Good morning, a clammy cool 53F here.

My93yo mom had to go to hospital last week for shortness of breath. She was released after 3 days. 3rd time this year. Thought she had a heart attack, but no troponin (sp?), nurse explained that with her congestive heart, that possibly sodium causes it to make fluid that ends up in the lungs, thus pneumonia. She has a prescription for lasix, but doesn't take it with regularity. There is one med she says she can't do without, Gabapentin. I just saw a Sheryl Atkisson news report on Gabapentin. It has side effects, and some correlate it to opiates. Drs prescribe it for nerve damage/pain associated with shingles and diabetes. Proponents say there are almost no Rx for that type of pain.

I hope to go visit her this afternoon after church.

Busy day at church. We have a budget meeting at 10am between services. There are some frustrations and I've been praying for good communication between all parties.

We had an Electrolux for like...forever. We also had a lot of Stanley home products. Memories that they were all good products.

My brother sent me some compression socks, and anklets. Tried the anklets, seemed helpful.

Our church had a special gathering at a church camp retreat outside of town. It was very nice. We were served supper then they had a handful of activities. Blacklight bazooka ball war room, Axe throwing (both were fun), One Wheel skateboard riding...or attempt to. Zip line, crate stacking (my son got 25) and a really nice coffee room.

Putting new tooling in the cnc mill. It has a 50 station tool holder. Making a spreadsheet for the tool list.

Prayers for our team, country, Ukraine.

If you have vision insurance, be sure to take advantage of yearly allowances, if you haven't used them up this year.

We have animal by dyson great vacuum cleaner
All this writing about vacuums sucks!
I'm in need of a "stick vacuum", cordless, small jobs, mostly "spot vacuuming" for my daughter. She has a wonderful husband who does most of the vacuuming with a relatively new "big" vacuum. But she also has a new baby, her first, and wants to be able to clean up messes without hauling the big one out.
It's all hard surface floors, some dog hair, baby not big enough to track in dirt.
I'm thinking of something like the BLACK+DECKER Powerseries Extreme Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner, would do what she needs without breaking the bank.
Do any of you TBN'ers have a better recommendation?

Good morning! Was a frosty 16 when we got up this morning. High is supposed to be 39 and sunny. The wood burner feels good this morning.

When I was growing up, seemed everyone had a Hoover. But then the Hoover company was 30 miles up the road.

Dabbled with the 1952 BSA yesterday. I now think all of the sheet metal is correctly mounted. Time for some pictures/notes then take it apart to be painted.

Enjoyed dinner with the AMCA club last evening. New president took over.

Not sure what today will bring.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Good Morning, Happy Sunday. still catching up on this thread.

vacuums ... weighing in -

grew up with one of those great Sunbeam cannister units, i received it from my mom when she passed, and still use it

Shark handheld - it was great for cleaning the car, and small jobs

Kirby - 35 yrs ago, the door to door sales gal was apparently so cute that my roommate spent $1700 on the vacuum. I wasn't home at the time, so could not talk him out of it. He vacuumed after that, I did not want to even touch it because i couldn't afford to replace it

Dyson - we bought one about 15 years ago, paid $800 and worth every penny. Lots of use out of it as the kids grew up. When the house was renovated several years later, all the carpet was removed. This unit was replaced by a swiffer and a broom. It was stored in the garage for about 3 years. Then we gave it to a friend of mine, a struggling single mom who i have known since we were teens, some 40 years ago. Her vacuum had been broken and she could not afford one. It still blesses her.

Wet & Dry Shop Vac - current, along with the Sunbeam. Most often used.

I don’t want to know how many vacuum cleaners we have gone through in he last 45 years. Too many.

Bought one of these the other day to use in the building and on the truck. It’s pretty handy.

If it was up to me only, I’d probably use a Stihl shop vac in the house. I think they are fairly quiet and powerful enough and have a long hose and tube.

67°F and .25 inches rain.

