70°F and thunderstorms again this morning, going up to 84° today. Been flashing and rumbling since the wee small hours of the morning. Looks like the rain will be with us off and on through tomorrow.
"Historic" rains yesterday, or so the media is calling it. Some say it broke a record from 1915, and others are using the phrase "1000 year event." I saw a chart that said some areas got as much as 11.03 inches yesterday. The town nearest us on the list (Aviston IL) said 1.46". We didn't get the onslaught that many got, but we did get enough to raise the pond level back up to the rip rap rock around the shoreline. No more dirt showing. On of our welders at work this morning showed me a picture he took of his TV showing the scene of the one death of someone trapped in their car. As he watched the news, he saw his mother's car sitting in the water just about 100 feet away. She had been rescued, but lost her phone and couldn't call him, so he found out by seeing it on TV.
Insurance companies and cleaning/restoration businesses are going to be very busy for awhile.
wngsprd, there are a few similar places around the St. Louis area called Seoul Taco. They are all over in STL County, though, so I haven't tried them yet. Sounds interesting.
Good morning, gents.
