Good morning

31° now and sleeting on top of 4” wet snow. It should be all rain shortly with temp’s in the low 40’s. Winds are close to 20 mph steady with gusts in the 30 mph range, should get stronger in the next couple of hours. According to the weather guesser’s this should be done by noon? We’ll see!

Coffee now and will keep an eye on what things are doing before clean up.

Everyone stay safe and enjoy your day

Got a couple 100 pictures scanned yesterday. Lots of good memories while doing the scanning..

Fun looking at old pictures.
I brought back about 6-700 more slides from dad’s to scan.

walkway into my house washed nice and clean by over an inch of rain.
This would have been 8-9 inches of snow if colder.

thank you thank you

but it really did snow like mad last night so I'm glad Ken's son wasn't out driving in it.
You want to take the Jeep for sure.

might see some flurries later but temps are rising

it must be the proximity to the mountains
or my being closer to the Atlantic, but it just seems odd to have
several of you South of me getting way more snow than here.
I'm sure that will jinx me. Toppop is fairly coastal too.
But when the Nor'Easters come up, it's our area that tends to get hit.

I'm sure there is a goldilocks weather zone for all of us but we live where we live for
many reasons, some including roots. But it is fun trying other areas.
For me I value my old friends and family more than I do my weather preference.
Plus moving is never fun. I've had enough of that.

time for breakfast, stomach is grumbling

slow and easy Roy. Crank up the heat and have fun.
Well, on walkways, you'll be providing the heat...
I've used the tractor's snow blower on the walks, before I got my first walk-behind (a real POS I bought used). Pretty much stuck with the EGO blower for the walks the last few years...but as crappy as it s today, maybe I'll just stay in the cab.
Nothing's going to happen for a while though...maybe around noon.
Problem is, it's dropping to the low to mid-teens tonight...high probability for ice

34 this morning and that’s the high 9.5 in of snow with sleet. Very windy 25 to 30 gusts to 55 mph lots of blowing and drifting time to wake tractor up

Prayers for all

Good morning! 25˚F heavy frost, clear skies, very light North wind turning Southerly and 60s this afternoon.

Hope Egore had a good weekend and is in a good mood when I see him later. Walking and biking only matter to me to increase my endurance after a year of less and less activity and then surgery. Egore and Doctor only care about flexion. After Egore's session I'll go for a walk.

The news is calling your snow a "Monster" storm. That is scary!

30°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 37° today. We got a light dusting of snow late last night.

You guys out east be careful with all that snow and ice.

Good Morning
It’s 34 and only going up a few degrees before it starts going down.

We got maybe an inch of snow, followed by an inch and a half of rain. Pavement looks clear, but I will check it out, might be better to plow 1/2“ of slush than deal with the ice if I don’t. Apparently the power went out about 3am, but only for 15 minutes. The only reason I know it’s that I get a text from the generator telling me when it started and when it stopped.

Yesterday was a productive inside day for me. Got sub panel and receptacles for welders installed, including one for the plasma cutter that’s on its way. I was reminded of why I don’t like working with large gauge wire. I’m definitely getting soft, the biggest was only #2, and I’m whining about it.

Next job was easy, just changed two shower heads to the “rainfall” style with hand shower that is stowed in a magnetic dock. No cheese plastic clip!

Next stop was at the restaurant for another cooler case. Easy fix, but bad timing, I just finished eating when I got the call.

Time to get up and make breakfast, wife is already down in the barn. Not sure what the day will bring, I’m supposed to go to a friends building and weld a patch on a large steel beam, the vertical section of one of the truss beams.if it’s icy out, might postpone that, it’s about a 45 minute drive in good conditions.
After I decide what to do with the lane, the next decision will be whether to go or stay.

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:15AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High around 60F. Winds light and variable.
Still no rain in the 10-day. All too much like Groundhog Day.

If I had to pick the ultimate muscle car, Fuddy952, that Chevelle would be at the top of the list. That's not a bad Nova, though.

How do they get the numbers out of the wool at shearing time, Eric?

Looks like you might have some good sledding hills there, Buppies.

I don't know the answer to your question, Bruce, but I do know that the Subaru engine makes almost 50% more horsepower than the stock VW engine. My guess is that once I wiggle enough wires, I'll find the cause of the starting problem. I have already found and fixed a LOT of poorly made connections.

