My wife is interested in replacing some of our old beat up furniture, so we took a day trip to Farmville. One company has renovated a whole town full of old brick shoe factories and downtown store fronts, full of interesting new and old pieces and rugs and accessories, etc.
By the sounds Santastarting early this year. :)

The Big Island is decided into 9 lava zones. We are zone 8, quite safe.

Going to a neighbor lady’s funeral, she was 84 and poor health last few years. In the past I might have been tempted to say elderly lady, but being 76 84 doesn’t seem so elderly.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
Hope the volcano does not flow into your area and that the ash fall out is not too bad. I am constantly catching myself about saying someone is elderly when they actually are younger than me. I guess I should consider myself as elderly but that does not come up in my mind even at 80.

trip to the dentist far worse than expected.
Far worse.
Seemed I broke my unbreakable zirconium bridge, connecting two crowns.
Dentist promptly told me he didn't put in the bridge. Ok.
So how much to fix my broken tooth.
$3900
priced at 3 1400 dollar crowns with a little off
not much off for sure. And the bridge isn't a crown but they charge for a whole one anyway.
I'm going to sleep on it.
2 hours of work and a couple hundred subcontracted dollars. What a racket.

at least my MIL looked better, more coherent and I saw her smile. Coming out of the fog, a little.

Home. Almost sideswiped on interstate 2nd day in a row.
Then had to climb the bank again at mailbox to avoid being hit. Nobody coming when I went over. But mail lady had stuffed an oversized package in, that by the time I got it unwedged, here comes cars both ways. It’s getting too dangerous to get my mail.

Feet up, kitty on me.

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 6C and it's presently 23.2C. Fairly clear sky with a light breeze.

The outside windows got cleaned via a 'spray-on/wash-off' applicator called "Window Witch". (Penelope the Pussybeast wasn't pleased with the activity) The horses were transferred, so, after my weekly 'trip-into-town' for mail & groceries, it's time for some tractor fun to chain-harrow the used paddocks. I'll follow up by mowing with the Z-turn to mulch the droppings.

The Veteran's funeral has been shifted to this Monday.

That's about it, take care all.

51F and cloudy @ 23:59 - with an active Gale Warning on Lake Erie. Reached a high of 53.6F for the day today.

Ended up going back to bed yesterday (Monday) as I had been up all night the night before.

Did get a good amount of decorating research done while I was up overnight though, mainly on color schemes. Interior has been pastels for as long as I can remember (dull IMO) so will probably go in a different direction. Also looking to incorporate some oriental design aspects as well.

When I did eventually get up I got cleaned up and we headed over to Home Depot to get those LED bulbs exchanged. Dropped off the trash and some recyclables on the way out.

First issue was the guy @ the CS counter tried to scan the boxes and apparently the SKU was no longer in the system. These are "Ecosmart" bulbs - which is an in-house private label (Home Depot only) ... so his thoughts were that they couldn't replace them.

(In reality, what had happened, was that Ecosmart had discontinued the ones I had but had replaced them with a different SKU - which I found out when I went back to grab another bulb that I needed)

At that point the girl at the next register over got involved and tried telling me that they don't replace anything beyond 90 days (except for two items: Klein Tools and Husky brands IIRC)

At that point I whipped out my phone and showed them this:

Screen Shot 2022-11-29 at 12.58.00.png

... which I had found on the Ecosmart website ... ;)

They scoped that out and then the girl asked when I had purchased them (a few years ago but pretty sure less than 5) and asked if I had my receipt (pretty sure I do - but didn't bring it with me)

At that point they tried telling me that I'd have to go through the company so I headed back to grab that 24" T8 LED tube that I needed (which they didn't have) and that's when I discovered they had replaced the bulbs with a different SKU that had essentially the same specs.

So I brought up the replacement bulbs they thought they didn't have and had them call the manager. Had to wait a bit for that, but eventually he offered knock 50% off the new replacements ($15) - which I thought was fairly reasonable (considering the alternative of having to call Ecosmart and screwing around with them, possibility of making another trip back to the store, etc.)

Did notice that Ecosmart cut the estimated life on the bulbs from 22 years down to 13 on the new ones ...

Swung by Maki House and Chipotle for dinner.

Got Amazon order placed for the tuber/corm fungicide + some cooking utensils that are safe for non-stick cookware ... as well as a Christmas present for The Woman that She doesn't know about yet ... ;)

Got another coat of mud applied that night before I hit the rack.

Reasonably good day today:

Got hopper feeder and 2 suet feeders filled 1st thing.

Then picked up a tote's worth of small wood pieces out front and took that and another tote which had already been filled up to the shop to use as kindling.

Picked up the shelving cross beams which were holding down the tarps in the area of the garden that I haven't prepped or tilled yet and then took the old tattered tarp up to the road and stuck it in the can.

After that another trip up to the shop with the Cub with some items which I dropped off, also dumped a 5 gallon bucket of compostables over on the pile.

