major equipment and except for Judo terms that escapes me to understand. But once a deal is made they work very hard to fulfill their contractual obligations. But if they want to be non responsive to an issue they go into "don't understand" even though I know perfectly well they do.
I remember we had a local maid in Poland that was taking care of the Villa out in the country close to the Russian border. And she cooked for us also. We wanted her to get us some chicken and trying our best to flap our arms etc to make her understand that the menu should change. When we returned the next day the basement was full of live chickens

But I also bought several 15000 HP fans from Denmark and that was interesting when they discovered that I was fluent in Danish.

Don, with RNG as your fashion consultant I bet you could drive that tractor in stylish comfort next year. Hmmm, might you be mistaken for a biker?
You know, heated biker clothes this week is not a bad idea, however I would not know where to plug them in on the Kubota. The windchill is supposed to be zero Friday when I am scheduled to work.

Buckeye, fruit pies at local orchard went from 20 to 24 bucks this year.
I can understand a sour cherry pie for that cost; ingredients are super expensive.
Not so for apples.
But then the little 50 cent fruit pies at supermarket are now at least a dollar piece.
If they tasted better, wouldn't mind paying that, but not much fruit in them. Mostly carbs, sugars and saturated fats.

Buddy got a Milwaukee heated coat for his birthday. Uses the smaller 2 Amp battery from his screw gun kit. He can use the 4amp battery, but the weight distribution with the larger battery isn't as comfortable from what he said after he tried it out.

I have an Ororo heated west that I use when cold. It works great and is comfortable and with two batteries it never runs out of power

Thomas, I put us on equal billing many years ago. I pay $115.oo/month year round. The billing reconciles in July and any residual goes back into the account. I have a $1667.oo credit with them and last month used 487 kw hours. I don't pay for electricity in winter. I also do NOT have electric heat, nor do I have A/C.

The Ororo west that I have is perfect under the regular jacket. The battery last a long time and can be adjusted for more or less power via a button on the front of the west. I have an extra battery on the charger but seldom need to use it during the day. So no need to plug in

Been a good day tater.
Attended both services, and taught Sunday School in between. We have a wonderful Baldwin grand piano, and the pastor's wifey was playing. She also sings like an angel. That was 1st service.

For 2nd service, my daughter got to play along with the husband/wife guitar duet. They had a 4th girl who sang for the first time. She's only 11, but she sings really well.

Then daughter said her car is making a noise. Something in the serpentine belt system. I pulled off the tensioner idler pulley and put a new 6203 2RS bearing, but it didn't help. Ended up ordering a new Bando belt from Amazon for $17.

My kids are exempt from taking midterms at school.

I have so much to do at work, I'm trying to prioritize what I will work on. Time to get things done now that the students are gone. But kind of sad they're gone because I like them.

We have a Torchmate 4 x 4 plasma table, that they let the trough water go bad during alligator season. Now it is rusted like an old battleship. We are about to coat it with POR black paint, after removing most of the rust, and treating it with POR acid solution.

Someday, I hope to cut out some cool designs with the waterjet and the plasma. Just to busy to play any right now.

I did find out that the chiller coolant that circulates in a Renishaw AM400 3D printer costs $500/5 gallons. Ouch. Green prestone would probably work just as good.

Watching the Lisa Ling show about the family being burned out in Tennessee. Very religious town all white and the husband was black war veteran. Was harassed for 6 years and finally burned out.
Sounds familiar to me. It is still happening in this day and age and they were all the "Good" christians in this very religious town. Fortunately they were not home otherwise they would be dead.
Being called nxxger loving hxxe is something that also is familiar to us. This is not a comfortable subject I am sure to many but it is something that needs to be out in the open.
