Good morning to all! Low of 21°, only heading up to 42°. Mostly cloudy, no real chances of precipitation. The latest forecast is a big storm moving in from the Sierra Nevada range on Monday..... unfortunately, it will probably pass north of us, only giving us strong high winds.

Doug, sorry to hear about your fall and broken leg. I wouldn't have lasted an hour with that noise before leaving..... Hope you feel / get better soon!

PJ, sorry for the loss of Katness. It's always hard to say goodbye.

Buppies, very heartfelt stories. The "letter from the bridge" made my eyes leak.... I still miss all of our past friends.....

Since there is no errands today, I am hopeful to get out to the shop today .....
until something else comes up....which always happens.

Got a surprise last night at 22:00.... no hot water.... the tankless was trying to fire up (propane), but no success. Got dressed, went outside to the tanks. Apparently, the auto changeover valve did not trip.... flipped the switch and..."hissssssss".... gas flowing again. WH fired right up.
Left me with ???
Maybe not set properly after last fill? ..... I usually double check, but didn't this last time.... that'll teach me.....

Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning, very mild day lovely for winter day. Finished watering the tree planting last night in the dark. Wanted to get that out of the way. A few more waterings and they should be on their own.

My blood pressure med was recalled. The pharmacy left a message.

To follow up on this discussion of books and raising children. We always had dinner at 6 o'clock with the family of 11 seated around the table and they all had an opportunity to talk and took turns talking about their day and what was on their minds even the very young ones. Nothing was too trivial to talk about and it was always surprising what came up to be shared and discussed. And it could range from racial to *** to school issues and many happy and unhappy experiences of the day and each in turn had the floor to talk.

Frits, I’m afraid that is a family experience solely lacking in todays world. Such discussions always provide for lessons learned.

44F and sunny @ 14:00, heading up to a high of around 46F.

Got another drain done on the hot water tank yesterday, looking pretty clean at this point ... (y)

Got all the drawn water moved over to the fish room so it's out of the way and some more gravel vacuumed and cleaned in several tanks as well.

Got the last two new rubber feet put on aluminum step ladder, still need to pick up a new washer that goes in the bottom of one of them. Might have something up in the shop.

Started cleaning and vacuuming back in the utility room, the cobwebs on the ceiling/main floor joists were pretty bad. Also started "The Great Hardware Sort Out".

Have all kinds of nuts. bolts, and various other kinds of hardware lying around loose that need sorted and put in containers. Have been trying to save up old plastic jars and containers to reuse to do that.

Got some sanding done in the dining room as well, still a little more to do.

Refilled hopper feeder.

Woman made the run to the grocery and pet stores and restocked on some items.

More unloading of shelves back in the utility room and moving things around, including moving the big aquarium that is on furniture dollies out of that room.

More work done on dahlias yesterday evening, they're about ready to get put away.

Also got a long section swapped out for a short section and got flue pipe reinstalled for the wood burner. Still need to caulk and seal it up where it goes into the chimney but it pulls good as is.

Went through another banker's box of old records from the early to mid-90's last night and got most of that burned. Still have a ways to go on that and it's slow going as the paper has to be crumpled up to burn completely. Probably spent better than an hour or two sitting there last night going through records and crumpling up papers and tossing them in stove.

Some discussion with The Woman on what (ideally) She would like to see back in the utility room (finished, with flooring and maybe a ceiling, probably suspended) ... so that project has now morphed into a bit more than just throwing some insulation, framing, and drywall on the south outside wall.

Spent some time late last night figuring out the BOM for the additional materials.

Agenda for today:

Probably some more clean up/organizing in the basement.

Throw the pallet forks on the Kubota and get the 4 sheets of drywall in the van moved around back and brought inside the basement.

Move the 2 x 4's that I brought over from the barn a few days ago inside so they can begin to dry out.

Maybe get started on burning the next box of old records.

Hope everyone that is ailing improves with quick recoveries.

PJ - very sorry for the loss of your Katniss ... very tough stuff losing our furry friends.

Hope everyone has a better day ... (y)

Still in the research phase of looking for a car. Focused on a Prius for now,

I would highly recommend a Prius. I’m on my second one, a 3rd generation V.

My first was a second generation and went 12 years & 275k with no problems. I changed the Hybrid battery under 200k it’s wasn’t difficult, Rock Auto had a Dorman for just over a grand. Other than that, just tires, wheel bearings, a water pump wiper blades and bulbs.

The current one is under 90k and hasn’t needed anything but oil and gas.

They are deceptively roomy, It looks like a clown car unloading what it can fit.

good morning all
should be a dry and sunny day, around 50 today

Helo, sorry your neighbor is such a grump
he may get only one piece of coal for Christmas...

did any of you ever get threatened with coal for Christmas?
I always thought that was funny since our house was heated by oil...where was Dad going to get coal?...

might do a little cleanup outside, run the leaf vac one more time, give me something to do to stay outside. Have a few more shrubs to cut back.

