Good morning!!!!

I moved here last June. Yesterday, I finally put the dishes and canned goods, etc away in the kitchen. I guess I got tired of using and stepping around the boxes. It figures, the next room for rehab in this 100 year old farmhouse is the kitchen with it's built-in cabinets. Next fall/winter project. Living room is about done. Refinished the wood floor, yanked down the plaster (redid the poorly done insulation) new windows/trim. Only painting is left. White trim, but need to decide on the wall color (ugggh). Too many choices. Ceiling - wall color or white?

Morning all, snow sleeting here and more to come.
Sons competition canceled, which works out since he was real sick last night with some stomach bug.
Not a fun night.

Yesterdays takedown of 4 ash trees did not go well.
One actually fell over while making the back cut, trunk had rotted out. That was weird.
One fell just perfect. One got hung up as it twisted on the rotten core.
The last one I just left for now as I will need to get the hanger down first.

Sorry to hear that Buppies- keeping the Dr. busy, but at least finding the issue earlier has better outcome. Even if it is a pain for you to be going through this so often.

Drew - Happy Birthday ! May you have many more !

gstrom - we did white for ceilings and chose some color in some rooms for walls. Sometimes 2 colors for opposite walls. White is easy as you have lots of options for color in wall hangings or furniture. I let my wife do all this stuff and just watch.

We have quite a few dramas right now with friends kids, Sister in law ( and her sister living in a trailer somewhere down south without a working door who makes sure no one wants to help her). My SIL who has to control everything. Nephew just out of a halfway house. etc.
We try not to let this all get to us....... but family.

Just heard another tree fall, wonder which one, not one of the 2 that would make my life easier of course.

Stay safe and be well,

Ted
Reminded of an expression I’ve heard:
“A daughter’s a daughter for all of her life. A son’s a son until he takes a wife. “

Don’t know how many times wife and I have shook our heads and commented to our son, “you were never raised like that”.
That's the thing..... we have never had to question his integrity until after he walked out on his first wife.

Morning to all;

Nice start to my morning was sitting drinking my coffee when the lights went out, flashed back on twice then stayed out.
Got dressed went out started the 574 for the third time this winter and powered up the generator,
had about an inch of wet snow on the ground that nice stuff that just stepping on it makes ice.
Got the power running went for a drive and found were the outage was, tree limb in the wires.
Power was only out for a bit over an hour.
Still snowing that wet snow, depending on the forecast 6-10", 3-6" or 4.5".

Family, in laws and outlaws can be an interesting and hair pulling experiences,
I had a divorce and child custody case that would have played like a TV show.
And after my fathers death we had a falling out among siblings, 10 years ago and still not over with.

I bet it’s nice and white there today, it is here. I was planning to put new siding on shed today, change of plans.

BEF, beautiful site...I think that is Big House Mountain in the distance...on my list to hike soon. Hope you can swing a deal.

.

Big house Mountain is 3.6 crow miles behind the lot, to the north. We circled Big and Little House Mountains. The one pictured is Green Hill (I think) 4 crow miles off to SW.

Good morning to all! Low was 14°, going for a high in the low 50's today, high 50's tomorrow. Then up to the high 60's by midweek. All subject to change of course!

No more episodes of the soap opera..... must be on a commercial break. We still keep questioning ourselves about the situation. We can't come up with any answers.... only more questions.

Buppies, prayers sent for a good outcome. Keep up the positive attitude!

The similar "family drama" stories posted help us realize we are not the only ones.... I guess it's just part of the tests we all face going through life, making us stronger.

There is still remnants of the snow in the driveway, so no more gravel spreading for a couple more days. The moisture helped pack down what was spread already. Just some "touch up" needed in a few spots, so no problem waiting.

Today will be a good day to replace the hydraulic closures on our storm doors. They are both only 2 years old, but have lost the strength to pull the door closed. I think they got damaged when the wind caught the doors and overextended the opening of the doors. I picked up the replacements and a couple of safety chains a couple of days ago. Just need to let it warm up a bit before getting started.

The tractor is due for an oil change (I think), so might do that tomorrow along with a thorough greasing. That will occupy my mind for a bit.....

I can't wait for spring to get here already.... but, we always get a late March / early April snow, so I won't hold my breath!

Everyone have a great weekend!
