Good morning!!!!

Got my new genny home and installed. Fired right up after the old fart turned on the gas. Let it run for a half hour or so to charge up the battery. It has remote start/stop, low oil sensor, 1 L14-30 socket, 2 120V 20A duplex sockets, 30A breaker, 20 amp breaker, also starts with the onboard button and the pull cord. 6250 surge/5000 run. I set it up and it has 5W30 dino oil in it until the first change then it will get 5W30 synthetic.
It has a handle and wheel kit, too. This will work until I get the Dayton back. The Dayton is 9500 watt surge.
Has a 5 gallon tank. Runs on regular gas or E 10. I run all my small engines on ethanol free high test/premium Shell gas. List price $699.99 on sale for $499.97 + tax 13% = $564.97
There is a cable option for a cord that plugs into it to charge the battery off the house.
This thing is called a 'benchmark'. BG Series. It is Home Hardwares' house brand. Engine made in China.

The rest of the day went pretty good. Banker happy now, he got some money.

The letter from Rainbow Bridge made my eyes leak, too.

39F and cloudy @ 21:00, calling for rain/snow this evening. Headed down to a low of around 36F.

Surprise: Pallet forks were already on Kubota so I took it over after I moved the van and slid the 4 sheets of drywall on and moved those around back.

Woman gave me a hand getting them moved inside. Will need another 15 sheets to finish the outside walls in the utility room, can't say I'm looking forward to having to move those inside.

She was still cleaning and organizing in the family room so really no place to put the 2 x 4's at this point, so they got left outside. Tomorrow's another day ...

Fed all the fish.

Then started going through more bankers boxes of old papers and getting them burnt, got another 2 done. Still a bunch more to go.

Woman took a bucket of ashes out and dumped them in the woods.

She made corn bread (in cast iron skillet no less) to go along with the ham and bean soup She made yesterday. Was very tasty.

About to finalize Menards order and get it placed and then will probably head back downstairs and continue on.

Hope everyone had a good day ... (y)

Today was social day. Bowled for the first time in many years with some friends (actually broke 100but still came in 3rd place), and then tonight attended a small neighborhood Christmas party. The host had made up a song book of the most popular 53 Christmas carols and hired a pianist from Craigs list to play his baby grand piano, and it was grand. About 38 neighbors were there.

Finally took the bandages off the foot and gave it a good scrubbing. I don't know if it is healed or the injection is still active but will find out on the followup visit next week. I still have not sign up for working the nighttime "Ornament Hunt" this weekend, I'll probably wait till the last minute to see if the rains materialize.

Randy(wag) Glad you found something to do. Good catch on hose not on.

Randy(wag) hope puttering went well.
Ta Mate... It's good when you 'catch' a screw up of your own. The horses would've let me know that their troughs were empty in a couple of days and I would've felt guilty for having forgot to turn the tap back on.

Puttering went well; the "Mad (Agisting) Horse Woman" & daughter loaded up their horses, this arvo, for an overnight stint at the Pony Club. The mare took a while to load onto the float but, with patients, she finally cooperated. In the meantime, "Mad Horse Woman"'s friend gave me a bottle of Pinot Noir for the use of Paddock #2 for her Morgan.

I took the opportunity to mount some 'cat's eye' reflectors on a fence post at the bottom (roadside) of my driveway. I found the commercial reflectors last Autumn alongside the highway (loose) whilst dismantling political signage and thought that they'd come in handy at some point. I then put up some Christmas decorations (un-lighted) around my "Wagtail Park" sign at the bottom of my driveway.

Currently enjoying a lovely Shiraz-Cabernet from Adelaide, SA. Saturday is typically 'Pizza Night' = mushroom & chilli salami.

Poured first cup of coffee. 29° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 38° with cloudy skies. Snow fell overnight. Enough to make grass areas white. Drive and walkways are just wet. Got caulking done. While I had caulk gun out used infrared thermometer gun and checked for air leaks. Found a couple. I have lived in this house for over 50 years. Air leaks are like mice. Close one off, Find another.
Going to work on adding electrical box to each of my machines in shop to plug a work light into. Tired of electrical cords running all over shop for work lights.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.

good morning all
chilly out, 25, only high of 44 today

off to visit MIL this morning, hopefully last time I see her in rehab, she is headed back to her apt on Monday.
She will be so depressed today, trying to cheer her up.
while her roommate doesn't have a CPAP machine like a jet engine, the last two roommates would lose nurse call button and start yelling
for nurse in middle of night. You don't get much sleep in those places...

