As we haven’t had particularly sunny days of late, rainy season has arrived, PV production has been down with having generator having to contribute. My Kohler 14 RESA propane is primary. I also have a Honda EU7000 as a backup. Have not run in several months so figured a good time to let it run and contribute. Started right up but quit after 10-15 seconds. Guess it needed a refill. About half full it seemed the odor of gas was stronger than expected. Soon after I finished, I noticed the tank wet around the rim. Tank was rusted through. Still almost 2 weeks shy of having this generator 5 years!!!
So this afternoon I have a replacement tank on order. As with most things for me, had to find the balance between price and shipping costs, not an item available via Amazon Prime.
I do have to wonder how long it has been rusted and I just didn’t know as the fuel level was below the rust. Less than 5 years - disappointing.

42°F and light rain this morning, only got up to 47° this afternoon. Rained most of the day, and was misty in-between.

Sad day at the Smith house. Our oldest cat, Katniss, finally succumbed to the kidney disease she'd been fighting for the last five years. Found her this morning laying in the hallway downstairs, mostly unresponsive. Took her to the vet, who told us there was nothing she could do for her, except euthanasia. So, she left us today after almost 11 years. She was a good kitty, and is already missed.

Not a lot else got done today. Wife was feeling better today, but still not great. I seem to have made it past most of the cold symptoms. Still have a bit of a stuffy head, but that's it.

Good evening, all.

Afternoon all!
Good news David!
Just got back from eye doctor visit with the wife too. My eyes are showing no change since last visit so next one is a year later.
Her eyes are showing a great improvement after the last procedure! Yay! Pressures are way down and macular is stable! Hopefully can hold off blindness for a few more years!
Been keeping busy in the wood shop making gifts. Got that done and now am working on a sleigh and reindeer display.
Two of the deer are ready for sanding and finish.

Two more to go then off to find sleigh pics or blueprints.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Really nice. Can you give us idea of size?

Sorry to hear about Katniss. We had a cat that was 23 years old before it died. We still miss her she used the bathroom and learned to flush. She was very vocal.

Some books have no place in public school libraries. Plenty of videos of parents getting thrown out of school board meetings for reading vile, disgusting books that are in school libraries. I don’t want my kids reading **** in school books.
I guess Lady Chatterlies Lover is out of the question then. I do have a copy of Mien Kamph. I wish I had it when I was in school. Would have made good fodder for playing devils advocate.

For all of us that have lost pets;

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

I put my Smokie Main Coon down due to kidney disease two years ago, after being away all summer. Sometimes I think she is here in my man cave with me, out of the corner of my eye I will see movement when in fact there is nothing tangible there.

PJ sorry about Katniss.
Yeah, I got off of my lazy backside to do a wee bit of 'gardening'... which, to me is basically clearing what has died over time. :)So it was mostly pruning.

The "Mad Horse Woman" & friend have already moved the Morgan into the adjacent paddock. I noticed that the raised hose to 'their' water trough was drooping, probably due to wallabies scooting under the fence, so I went out and secured it better with a pair of vice-grips. I further noticed that the hose seemed awful light and that the trough level was down a bit; sure enough, I'd neglected to turn the 'tap' on after re-filling my Round-up spray bottle yesterday. So, crisis avoided.

Good Day All

i'm not even trying to catch up this time. a bit more snow every day for the past week. chickens are not liking that. Trying to deal with rats - they have invaded the Province this year. Difficult to find rat traps as everyone is out of stock. The garage is now getting a bucket trap with 12-15 inches of water, maybe that will help. The large Victor wooden rat traps are too dangerous for me after the dislocated shoulder, and the sticky pads are inhumane. Trying to get the snap traps when i can. Still having vehicle issues. it just means that i get more bookkeeping done since i'm at home. Working on the buy-out strategy for my wife.

Alien - that is quite an episode. Take care, i'm sorry that it is a difficult time. Wow, that machine sounded Locomotive like - glad that you got outta there.

Ken - feel better soon

The picture was from Norway way above the arctic circle. I think they call them Trolls. They come in all sizes some as big as people. Lots of folklore associated with them. They lived in the forest and under bridges and in your barn and they can irritate the animals so you feed them rice porridge with sugar to keep them happy
But DO NOT give them a computer :)

PJSprog - sorry for the loss of that fur baby. Always a tough loss

Coffee is brewing. 30° with mostly cloudy skies. Heading to 38° with cloudy skies. Grocery shopping went well. Did some more research on Mig welder liner. Found a couple of YT videos that helped a lot. Got liner cleaned. Welder is back to working like new. New liner arrived late in the day. Already hanging on wall with other spare parts for welders. Helped neighbor clean up his trail from 2 trees that fell over trail.
No sign of mice for third day.
Need to do some caulking today. Closing off what may have been how mice got in house.
Sassy wanted out about 3:30 am today. Moon was peaking out between clouds. Weather Underground says we are still seeing 98% of a full moon.

PJ, sorry to hear about Katniss passing.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Friday morning !
Yesterday night went for dinner for b-day of my wife's sis-in-law husband. They live not far from us, so we have a nice connections. (if I can say so :)) We were 10 people at table, was nice evening

During night got another 5 cm of snow. Wake up early to clean our driveway. I live on lowest priority street and that is private, dead end street so city will never clean it. That's fine for me, I own tractor and dont care at all.
Our road crosses city road in T cross. Near that cross is old house, where lives man ~ 40 - 45 years old, single guy, but together with his mom. With that older lady we sometimes have had some chat, actually yesterday I have pushed snow also from that cross and little bit of city street and we make jokes that her shovel is almost same size than my tractor's plow. but I have never exchanged a single word with that guy. Meantime we have super good connections with other neighbors. Kids are playing together, help each other whenever is needed and so on. As this year I am plowing snow I am becoming even more popular 😁

So this morning that guy was cleaning his yard and went out, towards me as I were approaching
- hi, good morning !
- why the **** you are pushing your snow against my fence ??!! I already have my own **** enough and you are piling up more
- sorry man, it is tractor, it cant make U turn with snow on plow
- I dont give a ****, it is your problem, move away that ****
- ok man, no problem I will push that snow 10 meters further. And does really that **** and **** were needed ? Why cant you just say it politely ?
- just stop ******* push your snow to my fence
- well, technically it is your street, your snow. My snow is 150 meters back. But no problem, I will find another way, if this one make you feel sad 😁
- angry noises, went back into home... 😁

Bloody *******, how he spoiled my mood

Anyway, forecast says that cyclone is coming with strong winds and for the Sunday/Monday we could get another 25 - 30 cm of snow on top of already existing 20 - 30 cm. Nice.

good morning all
should be a dry and sunny day, around 50 today

Helo, sorry your neighbor is such a grump
he may get only one piece of coal for Christmas...

did any of you ever get threatened with coal for Christmas?
I always thought that was funny since our house was heated by oil...where was Dad going to get coal?...

might do a little cleanup outside, run the leaf vac one more time, give me something to do to stay outside. Have a few more shrubs to cut back.

.4 inches to the centimeter. Us non metric folks have to convert. Or 2.54 centimeters to the inch. So Helo got about two inches of snow

I keep sniffling and wondering what it is; just don't start coughing, no no no.

dropped off two bags of cough drops to neighbor with horrible cough. He saw the cough drops and big smile on his face.
This crud is hard to get rid of.
