When you can figure out the auto high beam you are half way there.

Driving last night, almost 3 years and I’m not sure they were set right

Good Evening,

well my day was busy ... at 9:30 AM I was still negotiating the Shipping Container (expecting to arrange something for NEXT week), by 12:30 PM it was being delivered. By 2 PM it was landed within a foot or so of where I wanted it - a very tight squeeze for the driver ... 30 ft rig, 48 ft trailer, 10 ft overhang ... to drop a 40 ft container. The manoeuvring was incredible, and he only had about 15 inches of space in front between rig and trees, and then he had to curl around the telephone pole. Fascinating to watch the delivery process. Already it cleaned up the area on the driveway. A friend came over 25 min after it was delivered, and he parked on the driveway ... he asked the standard greeting "What's New?" I turned around, pointed at the Sea Can, and said, That was just delivered. He looked surprised, had not even noticed it when he drove into the yard. PERFECT, it's huge, and not even noticeable, kinda blends right in he said. We will paint it in the Spring (by then I expect that we will be buying it)
RNG - yes, prices have gone up probably 40 % in the past 2 yrs. They have levelled out in the past 6 months or so. I am talking in $9k Cdn, but I'm getting this one for $6250 delivered. I think that is acceptable.
- the crowded garage can now be sorted out (6 yrs ago we split the house in half and we now live in the lower level - everything went into the garage ... I will get back to my workbench soon enough. :)
- wife has wanted to have a canning room built in the back end of the garage, now this might be possible ... approximately 14 x 10 ft with shelving for all of the canning stuff. I think that is a good trade off.

I then had to go to town (25 min drive through construction) to keep a 3 pm appt for the Murano to get a new set of studded winter tyres. Home by 6 PM, back to town for 7 PM - regular gathering of the coffee crew.

I be tired now

Tomorrow will be another busy day with more clean-up from today's mess, yardwork, and a very long back yard burn (LOTS of stuff). The burning ban that went into effect in April, will be lifted at 12 noon tomorrow (Sat) ... YAY.. That will make a huge difference in cleaning things up.

Starting another load for the dump run also.

Might get out to watch the local Salmon Run at the river lookout station, this is the BIG year, every 4 yrs. The other 3 yrs are not nearly as significant.

42 going to 78.

Scaredy, speaking of salmon, my wife was planning on buying some at Costco yesterday, and the price has now risen to almost double what we used to pay. She decided to get the rotisserie chicken instead...still $4.99...how do they so that? I bet continuing this loss leader while inflation continues to jump with have them selling more than the 100 million a year they used to sell.

Cleaned the chimney and woodstove yesterday, and a little plumbing job. Watched some of the Cleveland beating the Yankees game.

Already the middle of October?...slow down, this is such a good month.

Good morning, low temp is 44 and the high will be around 50°F. Wind ESE 17 mph. Showers and possible T-showers.

I have 2 10x24' tarps ordered from the hardware store that I will pick up this morning. One of them will make a temporary patch for the roof on one of the shelter logic portable shelters.
I am tempted to do what I saw a Frenchman up near Cochrane, ON do. He put roofing tin on the top 1/2 of his shelters and then tarped the bottom 1/2.
After the hardware store run, IF it isn't raining, then I will get back onto the wood.
I think I will fire up the downstairs wood furnace this weekend.
$6.85/ US gallon is getting a little pricey for HHO, I can see the price of my snow removal going up again this year. It fluctuates depending on the price of diesel.

I quoted the guy across the road $1,000.oo CASH for snow clearing from October 30th 2022 'til May 1st 2023, I don't think he will go for it and I don't really care. My snow removal business is cash in advance only, no checks.

Time to get my butt in gear, have a safe day all.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today...mostly leaf clean up duty after that if my back pockets aren't dragging will see.

Enjoy your day all.

Driving last night, almost 3 years and I’m not sure they were set right
we have a lot of curvy small roads here, like you and often you can see someone coming at night a while before you have to drop your high beams.
I find the automatics to be a little slow, I'd rather drop my lights a second sooner than I have to, usually it signals the oncoming driver to drop theirs too so I don't get blinded.
Today's headlights are much brighter. I find late model Ford F250 and above truck lights difficult, they have both top and bottom lights going on low, so they all look like they are driving with
their high beams on. and because they sit up so high, those lights are darned bright coming at you. Sign of age, between the deer and the potholes, really don't enjoy driving at night.

so I usually don't turn my automatic ones on.
what I haven't tried, and won't without a buddy on the street to watch, is the auto park and auto leave feature. I just don't trust it, can't give up control of car with
very expensive wheels near concrete curbs. So I haven't tested that at all. I sure would have not paid for that feature but I bought this car as a CPO.

