A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man
was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to
him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside
him had been dead for years. He wondered where the
road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along
one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top
of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in
the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent
gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the
street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and
the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he
saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me,
where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water
brought right up'.
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?'
the traveler asked.

'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward
the road and continued the way he had been going with
his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long
hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate
that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no
fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside,
leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any
water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the
dog.
There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was
an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink
himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward
the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down
the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly
gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like
that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who
would leave their best friends behind❤️

one more

Drew might be going from 3500 to 4500. Greater weight capacity larger front axle. My 4500 sticks out further than your 3500 plus 19.5 in tires

Morning all, 27 going to 48 and I see the sun.
Feeling a little better today, this one has been really bad and wife seems to have it worse :-(

PJ - sorry to hear about Katniss- sad when you lose a family member

When one of the local schools banned the diary of Ann Frank I was not happy.

back to work and hopefully get some rest later, thanks for the well wishes

Drew, I think they stick out on bigger trucks so that only one spare is needed. Dual rear wheels need to have offset hub so there is proper spacing for rear tires.

daugen, while I don't condone what that madman did, the book gives some insight into why he did it. I also don't condone suicide and I really wish he hadn't committed suicide. Would have been better if the Russians had got a hold of him alive.

Good Morning, very mild day lovely for winter day. Finished watering the tree planting last night in the dark. Wanted to get that out of the way. A few more waterings and they should be on their own.

My blood pressure med was recalled. The pharmacy left a message.

To follow up on this discussion of books and raising children. We always had dinner at 6 o'clock with the family of 11 seated around the table and they all had an opportunity to talk and took turns talking about their day and what was on their minds even the very young ones. Nothing was too trivial to talk about and it was always surprising what came up to be shared and discussed. And it could range from racial to *** to school issues and many happy and unhappy experiences of the day and each in turn had the floor to talk.

Good Morning
It’s 31 and might get to 50 under sunny skies.

Yesterday went welL, got HST filter on tractor, batch of other chores done, show was great, ran into people both on stage and in the audience that I hadn’t seen in a very long time, in the case of a pedal steel player, it was 50 years since I saw or played with him.
It was a great time.

Today I’ve got to drop Wife’s car off for inspection, might have them change the oil as well, but I’ll probably do it before I take it.
Not a lot else planned, but something always comes up.

Very well stated Drew. I raised my 3 kids with an iron fist well concealed in a velvet glove. I hard hard lines that they couldn’t cross, but let them make their own boundaries, which ended up almost always inside my invisible line in the sand. Which was good, because I was generally able to keep the iron fist hidden. I suppose that they knew it was there, but they always made the right choices before I had to step in. That encouraged them to be independent. Worked for me, maybe it was just luck, maybe not.

PJ, I’m sorry about your loss of Katniss, I have spoken before about how hard it is to lose a pet, they really do make our lives richer.

34 going to 62º to day. Much needed rain on the way this weekend. Tractor is ready to dress up the road if that happens.
My new hotrod toy is scheduled to be picked up in St Louis today and elivered on Monday. Getting excited.

29 going all the way up to 34. Freezing rain started last night at 10, turned to snow overnight. 2" accumulation, on top of 1/4" of ice. Never lost power. I can shovel the walks. May just pack down the gravel drive, rather than try and scrape it. Gravel probably not froze. Schools have 2 hour late start today.

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 6:45AM.
Cloudy skies. High 53F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Picked up another quarter inch of rain yesterday, more on the way tonight and into the weekend.

Some people are never satisfied, Helo. But you don't have to let it effect your attitude.

We're getting some rain, but we can always use more water, Drew. Should I PM you my addy for that gallon? Neither of us will like the price at the post office. By the end of winter I'll have moss growing on the rocks, and even on the concrete.

Still in the research phase of looking for a car. Focused on a Prius for now, but also looking at the economy and the car market. Sounds like interest rates are hitting the market hard, with people backing out of contracts for new cars, and used car prices getting soft. Gonna be a big negative price impact if Carvana goes bankrupt, and they're well on their way. New car dealers are mostly holding firm on prices, and still asking for more than MSRP for popular models. But askin' ain't gittin', and with the dry months of January and February at hand, maybe they'll soften up, too.

In town yesterday, the eye doctor didn't have any news, good or bad. Picked up the cylinder heads the rebuilder sat on for three months, got the rest of the parts needed to do the carb rebuilds, banannas were the only thing on my grocery list, so that was a quick stop, too. Rain started just as I was leaving for home, held off for most of the way, then started sprinkling as I stopped for the mail. Never did really rain, just a light drizzle later when I went back up to the box to pick up a late FedEx delivery. Filled the wood caddy and brought it in, oh boy is that manzanita heavy!

TGIF gang!

Very cool! What motor is in it?

I thought about building one of those, but built this instead. 351W, into a Sunbeam Alpine. Roll cage, 5 speed, Mustang II front end (narrowed), 9 inch diff.

Good morning! 40 now. Nice day outside, but I am being lay. Woke up too early. But need to do something.

Louie enjoys the Christmas tree too much. This will be ongoing until the tree comes down

Upstairs bathroom remodel is now officially done. New floor, new tub, new plumbing. Wife is happy. So I am happy!

So had a short nap and a snack, guess I should do something.

Everyone stay safe out there

That looks like fun. I was about that age when my Dad got a little MGB. He let me shift while he drove. That started a love affair with roadsters. The Cobra is a Factory 5 replica with a fuel injected 302. Should be alot of fun. Some other cars I have > The Boxster S and a Mustang GT
