27 degrees here. About 3" of snow, over the last two days. I got the 3pt snow blower moved to the pole barn and hooked up the rear blade. I tried a light pass on the drive, but the stones are not frozen yet so it (I) started making a mess. I'll just drive on it awhile until it's froze good.

Fiber optic phone/internet/TV company is dropping their TV service in a few months and want me to take DirecTv stream. I don't like the channel lineup and I have set up a satellite account (DirecTv "Choice" channel lineup) and after two days of snafu, the install is scheduled for tomorrow. Lots of trees to the south of the house, so we'll see if they can find a good spot for the dish. On a corner of the pole barn might be good, but they'll need to (eventually) bury the cable that runs to the house. Winter is here.

Anyone have a remote satellite dish mounted to their out building or on a stand alone (8 foot?) pole? How long can the cable run be?

Used to see pole mounts frequently around here, it was an extra cost option at the time, as I recall about $150.

BEF - praying that you feel better soon. None of us want to be missing you, so please come back - your posts are a great encouragement in this group. :) Take Care

The cable to the pole mount DirecTV dish here is about 50' long. As far as I know, it's just a plain old coax cable. No idea how long it can be, but I'd bet you can find that with a Google search.

I'm giving strong consideration to dropping my DirecTV, though. A lot of the shows I follow are now available through streaming outlets. I just have to find the time to make sure I can pick up all the regulars, as well as a local TV station or two, and I'll drop DirecTV. Seems like every 6 months they jack up the rate for no improvement in service. I've called so many times to complain/renegotiate the rate, they now say there's nothing more they can do for me. I won't be sad to see them go...

Good afternoon,
Snow started a little after midnight and turned to rain an hour or so later. Rained all day and temp went to 48°, got a little over an inch. Temp dropping pretty quick, already down to 38 but supposedly will stay above freezing tonight. Winds are picking up as well around 10 mph with gusts above 20 mph should help dry things up.

Other than a trip to the store this morning and loading the truck for a trip to the dump shortly, I’ve accomplished just about nothing today and don’t even feel guilty about it 😁

enjoy your evening everyone

Good Afternoon,
Just got home from Maine where this was the view on the way to the airport from the hotel-
IMG_0141.jpg

I liked the size of that plow.

It was sunny and blustery in Philly, but now is grey and a high overcast here at home. It’s 44 here with little to no chance of precipitation which is good.

I am dependent on electricity for heat, a geothermal heat pump in the house, and a high SEER mini split in the shop, with a higher capacity 16 SEER heat pump to help, and a propane furnace in case we go full arctic. Propane generator if the power grows out, and PTO generator if that one fails. Propane tank and diesel tank are full, hopefully they will stay that way, and I’ll have a cozy winter.
Propane prices aren’t bad yet, but oil is nuts.

Still hanging around for now, posting on eggshells.

Still miss having Roy and Randy (toppop) around.
Wife picked up a spicy chicken bake from Costco made using their rotisserie chicken meat. Good, but not something I probably should have eaten right now.
Still feeling yucky, and called in sick. Still coughing stuff. Did test negative for alligatoritis again. Wife said Costco did not have any test kits there, I have 1 left.
Nothing accomplished today.
Kitty on my lap.
41°, guess that is still safe to post.

Glad good trip back from Bangor. Went to scout camp up there 12+ years ago.

I was supposed to teach class at Bible study tonight, but I got a substitute.

Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 3.5C and it's presently 16.4C, overcast (although it was sunny an hour ago) with a Southerly breeze. There was 1mm in the gauge at 0900.

I got most of the wood stacked by the house. Interrupted for about 15 minutes by a downpour. I paused to see if it would stop, and it did, so I 'pushed on' but set myself a time limit of 1600. A good thing too as I was getting tired and 'wobbly' by then and that's when accidents happen. I always go through a full-body stretching routine before stacking but I must have gone juuuust past my limits as I ended up with leg cramps after going to bed at 2230. Although the temptation is there, I'll probably wait until tomorrow to continue stacking.

I've got a dental check-up this arvo and an evening dinner/meeting to end the day.

That's about it, take care all.