Woman worked some on pulling the staples for the landscape fabric/weed block in the garden but Her feet were bothering Her so She didn't finish it. I'll finish it up during the next warm spell in a few days.

Did not locate my preferred 5/16" chain I normally keep on the tractor but I did gather up a couple of 3/8" chains, and used one with the Kubota to pull the two feeder poles around back. Also pulled two pieces of rebar that were used to stake a couple of ornamental trees when we planted them (5 years or so ago ?)

Brought the poles over to the west side and dropped them off and then took the chains up to the shop and dropped those off.

Gathered up the 4 pots and bags from the day lilies The Woman recently planted. Need to record the order that those were planted in so they can be labelled.

Took the lawn dethatcher, 3 or 4 garden hoses, and what was left of a roll of 4' poultry netting over to the pole barn and got them put away.

Grabbed a couple of 2' tall chickenwire cages while I was over there and took them over to the new burning bushes and got those put on and stapled in.

Gathered up all the growers pots out front and got those moved inside the garage before the winds arrived.

Put the Cub and came inside as it was dark out.

By that time I was hungry so I warmed up my Shrimp Teriyaki and was surprised to find out that it wasn't much past 17:30 when I turned on the TV.

Went downstairs after dinner and did some more work on the fish tanks, got the new bulbs installed, and the smart switch for the room reconnected.

The big Zambian Juli is doing well, its tank mate seems to have disappeared though ... bummer:

IMG_2113 copy.jpg

Knocked off around 22:00 when the room lights went out and came back upstairs and warmed up the last of the Shrimp and ate it.

Just threw a coat of mud on those last two areas in the dining room, tomorrow night I'll start sanding them to see if they're good to go or whether they need a final coat.

Going to go do a little more work on dahlias, maybe make a sheet cake if I get really inspired.

Hope everyone had a good day ... (y)

Coffee is done brewing. 49° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 39° with high winds. Started cleanup in shop. Found a project I had started months ago. Spent several hours boring 1 1/8" holes. Need to work on fitting it to tractor for 3rd and 4th function hoses on tractor. Will continues on that today. May get a little more cleanup done in shop.
Got to be a way to get up to those bird feeders.

David, great pictures of volcano color.

Drew, I dread going to dentist and eye Dr. Always a overpriced bill.

Everyone stay safe and well.

rswyan - nice aquarium photo.
i used to have aquariums since i was a kid and I had a 72 gal Piranha tank for several years in my 20s. When my chaotic life circs settle down, i'm planning to get a new aquarium set-up, something not too big, probably 30 gallons. A shark tank might be the next one. :)

txdon said, "A cold front will be blowing in at midnight so today will be the last day to put up the Christmas lights in comfort."

Yep, it was a warm and beautiful day yesterday, but 34 degrees this morning. However . . . Margaret had already done all her indoor Christmas decorating before Thanksgiving, and for the outdoor decorating . . . well, for the first time ever I'm hiring it done, and they are supposed to do it today. Maybe (not guarantee, but maybe) I'll get a picture when they get it done.

Good morning, low temp is 34 and the high to 41°F. Wind ESE 19 gusting to 25 mph. Periods of rain or snow.
I would hazard a w.a.g. that at 41°F, there will be no snow.

Today is a North Bay trip, I'll leave the house at 08:00 hours. There are either 6 or 7 stops on this trip, including lunch. There is a full rack of ribs with my name on them and a generous helping of sweet potato fries at Boston Pizza. No rib joints in NB and BP has the best ribs I have ever had. I will let you all know how much I paid for gas after I get back.

Have a safe day all

46 and a good rain underway. Should see 60 later.

Mostly, congrats on hitting 6,000 again. Amazing.

Got a good hike in yesterday, testing out a new pair of hiking boots. Wife went to see her mom, and Costco. Then, with house completely empty, got a 25 minute nap! Not caught up from a weekend of late nights (for me), but felt good.

Buppies, no ice on December 7, please...but will trade for big snow.

rs, way to go holding Home Depots feet to the fire.
I only keep receipts for 'big ticket' items. $2400.oo stove, $4500.oo hybrid hot water heater and such.
You are putting me to shame with all the work you are doing in a day.
Hydro is doing a fair amount of flickering today, good thing is my backups is absorbing all the spikes, so far. It had better, it is only 2 months old. Receipt attached to it.
Maybe your big fish is bullying the other one and it was hiding, or maybe the one in the picture ate the other fish.

46 outside and raining. Heading close to 60 today. A frontal system moves in later in the afternoon so temps are expected to come down.

Managed to get the chainsaw into the woods yesterday. Loaded the RTV and split and stacked it too. Lots of trees on the ground, nice and dry too.

Looks like wife will be in the hospital over xMas. Funny, we have been here before with her back.

Daughter heads up to NY within the next two weeks for final consultations on her back.

Hoping to get all this out of the way and start the New Year off right.

Best wishes to all. Have a great day and be safe.
