In this case, the customer uses a 3rd party agency to receive and inspect the product (aircraft engine fan blades). There's been a number of problems with this since the agencies are there to provide warm bodies...but not necessarily qualified warm bodies...and internal communications are lacking at this customer
<snip>
Reads like a potential major safety problem. Seems like a fan blade failure could be catastrophic for other warm bodies.

29 and sunny, going to 53 and windy, again.

Rich, congrats on retirement!

Buppies, glad the healing has begun.

BEF, good you made it to your dad's.

Son and DIL came in Friday night. We started yesterday with a tasting of 7 different coffees I roasted, and 2 they brought me. So good. Then went to Grelan Nursery and hiked one of their trails...many of the shrubs and trees were blooming. They have a market and cafe, so we had lunch. Although they have beautiful seating outside with views of the mountains and nursery extending down into the valley, we grabbed a table in the greenhouse since the wind was gusting up to 30mph. Drove up to a brewery near Old Rag and got snowed on. A full day.

28° and snowing big flakes. Sure wish this would had been predicted Friday when I left. Light coating here, but at least 6” on the path home. Traffic cams shows covered roads in the mountains.

Wished I hadn’t come. My cold is at the many tissue stage now. Hope dad doesn’t catch it. I been sitting on other side of room from him.

Son made it back to TN last night. Other son is taking care of the cats at home.

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 5:00AM. Cloudy. High 72F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.
Rain moves in overnight, but only light accumulations are expected.

Sorry to hear of the Honda's intermittent problem, David. Those are the worst!

Hard to imagine the force it took to break that rod, Kyle. You gonna let him use the tractor again?

The other day I hiked up the driveway with a GPS unit to collect track data, so yesterday I copied it into a spreadsheet and plotted it to see what it looked like.
Screen Shot 2022-03-27 at 5.33.10 AM.png

Today I'll see if I can figure out how to calculate the grade of each leg, and plot that as well. I'm hoping to repeat the process daily to monitor progress on lessening the steepness of the driveway. Looks like that may start next week.

Part of the newly cleared area might end up being a spot for a new shop building, but after scraping it yesterday with the 4in1, there seems to be a lot of bedrock at the surface. That could end up being some expensive digging to get a big enough flat area.

There are two burn piles in the newly cleared area, and with rain on the way, I'll get tarps on both so they'll be easier to start. Then continue the scraping.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend...

Roy, I forget if anyone posted them before but there are a couple of videos of Tommy playing with Jerry Douglas that are pretty good. One is Choctaw hayride.

Chris
Yep, haven't watched those, but I'll look for 'em

Tommy is a hell of a guitarist...so are Mike Dawes and Justin Johnson

Good morning, looks like we already hit the high of 43
Came in from brushcutting yesterday, sky turned dark, wind picked up and it seemed like a minihurricane for about 20 minutes. Then the wind just stopped and the sun came out..

It's fun watching RNG video and clearing. I do the same thing only in miniature in my backyard. :)

LS - no bears so far, they do come across the river every now and then, but it's rare. We have coyotes sightings here and there, but so far none on the gamecam, which is just fine with me.

I got to meet Peter Gabriel at a concert in a club called "My Fathers Place" on Long Island. Why I like small venues. He walked the line to get in and said hello to everyone!

Drew - mirrors are thinking for themselves, didn't want to get wet

PopG - Have a safe flight- those speakers look so nice! Shows what experience and patience can bring.

Wngsprd - sounds like nice family time.

Stay safe and be well,

Many hours in and finally seeing the brushcutting project pay off.
Soon as it dries the tractor will come out to get stumps, fix some of the water damaged areas and move out all the tree parts skewed about. 2 years ago, this was a wall of brush, 10-15 feet high.

Good morning to all! Low was 40°, going for a high of 74°, breezy at times. Yesterday's high hit 74°, 6° higher than predicted.... maybe hit 80° today? Humidity is only at 10% currently. Our chances for rain moved to Tuesday now.

BEF, sorry to hear that you have to deal with the snow.... and a cold to boot! Not too much of a big deal about the fence.... it was planned initially when we decided on selling the old house. When the son ended up buying it, we didn't think it would be needed. Now, due to circumstances, we are just back to the initial plan. There are suspicions that they will sell.