Good morning for us. Was around 30degrees F. Sat in a blind cuz my sinuses are killing me. Seen some small does, hoping for something bigger to fill the freezer.

Then my bro in law shot this guy. Made the day worthwhile.

Nice 10 point. In comparison, bro in law is roughly 6'3" and pushing 300lbs.

If you can spin your blade around from this ( to this ) then you wont make a huge mess of the driveway. You might leave smallish windrows but they can be flattened right out with the blade, too.

Good evening all. 30ºF for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Light wind, sky mostly clear all day, and high temp was 54ºF. Men's meeting for start, then putter until go to town for groceries and lunch. Had heat pump checked out, it was ok, saw bubbles in sight glass and called them in. Now I know to check later and see if bubbles clear up. No bike ride not enough time to ride and nap, and nap won out. Not visitors to bird feeder camera today :(. Link is to Blancolirio analysis, you won't get that on TV.
Dallas Mid-air collision
Kyle my understanding on insurance rates are based on actuarial tables and making a profit. If the risk of accident goes up, that offsets the decrease value of the car. Take a look at the link I gave for better analysis of what is known of the mid air.
Dennis did not think of NJ and gas pumping laws. sorry to hear that you are considering leaving.
Ron hope you enjoy your conserving of energy :) very nice pic
Drew glad you are getting time off for good behavior. Glad you are there to help church with insurance.
Billy you got a full week in 2 days. I need to learn your time management! Here, wood insert has been going hard since last Friday. Our temps here close to yours during rain.
Phil glad snow not impacting your day. I see you have your priorities straight.
Drew I don't know why car makers are in a rush to come out with EVs. That would be nice to know.
Mike Welcome back! Sorry to hear about wife and daughter. Prayers sent. Been down the Alzheimer road with dad. Dad was not the most considerate of others, as his dementia got worse so did his awareness of the outside world. He was aware of his inability to function and communicate, and that awareness led to anger issues, common in dementia patients. Changing his environment changes his stress levels much more than us. Makes thing worse. Sorry electrical work not the way you wanted. Good luck finishing it.
Chris sorry about light left up issue. Hope that is water under the bridge.
Buppies sorry about weather not good for paving prayers sent.
Doug hope you were not in bed because of back pain. Praying for the carpal tunnel surgery to be successful. Glad Starlink working for you.
Paul glad trip yesterday went well. Hope snow did not mess with return trip too much. Hope you enjoy wife's plans.
Scotty sorry about clogged pipe hope you can get it unclogged. Can you prevent larger debris from entering pipe?
Ken regarding roof leak can wind be flexing roof causing intermittent leakage? Wonder id coyotes will show up and help with buck?
RNG sorry about HughsNet, glad Starlink is working for you. I would have thought you had had plenty of wood with all the dead trees you had. 80ºF would have me not wearing much clothing and sitting under a fan.
Drew lot of money for fill-up. We had a cleaning lady very innovative where she put stuff, never same place twice.
Thomas sorry about snow hope wreck did not affect you much.
RS good luck working out what and where of electrical wiring. hope you successful with agenda.
Bill glad no freezing rain. enjoy your snow day.
Scaredy prayers sent.
Frits hope you got tools cleaned and put away, and figure thumb out. good luck with new coil.
David good to hear good errands yesterday. Hope good Costco trip
Mark good to hear blower repair better than expected :)
Lou that is a fill-up!
Drew hoping trip goes well and you get to visit all the people you plan to.
PJ good to hear temps rebound next week. Nice price on tires.
Lou hope you can keep fuel from gelling.
Gstrom hope your transition to satellite goes smoothly.
NHBX glad snow/rain no impact on today's activities. Why feel bad id chores are under control?
Paul glad you got home ok. Nice plow rig. Hope propane and diesel tanks stay full.
Thomas glad snow work went smoothly and no issues. Looks like more than old man winter has visited.
Dennis glad you are still posting for now. sorry about still sick, Good to hear no alligator bite. Nice you could get substiture on short notice.
Randy(wag) good to hear wood stacking progessing nicely. When working hard need to watch hydration and electrolytes, if either on gets out of whack can cause leg cramps.
Joel welcome to GM thread. Very nice deer!