then off to visit friend who I promised I'd help with first (actually second) test of her portable gen and home interlock. Nice install of 10kw gen similar to mine, and electrician
did a really nice job of building in a one amp smart charger on the battery. I was impressed. Going to use same electrician myself next month. I was explaining why my friend needed to put
a smart charger on her gen electric start battery once in a while, and here the electrician had beat me to it. Running on 30 pound propane bottles, she should be fine for short outages.

my brother still sick and hacking. Neighbors still sick and hacking. Trying to stay away from folks...hard to do during holidays.
Ordered more cough drops, for house presents...

have a great weekend.
may your day be as bright as this sunflower

Good morning, low temp 5 and the high to 23°F. Wind ENE 11 mph. Sunny!

Although the rest of Canada measures the temperatures in C, I never caught on to it. I still do it in °F. That is how I was educated and it about the only part of my education that stuck. Besides that how come Celsius and Fahrenheit are so far apart on positive temperatures and yet at -40 they are the same?
I can change from kilometres to miles pretty quickly, and I have the formula to change from Litres to U.S. or Imperial gallons.

Good shot of the woodpecker, Ron.

It is too cold for me to do much of anything outside, so today is an energy conservation day.

Have a safe day all

Don, glad you went bowling. Not sure my arthritic fingers could hold the ball anymore but it really is fun.
We had a local place, across river in NJ, I remember as a kid renting bowling shoes there. I think it was 25 cents a game, 15 cents to rent
shoes and then you had to search all over for a ball with holes that fit your fingers. Having your own ball must have made bowling more fun.
Today personal hygiene issues have probably changed that whole scenario. I haven't bowled in a long time.
Can you still rent shoes? Booties? I'm sure they don't want their lanes messed up.

Bill, stay warm.

Good day (already) !

Weather Centrum has told here is -12 C. Car showed even -14C ( 7 F). cold came in combination with fog and now on vegetation is hoarfrost (not sure is this the right word)
View is spectacular, really worth to live in north just because of that view

Today I have no rest from socialization. Wife's colleagues came to our house for sabbath
Actually really nice ladies. Maybe I have told already - my wife is administrative director of national paramedic service. And those are their closest friends from there for already 20 years. Some of them are from HQ either, some are medical management team, some already at pension. I am making jokes with them with that "sabbath" once in 5 years, and that some of them are like old aunts to me. :ROFLMAO:
After a glass of wine sometimes they share really mindblowing stories from their professional life. I guess you can imagine what kind of stories emergency response teams can gather ...

Later I have to figure out how too plug back hydraulic quick connectors for snow plow. Those things are frozen dead. Maybe have to clear room in garage to warm up tractor.

40 going to 45. Good day to get the chainsaw out and give it a little work.

gs, nice looking car...I always loved Sunbeams growing up.

scootr, my other favorite as a kid was the Cobra.

Great stories, Buppies. I haven't been to Botetourt in a few years, but did see on the NPS website where the BRP had been closed in a couple of spots.

Don, hope you're not sore from bowling...that gang singing sounds like fun (on an old Bing Crosby Christmas carol, he talks about gang singing, when everyone joins in).

Decided to change out the batteries on the smoke detectors yesterday...usually do it around the solstice, as a reminder, since daylight savings time isn't a half year anymore. Up and down the ladder six times isn't mountain climbing, but I could dream. My wife and I went on our annual Christmas tree hunting hike...found one she likes. (y) It's one I planted years ago...a buck rubbed it hard back then, but it grew back just fine. Now just need to pick a time to put it up, and then I'll go cut it.

0 degrees Celcius equaling the freezing point of water makes sense.
Since agriculture depends on not freezing, and we sure need agriculture to survive,
knowing the freezing point seems to be a priority for many things. Including being outside.
I'm sure there's a historical story as to why someone made that standard.
F&C for temps, Metric and SAE for machinists and construction. Competing standards.
Not to mention time zones and DST. Makes one wonder what our world would be like if we
were all on the same time.

Since so much stuff comes from China, the metric standard seems more relevant now.
good thing most digital thermometers have a F/C button.

Metric makes a lot of sense for machinists.
just means we have to have two sets of wrenches and sockets.
Unlearning F is hard

great pic Helo.
7 degrees mighty cold for most of us. But sure makes a winter wonderland.
thanks for the pics
have fun with your aunts.
