Good morning.
61 with a high of 77 and clear skies for today.

Yesterday’s rain was only .3 inches, but sort of gloomy all day. I spent the whole day JT the shop with a computer, making drawings and running the plotter. But I finished the job at hand.

Today I’m getting ready to go to Lewiston, ME, where I’ll sit until about 1:30 before coming home. Not much else to report for now.

good morning all
clear and 50 in Catskills Park, headed home around 8am this morning. No sense leaving earlier, will just run into rush hour traffic in NJ.

Buppies, hope wife is feeling better, sorry she is so banged up. She gets extra ice cream...

neighbor emailed me, said my plants were drooping, particularly the new snowball bushes, two days over 90 and me not there watering. Might be ugly when I get home. Before I even unpack car I'll be taking some buckets out. Rain yesterday unlikely enough to have done anything helpful.

58° now dew point 50° highs in the upper 70’s and mostly sunny today.

Grocery-beer and critter food shopping this morning.

Need to mix up a new batch of fuel for the trimmer and chainsaw. Need to take down a couple of small hemlocks that succumbed to bugs and drought. My good neighbor will help as they straddle our property line. He is a huge help when it comes to 2 people stuff. Brush will go in burn pile, neighbor will take logs for his fire pit.

At one point I was under the (mistaken) impression that lime contained nitrogen. It apparently doesn't, but it can help with plants utilizing available nitrogen I believe. It does alter pH ---> more alkali - which, given where you're at, may not be an issue (soils here tend to be acidic)

The bacteria that decompose the vegetable waste and wood matter require nitrogen to function and do their job.

Correct about the lime, in fact adding lime here would really mess up the PH, we tend to have alkaline soil. For heating up the compost pile I have used cotton seed meal with good results. Looking at the prices now it is not very economical and just keeping the pile at the right moister and turning it would probably be best. And time, at least a year. RS how long did your good looking dark compost take to decompose?

Good morning! 71˚F heading only to the mid 90s! Last night turned out pretty good. I won all 5 games in H&F and more importantly It RAINED!!!! .48". However that will delay my planed morning mowing with the wet grass and 95% humidity.

Our community fishing pond did not do well last week with the prolong high temps and no added water, there has been a large fish kill and about 30 buzzards were having a feast on the shoreline.