It was mostly an inside day yesterday I got my Christmas shopping done. Actually not that difficult. Sit at kitchen table and write out a bunch of checks and online gift cards. We apparently get sizes right as there has never been a return. Of course that may indicate realization that such an error wouldn’t be repeated next year.

Also got the Christmas tree up. Just an artificial, as I just find the price of real to be ridiculous. Someday may have to do something with those boxes of decorations collected over the years.

H&F over to friends’ house this afternoon for our weekly guys vs gals game and dinner.

All this discussion on wood stoves and burning wood especially growing up. It would be a special winter my Dad would get a load of coal to supplement. For the winters during high school most of our wood came from tearing down an old barn. Lucky to get 2-3 hours from a fill. My job was to relight in morning if it didn’t last the night.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of 13.5C and it's presently 21.8C, partly cloudy with a gentle breeze.

The St Marys gathering was a lovely arvo with good friends and too much to nibble on. The site was at a mutual friend's camel 'farm' (yep, they've got 5 camels and conduct tours & such). Beautiful day with the upper temp reaching 28C, however the UV rays were brutal. I picked up some fish & chips for tea on the way home.

I'm off to Church in a few minutes and then I'll probably give the lawn around the house a mow this arvo as we're expecting rain tomorrow.

That's about it, take care all.

The problem with all these vacuums is that they spread fine dust throughout the house. Even HEPA filters can only do so much. That is why we always use central vacuum systems. Then the exhaust goes straight out doors.

I have a Shark. It's not cordless, but it does a great job and is light.

They have others, cordless too.

Good morning to all! Low of 36°, expecting to go up to 48°. Rain started yesterday around 14:30, nice steady light rain. Max was not happy when it was still raining at 22:00 for his last outing. We did get almost a 1/2" of rain....a very good thing!

Kilroy, I didn't know you were up in Trenton.... I really have to shake your hand! That's one tough neighborhood..... When we lived in Bucks Co. (Newtown) we tried to avoid Trenton at all costs. Same with Camden. I'm sure we can exchange some stories about those places!

Dennis, that was one good log for sure! Glad you got out and got some seat time!

RIP, did you get the Deja Vu feeling going around the pasture? Those are the type of jobs that you say to yourself "just keep going....we're 2/3 done..." as you go around the third time....

Kyle, sorry to hear about your mom going to the hospital again. Lasix is an important med that should be taken regularly. I t can cause problems when used just sporadically. Glad it wasn't anything major.

RNG, keep blowing the moisture this direction! You got a decent amount. By the way, have you tried any more robotic vacuums? We used to enjoy your unbiased opinions on the ones you tried! (LOL)

We have gone through many vacuums over the years. Currently using a Kenmore canister vac with a powered head. Not sure of what company made it, but still going strong. We also have a B&D dustbuster cordless 16V. It has surprisingly good suction, but it is exceptionally loud!

The pizza yesterday turned into a real fiasco! Ordered on line.... went to the store for pickup.... made wrong (pan pizzas should have toppings all the way to the edge) .... The manager (so-called) remade them while I waited another 20 minutes.
All the while, the group of employees harassed each other, used vulgar language, made very inappropriate comments, and were obnoxiously loud. When the second pizzas were done, they were still wrong, but a little better. I took them and left. That was my mistake.

When I got home, the wifey wasn't happy with them, and the center of both pizzas were raw! I called the store again and asked for the manager. He refused to remake them again, saying "we cooked them well done", so too bad. I'll remake them if you pay for them again!" I asked for the general manager ( who I had a conversation with a week before, about the pan pizzas coming out raw) he refused to put her on, just saying "she's not available".

Ohh boy ----- I wrote a blistering email to Domino's corporate customer service. Then after send that email, I got a survey from Domino's. Another blistering statement was written. The pizzas got their pictures taken and sent to corporate. Then they got put in the freezer so they can be shown to the manager.
This local Domino's has a lot to be desired.... my guess is 3/5 times the order is wrong. Wifey said "don't even ask my about getting Domino's again!"

We had some leftovers......
Thanks for letting me vent....
I hope everyone has a peaceful and pleasant day!
