Good Morning Everyone

kenmbz -
are those turkey vultures (aka buzzards)? wingspan is 5-6 feet ? big, ugly, bright red head ? that's the only type that we see in BC, we previously had about a dozen of them living in the trees on our property. that was years ago ... the chickens are happier now (internet photo)

Did you know the turkey vultures migrate? Saw it once in Joshua Tree CA. 60 or so huge birds moving along in lazy circular motion.
Then they settled down into a stand of trees for the night, their weight bending and almost breaking the branches... kind of spooky

those birds have the ugliest faces
carrion eaters, they will come for us if they can...

Routine oil change, 135 bucks, including full going over of car. Which frankly needed nothing but unless it's up on a lift, you can't see a lot.
Every new car in there started at 60 grand. Many of us can remember when that would buy you a nice house.

changing clothes, out to get dirty, suck up the leaves and clean out the veggie gardens. Pretty breezy out.

I understand the negative feelings toward insurance. I sold my insurance agency when I wanted to deal with things that folks enjoyed.
Like electronics. So nice to see folks leave with a smile. That didn't happen too often with insurance.
I enjoyed claims adjusting. Making sure folks got paid quickly and fairly. Never was under any pressure to reduce claims amount, just do what was right.
All calls returned within one business day. All correspondence acknowledged and acted on within 3 days.
good old fashioned customer service.
Having taught all the insurance policies for two years at home office, I knew more about the policy language than anyone I dealt with, and why the companies
were happy to give me authority to pay claims for them. It's just contract law and I come from a family of contract lawyers.
But the business wore me out and it became all about the money and nothing about fun.

Seeing folks smile with anticipation was a delight in an electronics store. The change I was looking for vs all those years in insurance.
Later on became a financial planner and knowing insurance, long term care, etc was very helpful.
I do miss that Radio Shack. Don't miss being inside those closed walls six days a week. Most of us prefer fresh air.
Which I'm headed for now.

Good morning,
41° mostly cloudy West winds at 10 mph with gusts around 25 mph.

There used to be a large dead pine tree across the street from us that a couple of turkey vultures would hang out in. We used to joke about which one of us they were waiting for. They certainly are scary looking but pretty awesome when you see them soaring in the air currents.

Heading out to the coast shortly for some takeout seafood and watch the ocean, it’s nice when the crowds are gone for the season.

enjoy your afternoon everyone

69°F and .38 inches rain.

Spent too much at Costco yesterday without getting anything special. What a madhouse!!

Tracking notices say my items for my UniFi network are in my P.O. Box. Will retrieve those this morning and hopefully can get that reconfiguration finished today.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Sounds wonderful.
Now if you were headed for the Jersey shore, I'd meet you there!
How long a drive is it for you?

don't give Buppies any ideas or he'll be gone in a minute...

+1 on that. The ones here not only like plying the rising air currents, but swoop and dive through the trees at very near ground level. The back yard drops off into the canyon, and I often see them at eye level, some almost close enough to reach out and touch. It's pretty obvious that they do these things for the pure joy of flying. Kinda makes me jealous, except when I remember where they prefer to dine.

23°F and clear-ish skies this morning, going up to 43° today.

Hard to get up this morning. The bed didn't want to let go.

Nice, Chris. Been on a blues kick myself lately. Stumbled across a video last night of Erma Franklin singing Piece of My Heart, from '67, before Janis got ahold of it. Never knew Aretha had an older sister, and what a voice.

Good morning, gents.

34F and mostly cloudy @ 12:15, heading to a high of around 36F for the day. This mornings low hit 29.1F so hard freeze. Like Rich we got about 1/2" of snow overnight.

Got blood drawn yesterday afternoon after I got cleaned up.

Since I had showered, shaved, and was otherwise presentable, we decided on an early date night and headed out for dinner @ Eadies Fish House:

Normally any uncovered space on the walls and ceiling would be covered in dollar bills but they had all been taken down. Their parking lot had been paved so maybe that's where they went.

I had the all-you-eat fish and onion rings which was delicious (grouper), Woman had a bowl of their homemade New England Clam Chowder (also delicious) and a baked potato.

We were back at home by 18:30.

I did have a tall mug of a Vanilla Porter which was interesting so once we got home I promptly feel asleep for around 3 hours.

Did manage to get the Elephant Ear and the Spike plants moved inside last night before heading to bed so they wouldn't freeze.

Have a doctor's appointment later this afternoon, so that will put an interruption into getting much accomplished.

Probably go out and refill the hopper feeder.

Possibly get back to work in the dining room.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday ... (y)
