Kyle did you see this one.

Another tornado was reported in Granger, (about 20 miles from us) my cousin got a pic, it destroyed her friends house. There is hail there now. I'm trying to down load the pic now.

Another was reported about 5 miles away from here another in Elgin another in Roundrock and one in Lexington that may have bee the one in Giddings as it moved North.

Better reports tomorrow in the daylight.

That’s one heck of a storm system. Hope all is safe tonight.

I changed oil in pilot tonight. Took me awhile to reset the oil monitor, not sure why, it just didn’t want to reset.
Backing it out of garage, I could feel something moving. The spare tire underneath was loose and swinging. Not sure how it got loose, but I cranked it back up.

Went to work at shed, noticed when I was moving the bricks the other day, I must have pushed against side of shed, bottom of that wall got pushed in a little. Didn’t have much daylight left so I didn’t do anything.

Will try to meet with financial guy again tomorrow.

Been having a headache tonight.

Afternoon all!

I said that I'd get back to you on the lamb spit-roast/fundraiser/soiree I had on Sunday... Pulled pork 'on' @0500, charcoal started @0600 and a friend came out @0645 to help me get the lamb on the spit by 0700. He then left and I decided that it was time for a wee bit of breakfast.

And that's when I heard a 'ping' coming from the spit... short story is that a small screw had sheared and, although the motor was turning, the spit wasn't! I had to turn it by hand until someone showed up @0830! Between his and my tools (each taking turns as required) and 2 other 'break-downs' trying to get it repaired, we got it going again by 1015.

After that, everything went well. More people showed up and everything (tables, marquees, cutlery, etc...) else got sorted. Lovely weather and the 'event' was over by 1600. A lot of people stayed to help clean up. Early to bed for me as there was still things to be done on Monday morning.

About 0900 I returned the Port-a-loo (after dumping the 'waste' at the Council's waste station) to the Council Depot. Then it was back home to get the full garbage bins and the lamb carcass and take that to the tip... The rest of the day was spent 'putting things back where they belong' and cleaning the spit's accessories... it'll slowly take me a week to get everything sorted.

BUT, this morning I'd said that I would help the Community Garden fill several raised-garden-beds with mulch and top-soil using my 4105's FEL. 0900 - 1230. I'm (obviously) home now and have beaten the rain that was expected.

So, there you go. Oh, it's 20C outside. Take care all.

After my morning meeting, I'm going to do the chores I missed last weekend.... that is a dump run and haircut.
Guess it's about time to put the regular tires on and stash the snow tires too.

good morning all
Wagtail, sounds like a fun event. I like lamb and on a spit? Sounds yummy. You were just doing a recreation of how your great grandparents
turned that lamb without electricity.

Paul, thanks for referral to tire place.
Blooming Glen, always liked the name of that little town. Always driving through it to get somewhere,
always keep my speed down since folks in little towns just don't like
you speeding down their main street.

Firestone didn't make a comparable tire in my size. Michelin had the top ranked directional all season tire with a snowflake rating, but the tire place was very negative on directional tread tires. Rotation is always an issue and he said directional tires were prone to cupping. Anyone know why? They included 130 bucks for a full alignment as part of price installing tires.
Maybe you really need perfect alignment for directional tires. I decided on the less expensive Goodyear Assurance Comfortdrive. Our roads locally are potholed and have areas of concrete that is just atrocious to drive on. Your car goes bang bang bang. Time for a little softer tires and not going to overinflate 2 pounds as I usually do.
Goodyears were number two rated after Michelin. Vredestein Quattro was also available, liked them on Audi and they were a little less money.
250 dollar tires, wow has this gone up.

Roy you are tempting fate...

cloudy but warm day today up to 60 with rain coming in over next few days.
All you folks in Texas stay safe.

Roy you are tempting fate...
If you're writing about swapping the snow tires for the all-season tires...well, you're probably right. It's like doing a rain dance and we'll probably get a major blizzard the day after the tires are swapped

Good morning, low temp is 22 and the high will be 39°F. wind N 11 mph. Sunny! The next 4 days are gonna have some sort of precipitation.