There was a delivery notice Friday for a letter that required a signature, and when I traced it, it came from the same town as the flaky solar contractor. I got an email from him the same day demanding payment. I wished him good luck with that, at least until he fixes the problems he caused. He seems to be one of those people that think repeating a lie often enough turns it into the truth.

Swapping out the firewood pallet turned out to be a little easier than I thought it would, in that I only had to move two motorcycles. But when I went to hook up the hydraulic lines on the grapple again, one wouldn't lock. Ended up taking both halves off, and still couldn't get them to lock, so it wasn't a pressure problem. Finally managed to get enough leverage on the collar on the female side to get it to lock, but even after several trips through the parts washer, there must be something jammed in there that's binding. And when there's no male fitting in it, it doesn't seal back up all the way, either:

There's some fine print on the thing that says "Summit Hydraulics", so I'll call them today to see what they have to say about it.

All that horsing around pretty much finished the day, except for a beer on the back porch watching the sunset. Before it went down, I had a view of both it and the rising full moon. Somehow though, the moon never comes out as big as it looks whenever I try to take a picture of it.

Believe it or not, FedEx did deliver the last box of brake parts yesterday, but not before sending me an email to let me know they were delaying delivery until today. It seems one hand doesn't know what the other is doing at that company. Regardless, I know what I'll be doing today.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start.

You are correct RNG would be great sledding if it wasn’t so hard for me to get up. Elevation change looking up driveway about 250 feet down about 150 fee. Driveway about 2800 feet long give or take

I found out over the weekend that a bar owner I used to play for back in the '90s died last week. He was an exceptionally entertaining character, and playing at his place was always fun. He and his wife were running a hair salon, and decided to open a bar in the building next to it. The salon was called Planet Granite - because people from Granite City seem to be in their own world - and the bar was called The Planet Cafe. Good food, cold drinks, and live music. The bar was run mostly by his brother Jerry, and his two sons, who are a few years younger than me. They were located in what was not considered the best area of town, but somehow managed to get a better class of clientele. Once word got around about the live blues music, even on some weeknights, it became quite the popular spot, which also helped lift the fortunes of a couple of other bars on the same block, one of which also had live music. It was an amazing success story at a time when the future didn't look so bright for our hometown.

His obituary, as it turns out, is every bit as entertaining as he was. It seems his sense of humor was not lost on his family.

It has been snowing for the past 2 hours or so. We've got about an inch. More to come later. There is one thing about our snow that is almost guaranteed... It will be all gone by labour day weekend. 🤣

Morning all was 45 and going down ...
Snow was about 2" until late last night when rain and warmer weather moved in.
Now just ice patches and we. Just put some salt/sand on front steps as USP driver got here, so good timing.

Son was upset the concert was postponed. He works exceptionally hard on the practice.
But it looks like he may get into the High School talent show, so lose one, win one.

ScaredyChicken - how are you ? hope you are getting better.

Seems the weather is all over the place this year.

My son singing, he also played bass on one song and guitar on a few others. He also plays drums and keyboard.
I can only play computer

Yeah, I'd say there's a good sense of humor
"In fact, early in life, he was so good at selling street-based pharmaceuticals the Federal Bureau of Prisons invited him to be a guest."
"Trees and shrubs across the bi-state region can now rest easy at night knowing their next severe pruning has been stayed with his passing."

Good morning to all! Low of 25, going up to mid 50's again. Slight breeze making it feel a little colder ---- not like back east though.

I WILL get that shelf for the wifey today... I WILL... I WILL...

After that, just putter a bit in the shop. I might have to go get some propane tanks filled. I lost track of empties / full ones, so will have to see how many are really empty.

Might make a grocery run later, if not tomorrow is another day....

Stay safe and warm everyone, no heroics clearing snow / ice.....

65°F and no rain.

Glad Brady won. Didn’t really have a pick in other games other than maybe Big Ben having a win.

Even got State taxes filed. Guess I need to get ready for annual IRS slog.

Guys got trounced in Hand and Foot. ☹️

Back into Caretaker project today. Slow progress.

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Just an FYI. I finally found a shop that had the Makita chainsaw sprocket in stock. When I asked about ordering three of them, he said he only had one, but I could add my email addy to be notified on the page that listed the part. So there's one on the way, and I'll pick up the other two when he's got more in stock, which the Makita distribution center said would be sometime mid-February.
