Bird, I think it's too hot in Texas for the Tall fescue. It is a cool season grass. It will be ok for the spring but it will go dormant or die in the Summer heat. It's kind of like rye grass.

"Lawns with Tall Fescue thrive when daytime temperatures are 60-75 degrees. Above 75 degrees Tall Fescue will struggle. Above 90 degrees the grass may go into dormancy to protect itself. If it is too hot for too long, there may be permanent damage."
Don, a part of my front yard gets very little, or no, sunlght, so that's why I was leaning toward the Tall Fescue. But nothings set in stone. What else might give me grass in the front yard with absolute minimal sunlight? Rye grass did well for a time in the past, but as expected it eventually died out. I might consider astro turf except I don't know how I'd get those blasted little acorns out of it.:LOL::LOL:

56°F and light rain this morning, going up to 65° today. Rain is expected pretty much all day, and into tomorrow now as well.

Wife made some excellent corned beef and cabbage for dinner yesterday, with potatoes and carrots, and rounded off with a slice of delicious lemon cake.

The delivery box was full when I got home from work, with four boxes and two large soft mailer envelopes. One of the boxes contained a used power amp I had ordered. Another was the speakers for the new (still unbuilt) speaker cabinet. Guess I need to build that this weekend. The rest of the parts for it from Parts-Express should be arriving this weekend anyway.

Happy Anniversary, Mostly_. My Wife and I got married on the 10th anniversary of our first(-ish) date.

When I used to brew my own beer back in the '90s, Helogabal, a little research led me to that original pale lager. It was quite good, even if not as fresh as the local stuff over there. Czech pilsner was the inspiration for many popular American lagers. It's just a very drinkable beer.

Good morning to all! Low was 31°, heavy freezing fog / frost just before sunrise. Now up to 39° and only a few spots of frost left. High should reach into the mid 50's.

I put Max out for his last run at about 9:30 last night..... he started barking with that "something's out there" stance.... then I saw the neighbor's German Sheppard and Blue Heeler dogs at the fence trying to say HI!. Gave them a call and then proceeded to try and guide them back home. I was about halfway there (2 1/2 acres away) when they beat me there..... unfortunately, soon as their owner started calling them back into their fenced area.... well they wanted no parts of that.... off they went again. I did my part....

The dogs are friendly, so not too concerned about them coming here. I'm more concerned that they will get shot somewhere else, or find the way down to the road and get hit.

Doug, that heart rate is strange.... usually goes the other direction. I hope they can find what is causing the sudden variation. How often does it happen?

Drew, nice to hear you had a pleasant drive to your friends house. I don't think I would be able to get in / out of a Miata... good luck!

Bill, good luck catching the cats. Are they de-clawed? Might be interesting...

Ken, have a safe trip up to Long Island. Hopefully traffic won't be too bad.

WNG, sorry to hear that your tractor bridge was under water.... That much rain will surely make some mud for sure!

RNG, are you able to get some seat time on the dozer? Maybe if you ask nice and provide a nice cool beverage to the operator, he would let you play....😇

Kyle, hope your mom feels better and they can get to stabilize her breathing.

PJ, have some fun building the speaker cabinet. Pics please...

PopG, ... wow, you're actually taking an 'easy' day..... well deserved, enjoy!

I may take the opportunity to change the oil in the car today, still didn't get it done due to getting sick, then the syncope. I am feeling much, much better this morning, sooo.... now I just need to convince the wifey to take off the leash.....🥺

Everyone have a great day! I can't believe it's another weekend already....

67°F and .22 inches of needed rain.

I learned yesterday that one can adjust the length of cordless mini blinds, but losing the cordless part sure made it time consuming.

Wife said corned beef was maybe a bit saltier than usual. Still good though.

Hand and Foot this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Happy anniversary Mostly and wifey!
Unfortunately, Tuesday night I got out of bed to go to the bathroom. Made it in there and suddenly got lightheaded and passed out. Wifey heard the crash and rushed in. She said I was out cold for a few minutes. She had called our middle son and he came over and helped me up. No apparent injuries at the time, so didn't call 911. The B/P apparently bottomed out again, 20 minutes later it was still low at 90/50 while laying supine.