Wagtail, great minds think alike. We had baby sheep on Sunday. Just a leg, can't afford the whole thing for just the three of us.
Fish, chips and mushy peas last night and I will finish off the peas for breakfast today.

Roy, my snows don't come off until at least the end of April at the earliest.
The beginning of April will see me put the backhoe on the tractor, maybe.

My neighbour that wants me to spread some dirt behind her house emailed me the other day. She wants to move the portable shelter that is behind her house so I can have the room she thinks I need to spread the dirt down her hill. Her hill is 45° down for about 100 feet. She just doesn't take 'no' for an answer. What she needs is something that can turn in its' own length, like a dozer. I've told her 'no' twice now, that is not including right after I got the tractor in 2012 she wanted me to go to the bottom of her hill to do some work and that was before I got the chains. I do have a couple of stumps to dig out for her, but they are up on the higher ground.

Today is another energy conservation day for sure.

Have a safe day all

42 going to 71. Nice.

Continued the bush hogging for another 3 hours yesterday. There is a dip in the field that had some standing water that I didn't see...made a little muddy mess getting out of it...always cut that field in March and never had it be wet like that before. So, I skipped a little piece to not make ruts. Also used the zero turn around the yucca "grove" where the bush hog doesn't fit. Wind kept shifting and gusting, so got pretty covered up in grass, dust and pollen. Sure am glad I don't have a cab on my tractor. 🥴🤧

Yesterdays snow has passed. Nothing stuck but we got a little wetter. 39 now - expected to hit 51 this afternoon.

   / Good morning!!!! #147,616
The TV kept getting interrupted yesterday afternoon with dire weather forecasts, radar showed a long, long streak of severe weather problems from Oklahoma to the middle of Texas, etc., etc. And unfortunately, some folks did suffer from some severe weather problems.

But for us . . . . my gauge got about 1.10" of rain (best rain so far for this year, and badly needed), not even enough breeze to blow rain through the patio. We could just not have asked for a better weather event.

We could just not have asked for a better weather event.
inch of rain is just perfect Bird, enough to sink down a ways but not enough to wash things away.
In Camelot it only rained on Wednesdays...one inch every Wednesday night would be just fine.
52 inches of rain a year, though maybe a drier winter with less snow.
One inch of rain is supposed to be six to seven inches of snow.
I think Bill gets that much pretty constantly for a while.

Of course 52 inches of rain would be a very dry year for David in Hawaii.

Morning all, 48 going up to 59 and cloudy.
Maybe take out the leaner tree today and finish that up.

Thomas - part time job seems to be more hours than full time?
Don - that is a huge funnel-hope all are safe.

Stay safe and be well,

Always fun to see work you did way back when.
The tall tower centered in the picture is the second version of ASDE-3 and is for runway/taxiway collision avoidance. This tower for Newark, NJ airport is the very tower I worked on as the first built prototype at republic airport in NY.
Good to see it still spinning. Miss being an electrical engineer, but it was all moving from discrete to integrated circuits, not as much fun and never paid that well.

Good Morning
It’s 45 and going to be another spring like day today.

Yesterday was yet one more quiet day, I spent most of it cutting up rubber sandblast mask on the plotter. There is a local guy that sandblasts decorative rocks and markers, and I make his drawings and cut the mask for him, usually a 10 yard roll at a time.

Today I’m off to Asheville, NC where I get to spend the night. I generally avoid any overnight trips, but this will give me an afternoon to be a tourist in a nice place.
It’s drying up nicely, still pretty wet, but I was able to load the Carryall up with 50 lb bags of feed and not leave ruts.

Morning all! 31 here going to a sunny 46. High winds though so no outside work today.
I really put the jinx to us as I removed the plow and chains from the tractor yesterday. I'll leave the blower attached till the end of April though.
Nothing else going on at the moment...just living the retired life!
Maybe a little shopping later on and I think an eye appointment later in the week. No news is good news!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!
