Good Morning!!!! 67F @ 5:00AM.
Abundant sunshine. High 93F. Winds light and variable.
Looks like 90s for the weekend, then high 80s the rest of the 10-day. No rain in the WU forecast, but the weather guesser on the TV last night was threatening some for the weekend after this.
Ran into an old friend at the motorcycle shop yesterday who was visiting from the Silicon Valley area. He told me his wife was suffering from dementia, and had moved into a care facility in her native Norway. She no longer knows who she is or where she is, and he thought it best for her to be with her family instead of remaining here in the States. Tough times for him.
#2 Diesel was $6.19/gallon yesterday, seems like almost twice what the rest of the nation is paying. Our slimy Governor is promising some kind of fuel rebate/bribe, but it won't do much to ease the pain at the pump.
Learned that the Pep Boys car parts store is no longer accepting oil for recycling, and the Jiffy Lube will only take five gallons at a time. It was painful watching five gallons of Kubota Super UDT hydraulic fluid go down the drain at $125/bucket, but it's still cheaper than replacement gears and bearings. I'll be shleping buckets for another three or four weeks before they're all empty.
Brought home sixpacks of two different beers, both labeled Oktoberfest, but both way too over hopped to be rightly wearing that name. Yet another sign of the approaching apocalypse.
Local tire guys wanted a whopping $340/tire yesterday, and though I'd love to give them my business, TireRack.com sells the same thing for $65/tire less with free shipping. But the TireRack price is still $75/tire more than I paid seven years ago, more bad inflation news.
Oh well, at least it's Friday...
