Sorry about your pupper dog Paul.

Got stuff in for fixing old Impala (all but the new fans/shroud). Anyway, got old A/C condenser torn out, also the very tough to get to orifice tube. Need to flush out, but orifice filter looked really clean.

61F and clear @ 22:45, heading down to a low of around 52F overnight. Open window sleeping weather ... (y)

First thing was to get plants moved out of the garage.

Then made the watering rounds with the Water Buffalo. First stop was the Redbud tree with the day lilies around it, then Peach tree on west side, followed by the Ginkgo on the northwest corner, and after that the Peach tree on the east side. Once I had those done I headed back up and watered the Yarrow and Salvia in front of the shop - those got about a gallon each. Trees ranged from 8 - 12 gallons (except for a small oak which got whatever was left in the drum) Should last them for a while.

After that I came down to the house and used the hose and watering can to water the 18 Yellow Crookneck on the south side of the frog pond.

About that time, The Woman, who had been out weeding, decided it was time for lunch so She fixed us a couple of fried egg sandwiches.

Following that I filled the hopper feeder and set up the one chipmunk trap out front which caught nothing today so it like we're making some headway there.

Then I went up and got a full dump cart load of screened compost to build up the east edge of the flower bed so we'd have a place to plant the rest of the summer squash. She did more weeding while I did that.

Ended up needing to go get a second dump cart load of screened compost but fortunately it was a team effort (and my back thanks Her)

Ended up getting 10 of those planted and watered in, day lilies got a drink as well as I went by:

Think there are another 8 of those summer squash left to go, which we'll do tomorrow, assuming we can find the space to shoehorn them in.

Will likely need more screened compost to level up the flower bed in spots, so there's probably at least one more trip up to the pile for this project.

Was a long day, just came in from moving plants inside the garage and closing up.

Gonna sleep good tonight ... ;)

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Of course there's always the do it yourself way!

Have done that on more than one occasion ... ;)

It's why I'm not adverse to adding urine-soaked cat litter clumps to the pile either.

Thanks. We were talking about starting a pile not too long ago. Going to find a spot and get one going.
(y)

IMO, it's worth the effort ... especially if you have the equipment (a tractor with a loader) that can make it easier to tend the pile.
I may be wrong, but I think my dad used to sprinkle lime on their compost pile. Is it needed or just to get everything started?
Not sure.

At one point I was under the (mistaken) impression that lime contained nitrogen. It apparently doesn't, but it can help with plants utilizing available nitrogen I believe. It does alter pH ---> more alkali - which, given where you're at, may not be an issue (soils here tend to be acidic)

The bacteria that decompose the vegetable waste and wood matter require nitrogen to function and do their job.

Educational chat with very nice lady at the place I called about repairing my patio door. Yes, they would fix if they had right size glass. Nope, they didn’t. Also no local ability to cut and temper glass. She did offer they could replace with acrylic panel. As she already had dimensions I asked for a price. Over $500. She told me it was very common to just buy a new door as it can be more economical. As I recall, my complete door was less than $400, but that was in 2006. Hone Depot doesn’t seem to sell same door any more.

I already knew I could get 4x8 lexan (uv protected) for $235. I think my labor is likely less than $300.

Went to HD and brought home a sheet. Tomorrow.

Randy(wag) glad nibbles went well.
Oh the nibbles were great... perhaps too great. I was particularly taken with the deep-fried 'Chinese' spring rolls.

Annnnd, about midnight, I felt a 'disturbance' in the nether region = over the rest of the night, let's just say that I haven't been that cleaned out since my last preparation for a colonoscopy. 😄

I'm going to be brief tonight because I feel like a mess physically. Perhaps I overdid it today. Typical ailments / physical stuff, but not usually all at once. I can't relax, so i'll probably try to refocus by watching a car show ...
- left knee is sore, throbbing with pain, still looking for a suitable knee brace - one that straps onto knee without the need to go over foot first. tough to find
- back is sore, stiff today ... if i take the muscle & back pills, i'll be in lousy shape when the dog needs to go out later on
- right leg is in frequent spasms (2-3x min) - doesn't "hurt" in that sense, but driving me crazy, I think the botox is wearing off - the spasms are really bad right now - calling it early
- physio therapy exercises (for dislocated shoulder, arm) continue, appt next week
(I'm not complaining at all, this is the way it is for me ... this might explain a few things though, and it isn't even my CP at all)
Tomorrow will be better

Did my Salv Army Scraps run this morning,
then bank to see what kind of hit a credit check creates (son wants a co-signer on a small loan), I'm saving for a barn, so not sure that I want the hit right now.
Then I had counselling appt - trying to cope with a LOT of changes right now
connected with a friend who is an all around maintenance guy / handyman - I think he is willing, able, and has time to do a minor drain repair for me in the tenants unit ... probably replacing all the pipes under the kitchen sink. More affordable than my plumber, so I'm calling in the favour on that. photos taken so that we know what we are dealing with, can get parts tomorrow
fed the critters - chickens, rabbits, dog
moved a few eggs into a different incubator, see if we get better results
dinner
then did a back yard burn - the full burning ban in this Region is in effect starting 12 noon on Thursday June 30, continues until Oct 15 or later
getting other recycling stuff sorted, and also general garbage for a dump run

prayers to those as noted - have a good night all

Morning all!
Same day as Roy. Was able to get out and mow the grass yesterday before the rains came. Put the bucket back on and promptly took a step off the back stairs with the tooth bar! Oops! Forgot that was on there!
Was able to get the mulch pile turned and ready for the needed moisture. After that we sat on the front porch and watched the weather.
Was able to see the 5 planets all in a row this morning before the sun came up. 7 are visible but 2 of them are low in the horizon for me.
Not much planned for today. (maybe step repair) Here is a pick off the porch from yesterday while enjoying a coffee:
