Morning all, 25 and feels it.

My China people are all scrambling, some on lockdown again. So the changes just moved where/when they quarantine.

Still tired. Hope this goes away soon.

Be well,

Actually it is first time I have heard mailman and garbage man has been tipped. IMHO that's silly, even for US standards ;) But who I am to judge. ;)
Ever hear of a Tractor driver being tipped for people transportation. Well, now you have. I'm surprised also.

I know the mail guy is very appreciative, he writes a nice note of thanks each year.

We all know the restaurant industry runs on tips, it's how servers get paid.
But it's not like that everywhere.
I'm just making this up but say in Japan offering money is a some horrible etiquette mistake
A personal note and some home made muffins can do the same thing.
Doesn't always have to be money.

I started off bussing tables at age 15 working for a cut of the tips.
Tips have always been important to anyone who works in a restaurant or bar.

I guarantee you those guys hauling trash cans all year long for me appreciate the money, in crappy rainy and snowy weather,
always helps to get my cans put back straight up and neatly in driveway when they are done.

and if I keep the mailman happy, which I will do with muffins and money this year, my mail will be well tended to.

so perhaps both saying thank you and investing in good future service.

taxi drivers too. They always expect something.
so a tractor driver, particularly one as skilled and presentable as Don, well I can sure see those
nice ladies slipping him a thank you.

Good morning! It's beginning to feel a bit like Christmas! Cooler weather. 51˚ and .13" rain last night, heading to the mid 60s as the clouds go away, wind from the West.

Something was amiss yesterday when I cam back from the store. people were standing outside, golf carts were driving in fields where they shouldn't be. My wife who stayed home did not hear any loud sounds did not know what was going on either. she met me at the door with Whipper on a leash saying Whipper really wants to go walking bad??? I felt like I was in a Alfred Hitchcock movie.

I asked the first person that passed me, who was driving a golf cart on the sidewalk a place golf carts are not allowed, what was going on.
he told me a small white dog from one of the residents on my street had gotten out of the house and was missing, the whole neighborhood was looking for the dog. Everything finally made sense. Happy ending the dog was found about 9pm. I hope to find out today where the dog was found.

Mostly the granite people still have not called back. I guess I'll continue to watch instructional you-tubes until I find one that is applicable. There are some tiny pits in the black specks in the granite and I would like to fill those, which seems to be the most problematic. I would like a sealer that would fill them instead of buying a uv light and kit to fill each one individually.

You got that right Drew.

I liked the subtle eye movements the driver was given for directions to the first gas station.
Somehow I found this parallel to modern day EV charging issues.
I bet at those times everybody was laughing about mechanism which needs kerosene if horses can run all day and eat grass at roadside ;)

this is for RNG and Popgadget, too long for rest of us non Prius folks
all wheel drive, 49mpg, 6.7 to 60. A veritable rocket shop compared to before.
amazing to get that mileage with awd.
nice looking car too

I'd want the Limited with all the tech but with standard 17inch wheels.
Actually unlikely I could fit in this. More like a Highlander Hybrid. Number one local eco suv, followed by RAV 4s, etc.
no range anxiety

hybrid brings a lot of complexity. Toyota seems to have dealt with it well for a long time and is really the standard bearer here.

Good Morning!!!! 39F @ 5:30AM.
Sunshine and a few afternoon clouds. High 52F. Winds light and variable.

A few versions ago, Apple made significant changes to the OS that made it very difficult to clone the drive. And that also made it difficult to back out an OS upgrade. My usual practice of cloning the drive to an external USB drive broke, and that's one of the reasons my main machine is stuck on Mojave. Another is that my web development tool won't run on anything newer. If you figure out how to roll back the OS upgrade, please share, OK?

I've had good luck mirroring the laptop display to the AppleTV, but both units need to be on the same WiFi network for it to work. It's far easier to just use whatever app streams the video you want to watch, like the Amazon Prime app for example. That won't get you anywhere with home movies, though.

Sounds like the new jobs are going well so far, Paul and Kyle. Glad to know it.

Worked on a drainage problem off the back patio yesterday with the tractor. I had rolled the decomposed granite back there a few days ago, and the tractor didn't leave any tire tracks in it, it was so hard. Still have some raking to do.

Mostly enjoying another Doors biography, this one by John Densmore, their drummer. There's a chapter for each of their albums, and I've been playing the album as I read. He reproduces the lyrics in bits and pieces, and yesterday Morrison's voice synced with the bit I was reading. Kinda erie. I'm reading about the last album, L.A. Woman, now, and it's like watching a train wreck. Densmore has passages where, post mortum, he's writing letters to Morrison, asking what he was thinking, why the self destructive behavior. Sharing good memories, but also regrets. Depressing, and hard to look away.

Town run today; not sure what else I'll get into.

Happy hump day, folks.

Good morning, 31 now, high of 39? today, we shall see.

Truck got serviced. Nothing major noted. Asked them to check the battery as I have gotten a couple of battery saver mode warnings recently. Truck is a 2013 with the original battery. Battery tests good, seems there is a software update I may need if it continues to show the warning.

Getting a haircut this morning. Then picking up a load of wood on the way home. Farmer that gives me wood sometimes has his trailer loaded with split wood. While I have plenty of wood….not turning down a free load of wood.

Not sure what other mischief I will find today.

Everyone stay safe out there!

And a jolly good morning to y'all,
It was 26 here this morning, forecast about 43 for a high today with thickening clouds. Woke up to about 40 geese in the creek squawking up a storm. Might have been due to the 3 bald eagles flying around.

I have some irrigation pipe exposed I am going to have to drain and blow out before it freezes and breaks on me. Parts I need so I can burry it so I don't need to worry about it are on backorder with no idea when they will be in. Local plumbing supply house has them, but they won't sell to anybody but a licensed plumber.

Trip to DMV was a 5 hour waste of time fiasco.

Due to DMV waste of time, gutters and lawn still not cleared of leaves... that has to get done today before the rains tomorrow. Also need to make a long overdue dump run. Guess it is time to finish my coffee and get busy.