.4 inches to the centimeter. Us non metric folks have to convert. Or 2.54 centimeters to the inch. So Helo got about two inches of snow

I keep sniffling and wondering what it is; just don't start coughing, no no no.

dropped off two bags of cough drops to neighbor with horrible cough. He saw the cough drops and big smile on his face.
This crud is hard to get rid of.
we have that saying - when you visit other church you leave your church's song book at home. Here it apply on metric vs imperial sys ;)

For time we have the same system. That is a bless.
Length, weight, volume - to me it's not a problem. You have your system, and that's fine for me. Actually it's very easy to convert, even as I read, it's already in my head. Couple inches = 5 cm, 4 gal = 20 L etc. Little more complex when there is units with multiplication or dividing. Like foot*pound vs Nm or psi vs bar. Not on speed, because time is constant there
Still cant understand, why you guys dont divide inches decimal, but have found that like 8/16 is more convenient ;)
Again - who I am to judge. If it works for you - fine for me.

But guys, temperature, jeeeez.... Conversion is a mess, always have to look in conversion calculator. And meantime have to admit - Celsius scale is so logic. Negative C = water frozen, over 100 C = steam. Guys you really should forget F and adapt C

OK, enough. That is first and last time I am ranting about this. Sorry for this detour. ;)

Anyway, back to business.
At evening took off snow plow and put bucket on FEL. Pushed snow from nearest neighborhood into one big pile, made kids playground. They already started to dig tunnels and polish slopes. Neighbors were happy - their parking spots on streetside are cleared and that "mountain" is nice attraction. It is rather cold, -10 C / 14 F  One guy come with nice cognac. Just for warm up :) All our gang had a lot of fun.
Forecast says T will be negative C for a week, with snow storm in next 36 - 48 hours, that's why I have decided to spend a time working on that pile

Obviously we didn't touch valuable snow of that grumpy lad :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: While we were playing with kids he was digging himself out with shovel
:ROFLMAO:

32F clear sky upper teens over night temp.

Been good thus far...dump run follow by stop for goodies, remove all NO HUNTING signs, stop by the neighbor gave him hand putting on rear tire chain on Kubota,he wants rear blade I think I convince him of getting offset rear blade, only problem purchasing blade near by with out travel long distance...guess I better get ready for date night.

Enjoy your evening all.

Frits, I’m afraid that is a family experience solely lacking in todays world. Such discussions always provide for lessons learned.
David, the discussions helped a lot of the kids but some did not get it and had problems later but then we got pleasantly surprised one day when one was dealing with some conflict and was handling it just fine. We asked how did you know how to do this and reply was we watched mom and dad deal with similar issues and remembered it all. Sometimes you don't think they listen but it goes in and gets recalled.

David, sorry about gen tank.
I was looking at 7500/9400 Firman tri fuel one at Costco today. $900. I’m sure the harmonics are as bad as the Westinghouse one I returned, but it would be nice to have one to run my well pump.

Scootr, You will have to tell us if that red beauty is as much of a chick magnet as it looks. :ROFLMAO:
Hope it isn't as much of a cop magnet as it looks. o_O

Got home in daylight for once. Saw the large dead elm had fallen.

From distance I thought it had been cut, but it broke like that, in several places.

39 going to 50. Pretty sky, but about as full of contrails as I've seen. Definitely see the Atlanta to New York flight path.

PJ, sorry you've lost your Katness. Every pet is special.

There's probably been a billion books written...libraries funded with tax dollars need to use wisdom in choosing from such a large sea of books...not all are age appropriate for young minds...glad they removed the ones that included child *** and pedophilia. I can't imagine a parent wanting his or her child to read that, and many don't know what's going on. I wish more parents took an active role in their child's education.

Rip, I think I saw some of your clouds yesterday...not sure how close I was, but travelled through a number of beautiful areas to come home from my hike...Amissville, Hume, Orlean, Linden, Markham, Waterloo.

My wife had her yoga group at our house yesterday, so tried out a long section of trail north of Shenandoah.
**** should not be made available to children in public or school libraries. Neither should there be any drag queen story hours or 'family friendly' drag shows for children, even with parents, to attend.

Even saw the other day that Tractor Supply had 'sponsored' a 'family friendly' drag show. Very disappointing.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 5C and it's presently 19C, overcast with a light breeze. There was 2mm of rain in the gauge.

This arvo will be a 'putter in the shed' occasion.

That's about it, take care all.

Very cool! What motor is in it?

I thought about building one of those, but built this instead. 351W, into a Sunbeam Alpine. Roll cage, 5 speed, Mustang II front end (narrowed), 9 inch diff.

Nice!

I've seen Sunbeam vehicles before but not one like that.