Then after waking up yesterday, the good knee was hurting really bad. Must have twisted it during the fall. It got better throughout the day, but still sore today. Put a call into the cardiologist, consensus is that it was caused by dehydration from being sick (I realized that I probably only drank 28oz. over 2 days), in combination with the meds, and getting up too fast from sleeping. He is sending out a 30 day heart monitor to see if there's any abnormalities going on. Nuclear stress test next week still on schedule.

Getting old isn't fun..... I was told this was to be the best time to enjoy... I was apparently lied to....
I've had pass out vasovagals twice that I can remember. 1st one I believe caused from eating a big portion of salty Joseys chips and guacamole with a ton of garlic salt in it. Too much salt. I woke up sweating profusely from head to toe and had to go jump on the toilet for an immediate diarrhea episode....TMI. The 2nd was my daughter woke me up suddenly in the middle of the night with the dog having a seizure. I flash jumped out of bed, and got woozy and then passed out. Was feeling fine by the time EMS got here (my wife had called them).

So ultimately, I've cut way down on salt and almost no caffeine. This was over 6-7 years ago, and I feel much better now.

Now, when I have to get up to P in the middle of the night, I sit up for about 10 seconds and then slowly arise to go "do my business"....

Good evening all. The weather has been getting a lot kinder for us, morning frosts disappear at sun rise and the wind is no longer quite as relentless.

Managed to get down a few small windblown trees today. First time I have had any sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa) to cut up for firewood. It is a much lighter hardwood than I had expected, can't complain though when the nuts taste so good.

Kyle, happy birthday to James. Is that the last before his teens ? My grandson has been getting in lots of early practice at being a grumpy teenager, has another year yet to refine his grumpiness.
Most young boys these days are all about video games. It kills them to be in a car for a long ride, without a game. When my son makes a groan or whine when I ask him to do something, I say "Did I just hear some negativity?" and if he doesn't change his tune and get onboard, we have a "NO SCREENS" timeout for some time. Maybe "no screens" for a day, or if bad enough, a week. This policy has worked for him.
With the high cost of used cars how is the insurance doing on replacing a totaled out vehicle? The Blue book values are way off.
This cost me a couple thousand when my Altima got rear ended and totaled a year ago. I did have lingering pains, but they are gone now fortunately.

Yesterday, Diesel was $5.99/gallon at the local Safeway station. First $200.00+ fillup for me, ever.😲😠
OUCH! I had to break the news to my friend, who was busy looking for one of those diesel volkswagens that cheated the epa testing, that they had been bought back, changed, re-fitted, destroyed or whatever...

Nice afternoon already !
+8...+10 C. And still very good forecast ahead.

Friend of mine have made a road trip to Praha/ CZ.
To move his junk he borrowed my trailer.
I was happy to help, and as a "rental fee" he brought for me a box of premium Czech lager beer
Nice guy indeed (y)

Today is first day when day is longer than night. 4 minutes only - 12:02 vs 11:58. Spring equinox (I just guess I have spelled that word right way )

I surely enjoyed that beer on my trip to Prague many years ago.

Well, got the "instructional" call this morning for the heart monitor being sent.... it was more of -- "when you get it next week, just follow the instructions included with it". OK.....

The biggest part of the conversation was "don't go swimming or submerge it in water".... DUH-- really?

I did find out it is much different than before... basically a very small unit, about the size of a 9v battery, attached like a patch to the upper left chest. Wireless, and synced to a cell phone. I believe very similar to the diabetic blood glucose monitors that are worn for extended periods.

At least I won't have to fight with a box / pouch while trying to sleep at night.

It's up to 47 now.... going out to change the oil. Wifey insists that our 18yo GS supervises..... I'll take the opportunity to teach him some vehicle maintenance. He is a greenhorn for sure when it comes to vehicles.

Kyle, I think my episode was similar in circumstances..... the little voice inside told me to sit on the edge of the bed first..... I didn't listen. I got up way too fast, still half asleep.