Ken, nice work.... clearing out brush isn't easy!

Buppies, take it easy and rest up!

Since I was able to find my motivation, I will take the opportunity to get the property line marked out, then get to greasing the tractor. Better to get it done now before I misplace it again. They is talk that my motivation and energy are conspiring against me now.....

Everyone have a great day!

64°F and .36 inches rain

Great visit with friends yesterday. Outstanding remodel of their house, which Mark did by himself. Interesting couple. Lived 12 years on a boat, sailing around the world. Opposite of me, everything organized to the T and in their places.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

28 and cloudy @ 15:30 with occasional light flurries coming down. Headed down to a low 19F overnight. One more day of cold weather in the Ten Day.

Hopper feeder and deer feeder refilled yesterday. Switched over to sunflower hearts on this last order to eliminate the mess of all the shells/husks.

More cleaning done in fish room, may continue with that this afternoon.

Worked on cleaning out emails last night ... had >8,500 unread emails in the inbox, managed to reduce it to 1,999 by the time I knocked off. Will probably have another go at it this evening.

Hopefully finish up plant/seed/bulb orders this afternoon.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday !

Good morning And evening all! What a beautiful day here in NE Tasmania... a cool 5C at 0515 when I got up for church (@0900) and it warmed up to a calm, cloudless, 25C.

Everything is back in its place or returned after last Sunday's gathering. I'm looking to to do a mowing around the property (Z-turn FUN!) plus chain-harrow/mow paddocks 1 & 2. Gorgeous early Autumn weather.
Ah Wagtail. I know the ZT feeling well now. I went out yesterday just to trim a little area and finished up mowing about 2 1/2 acres, all with a grin on my face and a little dog sitting between my feet.
What I like is that areas I used to do with the tractor and flail, I can now do faster with the ZT, and it looks like lawn, not just a mown paddock.
Now just have to tidy my shed. Contemplating a pool table (used to have one during my 1st marriage) and a hoist and wheel balancer. Just need to check what reaction I get from a second party.

Hope your dad avoids the sniffles mate. Grab a can of Glen 20 and spray it around occasionally. Kills those bugs.

:)

aaaahh.
We have that saying: "prophet at his own house is not recognized" :D

I did't knew it's branded "Baltics" now.
Actually, it's not "Baltic", but solely Latvian. A/S Latvijas Finieris (finieris.com) is world's biggest BIRCH plywood factory. Their HQ is like 10 km from my home.
I have supplied 2 big CNC machines for their "daughter" which does further machining of panels. That "daughter" is not selling plain "panels" anymore, but already products: acoustic walls, concrete form-works (shuttering), trailer floors, etc For the latest I mentioned - normally at US you put on your trailer's decks softwood timber. Quite thick. We instead put 12 ... 18 mm thick plywood covered with anti-slip fenol resin soaked mesh film. It's lighter, more durable. For instance 18 mm thick 1200 X 2400 mm coverd with Riga Hex panel costs ~ 60 $. And it wil last lifetime

As it normally is, big whale is surrounded by bunch of smaller fishes here we have handful of smaller companies, making interesting consumer products from birch veneer.
Good friend of mine runs company, which makes bicycles out of birch plywood: https://legandgo.com/
Really quality product. My own twin boys rode that thing like crazy. They used to jump on speed bumps like that frame become straight

And we can make really nice looking furniture out of birch plywood- interesting shapes, lightweight, strong. here are some of my pictures - most challanging pieces for painting robot

Sorry for derailing this topic. But as this is topic about literally everything, I am not very sorry ;)
Do those chairs have an identifying mark on them where they are made. I think I saw some in Texas.

Morning all! Another beautiful day, intermittent overcast with light wind. Overnight low of only 14C, 22.4C right now. Apparently the Aerodrome received 0.2mm of rain last night... I'll have to check my gauge.

Not much on for a Monday but the Post Office texted that I have a couple of cases of wine to pick up. 🍷

Yes, m_g, we're into early Autumn and, yes, the not-so low overnight temps are very nice. I won't have to put a fire on until (cross-fingers) late April.

Oh, and there was nothing in my rain gauge so the Aerodrome must have copped a wee coastal sprinkle.