Bill, burn that wood if you have it, cost of fuel oil nuts. I have three oil radiator electric heaters helping in my house so I use less fuel oil. 4.69 a gallon here. Up from 2.69 prior year and 1.79 the admittedly cheap year before that. I try to only keep the room I'm in comfy warm. Sure wish I had a wood stove. Pellet stove might be easier.

no plans for today. Will see what I can find to fiddle with in garage, plus laundry to do and some stuff to unpack. Might be delivering some of those squash to a friend.

and since the car is well covered in road bugs, it might get a bath today. That should keep me out of trouble.
If I had a helper I'd be building that driveway scraper but I'm just in no rush.

keep trying to remind myself I'm retired, to stop hustling from one thing to the next.
am thankful I have lots of hobbies to keep me interested
only missing that tractor...

have a great Saturday gentlemen.

Ted/LS hope you are doing ok, you are missed. So is Eric from across the pond.

When you can figure out the auto high beam you are half way there.

I can’t remember if auto high beam was turned on, but remember that in the menu.
I didn’t realize it has lane assist and adaptive cruise. And a brake pedal hold if sitting in stopped traffic. Does not have traditional emergency brake, not sure I like that.

Already the middle of October?...slow down, this is such a good month.

I’m with you. Days are flying by.

The wind yesterday took most the leaves off the pretty tree behind my house, my son took some great pics of it.

Good morning all, 46 F this morning. No rain

The wood firing season has started for us. So far just firing up evenings and mornings but cooler weather is coming soon. The system to keep wood coming into the house has evolved over the years. I have stored wood in several places around the farm so I load up the Kubota RTV with enough split wood for several days and since it is always parked in the shed behind the kitchen it is close at hand. Inside the house next to the stove I have a large copper basin 2 ft diameter, 18 inches high that can hold enough wood for a day or so. That makes it a little cleaner to keep the mess inside the copper pot. Usually we don't have to run the larger downstairs oil/wood fired furnace except on very cold days.

In the bank barn I have a work room that is heated with a 220 volt electric heater hanging off the ceiling and I use that sparingly on cold days. The rest of the barn is not heated except use of a torpedo heater if needed.

Not sure what I will get into today. But there is no shortage of things to do around here.

Good morning
It was 38 when I woke up, supposed to make it to 65 under clear skies again. Yesterday was a beautiful day, and I spent it inside with a group of trainees.
Did get to play music in the evening though.

Heading out now to do a bit of flight training with one of the attendees. Hopefully it won’t be too exciting. Have lots to do when I get back. Just got a text from neighbor with pumpkin patch farm, wants me to machine something to repair an old AC D17, that will be fun.

40° right now...high in the mid-60's...still pretty wet outside

Not enough for a dump run...maybe head up to Randolph for an overdue haircut

This afternoon, probably rig the tractor for winter (blower, swap the bucket for the front blade). That'll depend on how much it dries up.

Good morning! A warm 73˚F heading to the low 90˚, partly cloudy.
Wngsprd, We have to wait to November to get out of the 90s most of the days. October is nice because we get out of the 100s.

Says 69F here, going to 91F. Don, they are predicting rain here Sunday night late and Monday.

BEF, nice car/suv, are you in between jobs now? Did you take off any time? Is your new commute farther/closer?

I watered my 2 medium size pecan trees to keep them alive. The crows have been stealing the green pecans off of the bigger one. The smaller one has none. I didn't know the crows like green pecans....are they storing them for the winter like the squirrels do?

Billy, I watched a youtube video about Copper River King Salmon and how expensive they have become....

We have to feed the chickens 2 separate bowls of food. The mean old hen hogs one, and the other 5 eat out of the other. She's a bitty. The younger 5 have started laying.

Didn't do much yesterday. My wifey is still sanding on the trimwork in the great room, prepping for paint. I had to pop a few 16 gage thin nails in a few of them to firm them up. Oh, I brought in the shop vac and cleaned the top of the cabinets in the kitchen. Ours don't go to the ceiling. Years of dust I must admit. I believe the ShopVac company might still be in a state of turmoil. I bought 2 Rigid vacs for work. They are nice but the round pleated filters ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with shop vac filters. You can use the bag filters IIRC.

Price of Windows. OUCH! Home Depots website says that the cost of professional replacement of a double hung double pane window with labor can be like $800-$1400.

I just noticed our smoke detector, that is still working, has turned a dingy gold. Used to be white. Might be time for replacement. I've replaced a few already.

I hope you all have a blessed and great day. Prayers for our team, our 1st responders, elected officials, our country, Ukraine and for Putin to find faith.

I guess most people are finished with gators but if you want some more science here is an interesting talk. It's long.

Morning all, 53 going up to 71, sun is up, should be a good outside work day.

Built the firepit, need to move stuff around for some friends to come over.

Leaves are turning, but not fully there yet.

I never use high beams. Use fog lights in fog and headlights at night or in rain.

a little wet for leaf blowing, we'll see, still a lot of leaves on the trees here.

Have a great day,

First thing (8A.M.) I was at the Home hardware store in the next town north of me and got two 10x12' tarps for a temporary fix on the SL shelter. Junior did that while I adjusted the chain on the wood conveyor.
The rain chased me and one of the cats inside.

I can't say that I thought the gator blades were much different from the stock simplicity blades on the zero turn.

I've got leaves to clean up. What else is new.

Have a great weekend
